This is a movement for humanity, for safety, for keeping our citizens alive. Reporter one week after the parkland shooting, students are ramping up the pressure on state lawmakers. Were talking about gun safety, were talking about school safety, and were talking about mental health. Reporter while the students rode on buses to tallahassee, florida lawmakers voted to not consider a bill to ban assault rifles. One survivor watching the vote overcome with emotion. I signed a memorandum directing the attorney general to propose regulations to ban all devices that turn legal weapons into machine guns. Benjamin kelly was fired from his position in the office of a state lawmaker from tampa and kelly wrote to a reporter saying, quote, both kids in the picture are not students here but actors that travel to various crises when they happen. The photo he was referring to showed Emma Gonzalez and david hogg on cnn. Kelly later tweeted he meant no disrespect to the students or parents of parkland and called his original claim an error in judgment. Well, the army is paying tribute to three junior rotc cadets killed in the school shooting. Alaina petty, martin duque and peter wang have been awarded medals of heroism.
