Tonights concert called band together, has been going nearly five hours now. Tens of thousands of people to benefit north bay fire victims. Abc 7 News Reporter is live at a packed at t park. Lisa . Reporter dan, this event is still going strong believe it or not. There are still people flowing out of the stadium. This event was also sold out, 40,000 people packed this place, and it was all for a good cause. Reporter band togethers headliners, metallica, really drew this crowd in tonight. Reporter all of the performers including Dave Matthews and dead and company volunteered to be a part of this fundraiser, meaning everyone played for free. And everyone on stage, including former giants star barry bonds, came here in hopes of making a difference. Thank you, bay area. Thats why we live here. We ride and die together. Reporter tonight did make a difference to thousands of First Responders and fire victims. They were given free tickets and a priority spot at at t park. Thats exactly my parents house. Reporter the house michelle hammet grew up in coffee park is gone. Nothing is left. It was a punch to the gut. It was just, it was crushing. Reporter but tonight offered a little break from reality, from the worries, the fears, the unknown. This has been amazing. It feels like im back to normal, some kind of normalcy. Reporter over and over again, the ones getting the most praise were the First Responders. Many had a hard time with all of the attention. Just Something Like this, just to give to us back, i mean, we dont ever expect anything. I dont ever want anything back. Pg e is suggesting in Court Filings it was another companys electrical wires that might have caused the destructive tubs fire in the north bay wine country. Pg e made the claim in the response to attorneys who have sued the company for the fires. The utility did not identify the thirdparty. Cal fire is investigating the possible role that downed electrical wires had in starting that deadly inferno. Turning to the weather now, a live look tonight from our sutro tower camera, it is dry and clear right now, but not for long. Meteorologist sappndhya patel i tracking the next round of rain. Next round, sandhya. Thats right. We just got through with one round. On doppler 7 we have cloud cover with exception of the parts of the north bay. The rain is to the north as you take a look on live doppler 7 here. It is right around Crescent City and eureka. Its on the way. This storm system is going to continue to push through northern portion of the state, but the back end of it will come through the bay area. Its a level 1 system, scattered light showers expected tomorrow. Its a trace amounts to tenth of an inch to up to half an inch for the wettest spots. In case youre wondering heres your hour by hour time line. 5 00 a. M. , light to moderate rain in the north bay. As we head to 8 00 a. M. , you will notice the showers begin to spread. Were now able to see what air Traffic Controllers saw when air canada pilots failed to abort a landing attempt at sfo. That is despite several orders to do so. Abc 7 news has obtained video from the airports control tower. 12706, land . A routine message started the controllers conversation with air canada flight 781. Air canada 781 go around. Controllers asked the crew to go around. 781 go around. No one on board responded to six requests in 40 seconds. 781, go around. The controller then asked united flight that landed before the air canada jet to move quickly so it wouldnt be nat way of another united plane landing on the adjacent runway. Without delays, traffic company. While that united plane hurried, the air canada jet landed and finally responded to the tower. Thats pretty evident. Fright nink obviously. The faa is investigating air canada for a near disaster at sfo back in july. Afternoon air canada flight nearly landed on a taxi way lined with packed jet liners, ready for take off. The federal crackdown on certain groups of Illegal Immigrants is now being felt in the vietnamese and cambodian communities. And that is causing worries among san joses large vietnamese population. Reporter he calls the deportation of vietnamese residents a tragedy. It has been affecting families. Some have been detained then whisked away to some far off place, i think in the south or somewhere, louisiana or somewhere fara way. Reporter a source tells abc 7 news 100 vietnamese and cambodian immigrants have been detained across the country all of whom have been convicted of a crime. Richard conda said even so, some may be legally allowed to stay in the u. S. I think there is a lot of fear in the community. One of the things were trying to emphasize is to really know your rights. Reporter vietnam and cambodia have historically refused to take back people who are deported by the united states. But a source tells abc 7 news new negotiations are underway that could change that. Which could be why the communities are being targeted. Immigration and Customs Enforcement wouldnt comment specifically on the situation but released a statement that reads in part, International Law obligates each country to accept the return of its nationals ordered removed from the united states. The wild pigs were caught on this Home Security camera Near West Side drive digging for grubs or subterranean insects. What looks like snow is really green grass being shredded by the pigs as they hunt for food. You cant hear them at all. Reporter yard after yard looks the same. The rainy season is making soil easy to dig and bringing the pigs out in force. Believe it or not, this neighborhood is not the only place where the landscaping is apparently delicious. Sky 7 was over homes in san ramon Canyon Estates where nearly 2 dozen wild pigs have struck properties. Pretty good size pigs there. They can get up to four or 500 pounds. Reporter Don Covington said the Homeowners Association held an emergency meeting about what to do about the renegade pigs which live and breed in nearby open space. Bck on west side drive, the hoa will use an eco friendly means to degrub turf to keep the pigs away. Hopefully that will do it because, you know, we dont want to go to extreme measures. Two highranking aides to the university of california president have quit following a state audit. One of them served as chief of staff or uc system president janet napolitano. Auditors claim the staff interfered with a review of her offices spending habits. A uc spokesperson denies that either of the former executives was forced out. No taxes for older californians. Thats the idea behind a new Ballot Initiative that just got the okay to start collecting signatures. The proposed constitutional amendment would exclude residents 55 years of age and older from paying state or local income tax or even property tax. If it makes the ballot and passes, it would cost the state 60 billion a year. The state would have to make up the difference by reducing spending or raising other taxes and fees. Apple admitted today that the screen on the iphone 10 can temporarily become unresponsive in cold weather. The company says its aware of te issue and will address it in a software update.
