Yesterday, the San Mateo Sheriffs Department tweeted great white sharks seen in halfmoon bay, multiple pilots flying over san mateo coast have spotted great white sharks in the water, if visiting the area, please use caution. The sharks responded between the ritzcarlton and pillar point in halfmoon bay. According to marine biologists, great white sharks are known to swim off the coast of california. They are sensitive to temperature. If you see one along the coast, chances are they are just looking for warmer water. Stephanie roberts lives a mile she says this doesnt happen very often. It does make you nervous because they do swim in the ocean every now and then. But its nature. Thats why we love living here. And i guess just use common sense. Use common sense, yeah. The great whites arent just limited to San Mateo County. One was spotted off the coast of Sonoma County last month. Thats why were going to see the likelihood of this becoming a hurricane. The window is starting to close thankfully, but its not really the winds that we have been worried about. Its the fresh water flooding from the right quadrant there. You can see all of that heavy rain. Let me show you where it goes specifically right up through baton rouge. Thats an area where the mississippi, as you mentioned, is at flood stage. If you throw another foot and a half to 2 feet of rain from m morgan city, baton rouge to wilson, thats where youre going to have major flooding all the way into mississippi. We have just learned that labor secretary alex acosta has resigned from his position. Of course Top Democrats had been calling for his resignation of late for his involvement in the early 2000 nonprosecution of billionaire Jeffrey Epstein who just this week was arrested for child sex trafficking charges. He faces up to 45 years in prison. Tom yamas who has been speaking with victims and who has been on the story from the very beginning joins us on the phone, and tom, let me ask you, because earlier this week, alex acosta held a press conference and here were seeing it, and he really said he enjoyed the full support of the president. He didnt offer an apology to these victims. So what changed in the last couple of days. Paula, this is a stunning turn of events, as you mentioned secretary acosta was adamant, he stood his ground, he fiercely defended the way he acted as u. S. Attorney in the Southern District of florida eleven years ago when Jeffrey Epstein agreed to a nonprosecution agreement, he served 13 months in county jail, six days a week he was able to go to work, even though there were 40 women who had come forward. There was a 52page indictment. This is back eleven years ago, and acosta says the best they could do was to get him jail time and get him registered as a sex offender. He refused to apologize, initially the signals we were getting from the white house were that they thought he had done a fine job, and was going to keep his job. Then today, a change of events and he has resigned. The story has not gone away. Really the white house hasnt been able to rustle back the news cycle and more and more information is coming out every single day, and this morning on good morning america, we reported more victims are coming forward. Nearly a dozen victims have come forward. Prosecutors in new york made a public plea asking any women out there if they had an experience with Jeffrey Epstein, if they were sexually assaulted and now we are learning more women have come forward, that may have played a role in this, but a stunning turn of events, paula. Lets go to john carl our chief White House Correspondent on the phone. I hear that presumptiident trum talking right now about acosta. Recently he said he felt badly for him but seemed to support him, of course the white house couldnt get away from the story and his involvement in this. What can you tell us about the white house reaction and trumps reaction in particular . Reporter the president is insisting that this was entirely alex acostas decision. In fact, in standing with acosta, talking about this in the white house south lawn, he said that acosta wasnt just a good secretary of labor, he was a great secretary of labor, but he called him and wanted to do this. For his part, acosta saying it would have been selfish for him to stay on the job while all of these aelllegations were swirli. I have to tell you, that aside, this is an abrupt turn around for alex acosta and for this white house. He was expressing both publicly and privately a desire to fight on, insisting that he did absolutely nothing wrong whatsoever. The other thing that i can tell you is even as the president is praising him, theres been a pattern with President Trump that we have seen from the first weeks of his administration, even as somebody is either forced to resign or fired, the president often says words of praise as they are going out the door, and the one thing that this president does not tolerate is those on his team making problems for him. He will never back down. He will fight, he will refuse to apologize for anything involving himself but when somebody on his team has problems that then start to ricochet and become issues for him, he has very little tolerance. And one real quick question for you, john, the president is saying that this was acostas decision solely. Jou ju you just said that. Do you have full confidence that it was his decision . I have no doubt that it was acosta who called and said im going to resign. The thing is in situations like this, the president always has the ability or almost always has the ability to pull somebody back in, and what seems to me and well report this over the coming hours and days, paula, but i sense no serious effort from this white house to get acosta to stay on the job in terms of whether or not he was forced out, explicitly, i see no signs to ha signs of that, but as i said, this is a president that does not like to see members of his people that work for him, members of his team creating problems that ricochet and affect him.
