Shes now being sued by the director, but says shes willing to risk it all to help other women come forward. And plane crash mystery. New questions about the tragic accident that killed a former Major League Baseball star. What were now learning about the socalled jet ski with wings. And his wifes warning about the aircraft before he bought it. Is this plane too risky to fly . Good morning, america. So many are waking up to mighty cold temperatures this wednesday morning. And we have those, of course, the Election Results from yesterday. Yeah, big wins for the democrats in virginia and new jersey. Voters said they wanted to send a message to President Trump. Hes in china right now sending a forceful message to north korea. But also keeping the door open to talks. Well have a lot more on all that coming up. Before we get to that well talk about that cold weather were feeling here especially on the northeast, but halfway around the country as well. Hard to believe just a week ago we had springlike temperatures outside feeling good about ourselves. Now the midwest to the northeast are bracing for record cold. And ginger is outside in the middle of it. Good morning, ginger. You hit it on the head. Its just it was just in the 70s five days ago. Now i might be a little extra. Ive got these hand warmers in my pockets because it feels like the 30s. My eyes are tearing and thats what so many of us are dealing with. The first shot came with this, new bloomfield, pennsylvania, a little bit of elevation but you got a hit of snow even in parts of connecticut, massachusetts. That was just the first cold front. The second one is holding back that serious arctic air up in manitoba. You can see subzero actual air temperatures. You release that and gets into the midwest, chicago only at 20 by friday morning, 13 minneapolis, Single Digits above that. And interior new england on saturday morning all the way to new york city, boston, we could be seeing record lows. Look at raleigh, subfreezing. Really extending pretty far south. Ill have much more coming up on the next hit of snow that comes to. George . A lot of 20s. You saw that. Uhhuh. Next this morning on this First Anniversary of President Trumps stunning election victory its the democrats who are celebrating now. Big victories last night in the virginia and new jersey races for governor. With exit polls showing voters wanted to send a message to President Trump. This, as republicans are under pressure to pass their tax bill quickly amid questions about its cost, whether it really benefits the middle class most. The president called into a meeting of Senate Democrats to get their support. The president delivered a forceful address on north Korea Holding open the prospect of talks, but warning, quote, do not underestimate us and do not try us. Our senior White House Correspondent cecilia vega is in beijing with the president. Good morning, cecilia. Reporter hey, george, good morning to you. President trump needs china to help put the pressure on north korea. This is a visit that requires skilled diplomacy. And its one being called his most crucial trip crucial stop of this entire trip. This morning, President Trump touching down in china. The country often uses as a political punching bag rolling the stairs right up to air force one and rolling out the red carpet. President xi jinping and his wife playing tour guide taking President Trump and the first lady to beijings forbidden city. And to a traditional chinese opera. Thats something. Were having a great time. Thank you. Reporter the highstakes visit perhaps President Trumps most important stop yet as he pushes china to ramp up the pressure on north korea. Before leaving seoul, the president delivered a message directly to kim jongun. The weapons you are acquiring are not making you safer. They are putting your regime in grave danger. Every step you take down this dark path increases the peril you face. Reporter but he had a message for china and russia, too. All responsible Nations Must Join forces to isolate the brutal regime of north korea. And to those nations that choose to ignore this threat, ors where still, to enable it, the weight of this crisis is on your conscience. Reporter and he had this warning. Today i hope i speak not only for our countries, but for all civilized nations when i say to the north, do not underestimate us. And do not try us. Reporter a stern warning there. Now despite white house aides repeatedly insisting the president would not take a trip to the dmz the demilitarized zone, that heavily fortified border between north and south korea during this trip, before he left seoul, he boarded marine one and headed for the dmz but the white house says he had to cut that short, turn around about five minutes before landing there blaming bad weather, robin. Okay, cecilia, thank you very much. Now more on the Election Results back here at home. Coming in overnight, democrats seeing a lot of success, you know, coming out on top in that closely watched race for governor in virginia. Our chief National Correspondent tom llamas is there in fairfax. He was up all night tracking this and what these results also mean for President Trump. Good morning, tom. Reporter robin, good morning to you. A big win for democrats and a blow to republicans. A loss the president will likely take personally. Lets start in virginia. Dr. Ralph northam with a decisive victory, this race was called early. He won by nearly double digits. Now so many people were watching this race because virginia is a swing state. Its also the only Southern State that President Trump didnt win. Now, President Trump was very active on twitter campaigning for the republican here, ed gillespie, even recording a robo call yesterday for him. But gillespie chose to never physically campaign with the president and last night when gillespie lost, the president tweeted this out from south korea. Ed gillespie worked hard but did not embrace me or what i stand for. Thats not exactly correct because gillespie did adopt some of the trump policies, he just chose to never physically appear with the president here. So the president taking a parting shot there. We also should mention, robin, 30 of voters told us in exit polls they came out to vote yesterday to show opposition to trump. So the president clearly played a role in this election, robin. The results in new jersey, tom, seem to be telling a similar story. Reporter thats right. It is officially the end of the Chris Christie era. Phil murphy, the democrat, with a big win yesterday in new jersey winning by 12 points in part by tying his opponent, the republican, kim guadagno to the very unpopular governor, Chris Christie. Guadagno the Lieutenant Governor serving under christie and christie, a trump ally that we all know, robin. There was another headline coming out of virginia. The first openly transgender candidate elected to a statehouse. Reporter yeah, this was big news here in virginia. Virginia voters elected the first openly transgender candidate as you mentioned to the statehouse. Now, her name is danica roem and she actually beat the incumbent republican yesterday. And this is someone who was a social conservative and who attacked her gender identity. But she overcame that and once shes elected, she will be the first, as you mentioned, openly transgender candidate to serve in a state house. Ever, thats right. Big moment. Tom, thank you. George. We want to speak to matthew dowd and Meghan Mccain from the view and lets talk about the message. On the one hand the president is now the fifth president in a row to have this happen, lose virginia and new jersey the year after. But the voters so clear here. 21 in virginia, 31 in new jersey. They wanted to send a message to trump. Yeah, they sent a message to trump big time in the course of this. And talk about when he comes back to washington it may be his forbidden city. Hen he comes back in the aftermath of all this. I think it sends a lot of signals but the big takeaway i had from it is the level of diversity and inclusion that happened on election night. Not only the first transgender person elected into office in virginia, the first sikh elected to office in a major city. The first gay mayor of seattle. The first africanamerican woman elected mayor of charlotte. The first woman mayor of manchester. I mean it was a night of total diversity and i think that not only a rejection of trump, i think it was basically a rejection of what he stood for. And the divisions weve seen over the last year. One of the things we saw especially, meghan, in virginia embracing President Trumps policies when youre republican but not President Trump, doesnt work. Always strange bedfellows when youre someone like gillespie who was a lobbyist and sort of the very definition of a swamp creature trying to become trump. And the Weekly Standard headline is that trumpism without trump fails. Imitations of him when you have the legacy gillespie did wasnt going to work. We saw the tweet from President Trump. He said, you know, gillespie wasnt behind me, didnt hug me hard enough basically. The problem with that, that may work in a Congressional District thats solidly, solidly republican. Not going to work in big states and swing states. No. I think republicans have to ask themselves where it is. Its not only that trumpism without trump doesnt work. I dont think trumpism without Hillary Clinton doesnt work in elections. Donald trump is successful just like Magic Johnson and larry bird were better because of their opponents. Hes better because of his opponent Hillary Clinton. In the aftermath of an election like this, where Hillary Clinton is no longer on the ballot, it becomes difficult for republicans to win these races. Voter turnout being 11 higher than election in 2016 is also very significant and the legislative losses is also something that is more unprecedented than the governorship turning. What does this mean for the republican agenda Going Forward as they head into a Midterm Election year . What does it mean for big things like tax cuts . I think it makes it harder and harder to get anything done in the course of this. If youre a republican it comes back to washington in the aftermath of what happened yesterday, you sit down and say, do i really want to embrace all these parts of what donald trump is pushing . Including an unpopular tax bill when you look at the polls, pushed by an unpopular president and makes it much harder. They wonder can they afford to fail. Midterms are coming and there is no peace. The party could not be more fractured when you see President Trump coming out and attacking gillespie this morning saying he didnt support me enough. He wasnt enough like me and conservative media is really taking that side. If you dont support the president enough then basically youre bupkiss at this point. Its a dangerous message Going Forward. If its anything were reading in the tea leaves its a bloodbath. Its a box that hes in. Donald trump is powerful in the republican primary but anchor in the general election. Matt dowd, Meghan Mccain. Thats a solid exit. Over to robin. Come to expect that from our friend, matthew. Now to new developments in that tragic Church Shooting in texas. The pentagon is investigating as we learn even more warning signs were missed. The gunman escaping from a Mental Health facility in 2012 and our senior justice correspondent Pierre Thomas is in washington with more. Good morning, pierre. Reporter robin, good morning. The missed signals are mounting as members of congress are demanding answers as to how this killer was able to buy that murder weapon. And theres word that there might be many more cases like it. And more details are emerging about Devin Kelleys past the more surprising it is he was allowed to buy those guns in the first place. A newly released Police Report shows devin kelley escaping from a new mexico Mental Health facility in june of 2012. Temporarily committed, thought to be a danger to himself and others. The Police Report noting kelley had been caught sneaking firearms onto Holloman Air Force base and was attempting to carry out Death Threats made on his military chain of command. There are enormous problems with the background check system. Reporter the airmans struggle with Mental Health came as he was facing a courtmartial for threatening his wife with a loaded gun, and viciously beating her and his infant stepson. And served a year in prison for domestic abuse. When you only have one instance of a Domestic Violence incident being reported by the military, theres a problem. Reporter that conviction should have barred him from being able to purchase guns. But the air force never forwarded the information to the fbi which does gun background checks. This is clearly a loophole that is a problem. The Defense Department Inspector General is also going to look across the department to make sure everything is checked and that all procedures are clarified. Reporter this morning the fbi facing a major roadblock. They cant open the killers encrypted smartphone which could hold key evidence. I can assure you were working very hard to get into the phone and that will continue until we find an answer. I dont know how long thats going to be, to be quite hops with you. Reporter the investigation wont be enough to heal the hearts of the relatives of the 26 killed here in sutherland springs, texas, charlie uhl telling our matt gutman she last saw her 16yearold daughter haley when she dropped her off at the church. Shes with god. Its the only thing i keep telling myself and i have to try to stay strong. That encrypted phone could contain critical clues. In cases like this time is of the essence, michael, with potential evidence sitting right there with police unable to access it. All right, thank you, pierre. And now well turn to the investigation into that tragic plane crash that killed former Major League Pitcher roy halladay. This morning, were learning new details about the plane he was flying. Passengers in seattle startled overnight when they saw a plane landing with an engine in flames. Luckily no passengers were on board. And the pilots were also uninjured. Scary moment, though. Right now well get to our exclusive interview with the woman facing a lawsuit from hollywood director brett ratner after she accused him of rape. Melanie kohlers Facebook Post last month drew that legal battle from ratner. But as youll see, she is not backing down. Melanie kohler is taking on the hollywood heavyweight behind blockbusters like rush hour and xmen the last stand and in an l. A. Times article last week, brett ratner was also accused of Sexual Misconduct by six other women, including actress olivia munn and natasha henstridge. Earlier, kohler posted her own allegations on facebook. Im just i guess this all started with a Facebook Post you wrote last month a few weeks back where you said ill read from it, brett ratner raped me. A famous director and producer in hollywood. Brett ratner raped me. Im saying his name. You wrote that. I did write that. You stand by it . I stand by it. Shortly after that you actually took the post down. Explain why that happened. So i posted on facebook and was just starting to feel healing about it all. And an hour and a half after i posted, my cell phone rang. So thats marty singer. Thats marty singer. Hes Brett Ratners attorney. Yes. He said he had seen my Facebook Post and that, if i didnt take it down immediately, he had authorization from brett ratner to sue me immediately. And for . For defamation. And i was scared and shocked. Reporter at the time melanie was living in l. A. Working in marketing. In her Facebook Post, she says she met ratner in a club. You first wrote in the Facebook Post that it happened in 2004 2005. You now believe it might have been a couple of years later . Im i just want to im acting here as lawyer to melanie and, melanie, because youve been sued for this, i want you to be careful. Because we dont want to do anything, george, that increases her risk. I want to get some of this as you can understand on the record. Because one other thing you wrote, you never told anyone before. But now, you believe you actually did tell someone. Yes. At the time. Yes. Since this has become such a big deal and so much news is going on about it, my best friend at the time did recall a conversation we had. At the time you were angry, surprised. But didnt tell anyone, perhaps that one friend. Didnt go to the police. Why not . I think its different for everyone who goes through Something Like this, but its so embarrassing. Its so humiliating. Its not something you ever want to relive again. And it just felt like there was nothing that i could do. I didnt think that police could help me. I didnt know if anyone would be willing to go up against someone so powerful. And it just was easier for me to not relive it. Weve seen these stories come out in the last month or so. Now it motivated you to tell your story. Yeah. You know, a lot of people have asked why now . And, its because i cant get through the day without being reminded of it. Its everywhere. Everyone is talking about it. I am so impressed and i have so much respect for these women who are coming forward and sharing these humiliating things that happened to them. Its not something you ever want to tell anybody. It makes people look at you differently. You dont want people to know these things and at least thats the way it has been. Im hoping that the culture is changing. Youre here because of the lawsuit . Im here because of the lawsuit which i actually really dont think, george, is a lawsuit about melanie, frankly. I think the lawsuit was filed by mr. Singer and by brett ratner to send a message to other women to try to stop exactly what you heard melanie talk about. To stop other women from speaking. And i think were here to send a very strong message that its not going to stop melanie from speaking. And its not going to stop other women from speaking. Since the articles originally came out, i think 45 women have come, according to the l. A. Times, have come out since then to tell stories involving mr. Ratner and the truth should come out. If it comes to that youre willing to tell your story in court . Yes. It can get tough, crossexamination. I know and i after the initial phone call, i wanted to curl up in a billion again. And i felt like i was scared and bullied. But, if i have to risk my life and what ive worked so hard for in my life in order to be the voice that helps other women come forward, then i am prepared to do that. Robbie, im not a lawyer. You are. But ive been scratching my head ever since i first read about this case. Wondering why anybody knowing that potentially you can call, what, three dozen witnesses . We intend to. At least three dozen witnesses. So will this really go to court . You know, thats up to mr. Singer, mr. Ratner, but if it does, were prepared. We have the resources to fight back. Ive done this before in my career. And i will do it again. What do you hope comes of all this . I just want women to feel comfortable talking about stuff like this. Its scary. Especially when the person that youre scared of is more powerful than you, has more money then you. When everything feels like its stacked against you, i want women to have the courage to speak out any way, because there will be people that can help them. You know, looks like this fight is just begin. We heard from Brett Ratners lawyer marty singer overnight. He said ratner vehemently denies the outrageous derogatory allegations that have been reported about him. And we are confident that his name will be cleared once the Current Media frenzy dies down and people can objectively evaluate the nature of these claims. He goes on to say for this case specifically and responding to the lawyer here, it is nonsense that the defamation lawsuit filed against ms. Kohler is a tactic of trying to silence women. No such thing is occurring. Sowns like hes ready to keep pushing this fight. Yeah, because shes not the only one accusing him of things like this. And what she said about hoping that the culture is changing because the fear, the fear that many men and women who go through this. The fear and shame as she explained of not wanting to come forward because of that feeling and that appears to be changing. Hopefully so. Coming up here on gma we have the new Surveillance Video just released of the mom who says she was kidnapped on a jog. What this video may reveal about the case. Te to severe plaque psoriasis,. We are back now with that new Surveillance Video authorities believe shows Sherri Papini, the mother who went missing for weeks last november and was finally found on thanksgiving. Our senior National Correspondent matt gutman has been on this story since the beginning. Good morning, matt. Reporter good morning, robin. That video is fuzzy. But it is a key element corroborating Sherri Papinis story. You see her running through that tiny Northern California town frantically searching for held inspect the minutes after her release. Barefoot and bruised. This morning, the Shasta County Sheriffs Office releasing this never before seen video they say is Sherri Papini in the moments after she was released by her abductors on thanksgiving morning, 2016. The video was recorded around 4 15 a. M. Police say that shadowy figure is papini running past the jehovahs Witness Church trying to get help before disappearing out of view. A few moments later she runs back the other way, this time towards interstate 5. When i interviewed her husband keith papini last year, he described those harrowing moments for his wife. Shes screamed so much, she said she was coughing up blood from the screaming, trying to get somebody to stop. And shes saying, well, maybe people arent stopping because i have a chain and it look like i broke out of prison. So she tried to tuck in her chain under her clothes. Reporter finally a trucker pulled over for her. Hands in restraints, long blonde hair cut short, Police Report she was battered, bruised. She had been missing for 22 days. The young mother of two also branded with a message now reported to be a cluster of letters on her right shoulder. In that interview keith told me she was almost unrecognizable. The bruises were just intense. Everybody gets a bruise once in awhile, but not these types. These are hard to look at. Reporter her abductors have never been caught and many questions remain about what exactly happened that day and who took her. Keith called 911 when he came home from work finding out that his wife hadnt picked up their kids from daycare. Oh, my god. And i understand youre freaking out a little bit. We want to we want to make sure we get your kids. Reporter now, the problem with those sketches is that Law Enforcement officials tell me they dont have a shred of evidence leading to the two Hispanic Women that Sherri Papini described. Theres Something Else that concerns them and thats how vague her memory is not only of her captivity but also the minutes and hours leading up to it. Robin . Very bizarre, all right. Thank you, matt. Always front and center, thanks very much. And we have big news from twitter this morning. The social media giant is doubling its character limit for nearly everyone. Most tweets will now fit 280 characters. Thats a lot of responsibility. Our chief Business Correspondent Rebecca Jarvis is here with us this morning. What you got, rebecca . So, michael, as im sure you can imagine a lot of reaction to this, where else, on twitter. One of my personal favorites this tweet from nba referees, now that we all have 280 characters, we expect your twitter complaints about specific calls against your favorite teams to be calm, wellreasoned and full of complete sentences. Thanks in advance for this positive step forward in basketball officiatingrelated discourse. Nice. Yes, so, yes, we shall see if that tweet holds. Wishful thinking, i would say, but twitter long discussed giving users more categories, more ability to share more of their thoughts on twitter. They stuck to 140 because thats how many characters would fit in a text message. Thats how twitter got its start as a text message. Why are they doing this . Why did they go to 280 . Their bottom line is whats key here. They can make more money when more people are tweeting, more people are using twitter. They recognize that some people feel confined by that 140. This 280 gives people a little more optionality but, again, its about making more money and drawing more people on to the platform. I liked the 140. You had to be more creative. You have to be a little more clever and to the point and i like also those tweet storms. Well see if they keep up now that the thread of multiple tweets, now you can say it all maybe in one. We shall see. I was part of that test group that got an early 280, double, and didnt really change what i didnt even realize it. Thats an interesting point. They said actually the people in the test group, most of the time they actually stuck to 140. Not now. Not now. Get ready. Didnt want to brag that we had the 280. Once you get used to 280, 420 is next. Thats it. Just saying. Good number. Good number as your friend would say. Also this morning, Kate Middleton is stepping out in london. All right, lara, you guys warm up a little bit. Cold. Very special for glenn campbell. We are back now with our gma health alert and theres a new warning, i dont know if youre able to talk about this. A new warning between the link between alcohol and cancer. Experts say Drinking Alcohol may contribute to about 20,000 cancer deaths a year and dr. Jennifer ashton is back with us. That is a very tricky path. I just want to say. Walking from you navigated this very well and we didnt plan this. Not at all. This is a very serious subject. What is the Research Showing here . Well, sorry to be the bearer of bad news here but this is really the first time that the countrys top group of cancer doctors issued this statement really to increase awareness about the fact that we know alcohol is a carcinogen. Which means it is known to cause cancer. At this point we know that there is an association between alcohol and cancer of the head and neck, the esophagus, breast and Colorectal Cancer so potentially this is low hanging fruit in terms of a risk factor that people can potentially modify. We have known this but people have been afraid to talk about this. Everyone is. The lay public and the medical community and part of that comes from because theres a murky area because weve heard the term moderate. Yeah. Yeah. What is moderate . I want to show you some visuals here. I want to encourage people both here and at home to shift your perspective about this quantity. Most people have heard moderate for women up to one drink a day. For men up to two drinks a day. I know when i talk to patients about that they go, i dont drink every day. Yeah, but on the weekends theyre still having seven drinks so guess what, that meets criteria so now we have to talk about whats a serving. When talking about wine, a lot of us at gma are big wine fans, it is a fiveounce serving this is the equivalent of seven servings of wine in a week. All right. So think about that visual. For hard alcohol im a clear tequila fan. Tequila. You do. I am. So its 1 1 2 ounces of hard liquor. If you take that on the rocks and someone brings a drink that looks like this youll say thats not one drink. Double that. Well now youre not just having one drink youre having two servings and for beers its 12 ounces and we have to remember, ipas in general can have a slightly stronger alcohol content. What do you suggest for people who want to cut back . Drop your intake anyway you can. Whether dropping the days of week you drink or two drinks in a setting to one or the amount, exactly and something thats real easy to do. If you know when you go out you drink. Dont go out. Okay. [ laughter ] simple solution. You know what doctors say, if it dont hurt, dont do it. Thank you. George. Guys well take an inside look at the exclusive Recovery Center linked to both kevin spacey and Harvey Weinstein as they face those repeated allegations of Sexual Misconduct. Juju chang has details. After a tidal wave of accusations both men dropping out of the public eye and seeking treatment. Now, sex addiction is not a formal clinical diagnosis but psychologists say there is predatory behavior and then theres the compulsion behind it. Of course, as you can imagine this Treatment Center it shielded in privacy and has all the upscale amenities. And this chamber chooses to debate me . Reporter house of cards Actor Kevin Spacey says hes taking the time necessary to seek evaluation and treatment. And disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein told the press last month guys, im not doing okay. Im trying. I got to get help. Reporter more than 70 women accusing weinstein of Sexual Harassment including some claims of assault, coercion or rape. And spacey on the heels of netflix cutting ties with the star has faced multiple allegations of unwanted sexual advances against young male actors. According to the daily mail spacey reportedly checked himself into this 55,000 Treatment Facility called gentle path at the meadows in arizona. Weinstein is also reportedly attending the program according to tmz. The movie mogul spotted sporting a blond wig dining at a restaurant an hour and a half from the clinic. The elite facility seen here on their website runs a 45day mens Inpatient Treatment Program for sexual addiction issues and sexual compulsion. Where patients undergo counseling and experiential therapy to deal with it. They do art therapy. Aye kwa therapy, ropes course and all go through a survivors week which is special program that they do at the meadows which takes you through childhood trauma. Reporter dr. Jill vermeer worked there for a year as the Program Director for willow house, the womens counterpart to gentle path. Theres four people to a room. And a shared bathroom. This is not a day spa. This is not a vacation. If anyone thinks theyre going to just chill out and get massages, its the farthest thing from the truth. Reporter is secluded desert spot boths a fitness center, pool with yoga and hosted so ther celebrity clients over the years reportedly including tiger woods and david duchovny. Psychologists estimate 15 million americans may battle sex addiction even though a formal diagnosis doesnt exist. There is still no clear comparison between addiction and assault. To some extent its apples and oranges. On the one hand were trying to describe a behavior and on the other hand were trying to get whats motivating a person to act in that fashion. Those are really two separate issues. Of course, we should note seeking treatment does make you immune in prosecution. Now, grand jury action in the Harvey Weinstein case could reportedly be in the works. The nypd said last week there was probable cause to arrest weinstein for the alleged rape of actress paz de la huerta but only the das office can actually bring a case and so far no grand jury. But there have been a lot of rumblings. Juju, thanks very much. Over to ginger. George, it is time for your gma moment. This has to be one of my favorites we have ever received. When my agent first called and said abc would love you to do this medical pilot. I said i hate medical shows. Im a hypochondriac. He said just do the pilot and take the paycheck. These things never go. They never go. These pilots never go and here i am. What is your favorite part of playing meredith . I get to sort of be a superhero in scrubs and play an ordinary person. Shes very real. And very flawed but very strong. Reporter to celebrate the show i went behind the scenes to learn just what it takes to get into the o. R. I am ready. Sleeves are up, hands are up. So hold your arms up. Feels kind of good actually. Yeah, uhhuh. Like the first time it feels good. The 30th time when your skin is raw then you want to scrub your nails with the scrub part. How long do you scrub for . In real life they scrub a little bit longer. On tv we do it pretty good as long as the dialogue takes. Then you go backwards, yeah, then we got to go up to dont trip over here. Go up to the table. Put the gown on then you put the gloves on and tie your thing. Yep, uhhuh. Like a dance. Yeah, you go like this. Uhhuh and then you say ten blade. Ten blade. Ten blade. Reporter but before i could begin, i needed tips from greysloans other longest cast members. You three have been here since the beginning. How much do you know in advance whats going to happen throughout the season . Oh, gosh, its script to script. It really is script to script. Yeah. You talk to the writers at the beginning of the season and theyll give you an idea where the characters might head but things change on a dime and we just rock n roll with it. Another storm sunday night and monday. Well have another abc7 news update in about 30 minutes and always on our news app and abc7news. Com. Welcome back to gma and as we said earlier we have a great audience here and when you have a great audience you have to bring out a great guest. And were going to bring one to the table. Hes a superstar actor and producer and now hes back on the big screen in a new comedy daddys home 2. Please welcome Mark Wahlberg. Welcome to my house i came bearing gifts. How are you . [ cheers and applause ] good to see you. How are you . Yes, i came. Here, robin. I came with a gift. Thank you. Michael. Wow. Thank you. Thank you, sir. I came with a gift. Isnt that sweet . Unlike my costar will ferrell who regifted a fruit basket. Sarcasm. This sincerity and love that i bring with these gifts. Its going to be warm. I would put that on but would mess up my mike situation. You can regift it. You and will arent competitive at all so, no. Not at all. I cannot believe he gave you fruit from the dressing room. You actually gave him. I heard you messed with him end the scenes on the set. We actually love each other but there are moments in the movie where john lithgow and him have to kiss for an awkwardly long time and will was a little he didnt like it that much but he didnt want to say anything so i kept telling john he really liked it a lot. So not open mouth or open mouth just air, not tongue but it was one of those things where will started getting really like annoyed and then john is it just, you know, hes a wonderful, sweet man and started trying to kiss me and i was like thats it. John plays his father. Mel gibson plays your father. You have any scenes like that. You know, we are not the type to really show affection. So i do get a little jealous that theyre able to show affection. He has never told me he loved me and i talked about how he sent me to military school when i was a kid and said i was witting the bed but i was 4 years old so we had a tough, tough relationship. But the whole movie is about us working together to kind of finally come together and bond. So i dont want to give away what happens. I dont want to give it away either. I loved it. Loved the first one. Really loved the second one. [ applause ] and talk about mel. The different dynamics and how fathers raise their children. What kind of dad do you think you are . Well, it depends. I try to be pretty strict but yet i want to be really cool and want them to perceive me as cool but i have a tendency to embarrass my kids and its always trying to be affectionate. Want to get a hug or kiss usually at school or the football field and theyre like get away from me. If i have to introduce them to will i can be perceived as cool for short spurts. You were featured on gqgq website, the most dad outfit of all time. Oh, wow. Thats adult attire. Going to play golf. But i have my food so thats pretty bad training for a movie so i promised the director i was going to get in shape and im carrying food. Thats pretty bad. Thats bad, yeah, 46. Thats what happens. You dont look in the mirror when you leave the house at. You just go. [ laughter ] you guys want to see some of the movie . Yes. [ cheers and applause ] snowblower. Oh. I love this scene. I love this. Let it go. Aaagh. Let it go. Aaagh. Are you all right . Look what you did to the side of my car, man. This is what you wanted. [ applause ] this was a great test audience. This woman was laughing hysterical hysterically. A lot of bad things happen to will in this movie and im usually just standing by observing. People are like, wow, did you do your own stunts. I did them all this time. Mel gibson is not normally nope for comedy. What was it like working with him. Will and i were so comfortable with each other. Had the same crew and cast from the first movie so will and a do a lot of improvising and the first day it was like, oh, my god, these guys are going crazy but then he just jumped right in. He had such a good time throughout the entire movie. I remember the last day we were actually doing this giant dance sequence and singing which i hate and im like, oh, my god, im just waiting for my part and see mel dancing out of control and its like, he isnt even on camera and played the part to a tee to find a guy to play dustys dad and be that cool coming down the stairs and make dusty nervous and anxious theres only one guy.
