Tell us where you were when the shooting took place. I was in the vip section. What did you see . What did you hear . At first i heard what sounded like firecrackers. Im not very experienced with guns. Then i saw a big group in the center of the general admission ground just duck and cover while half of the other group just ran in the opposite direction away from the strip. Just tell us about i know there was a lot offenses around. People were just doing whatever they could to escape. Yes. We were closest to the outside fence. So we made our way down there. Thankfully all of the officials there were trained to lead us in the right way. There were many leaders who rose from the group saying to push the fence down. So we all did and we kept running away from the strip as fast as we could. I know you were trying to as much as you were fearful for your life you were trying to help as many people as possible too . Yes. A lot of people were in a worse position than i was in the fact that they were of course emotional. They were crying hysterically. I remained more calm. So i just tried to comfort them as much as i could. As i was running i saw an older woman, probably as old as my grandma. I tried to help her as well. I stayed with her until my dad came to pick me up. Bless your heart. How were you able to stay calm diana . I think its just the shock. I still am sitting here unable to process what happened. Youre no doubt in a level of shock right now. Thank you so much for sharing your story and how you helped. Diana take care please. 400 injured. Medical Health Professionals will have to deal with posttraumatic stress for so many. We want to go to kenneth mo ten. Hes on the scene right now at the shooters house. We just reached the scene a few minutes ago. This is the neighborhood of the alleged shooter Stephen Paddock. I want to get out of the way of the camera. Theres a police car with mesquite police. Theyre securing the scene and keeping us away from his house. Its up the street. Theyre securing the street and the house for las vegas p. D. So they can execute a search warrant. If you look further up the street, you can see theres a command post that local police have set up in this area. Again, theyre not allows us to go past this point. We have know for about two years Stephen Paddock lived here in this Bedrock Community for reti retires. We dont see that much activity as far as the neighbors. People are starting to come out. Theyre starting to hear the news what happened in las vegas about 70 miles away from here. Theyre finding out it was the neighbor in this case. Were trying to find out from police when they plan to execute that search warrant. Theyre looking for any clues that will lead to a motive and figure out what lead paddock to las vegas to execute this heinous crime. This is the latest on this scene. Thank you. Were joined by ray kelly former chief of the new york city police, david brown and our chief legal analyst dan abrams. We have saw the police on the scene, ray kelly, basically lock down all of las vegas. Now they seem convinced it was one shooter. Thats what you have to do. Youve dont know if theres another shooter or series of shooters that sort of thing. The smartest and safest thing to do is lock down the area. It also gives emergency vehicles more access to the immediate scene. Dan, needless to say there are countless legal issues. Many want to know how he got his hands on these weapons. Thats right. One of the first things theyll look at is his computer. They judy want to know what was he looking for, what was he searching for, who was he talking to. That can be a trove of possible evidence. Its not just about what was his motive. Thats almost secondary. What i mean by that is the most important thing is figuring out was he working with anyone, who was helping him et cetera. Thats the crime investigation. The sort of the motive the why did he do it, the how could he do it. Thats important. Its really important. Immediately what they want to deal with is figuring out is there anyone else we need to get and where might that person be. So it doesnt happen again so quickly. Exactly. They seem to have ruled out his roommate whos out of the country. He had very few clues out there to lead you to believe he would do Something Like this. Yes. Thats why i think dan and ray are correct. Were trying to figure out his associations with friends and family, extended family, extended friends. You want to follow his trail, where he visited to make sure theres no victims that hes killed along the way that we just dont know about. Of those associations has he mentioned this wanting to kill in a mass way this many people. Theres so much more to be done from an investigative standpoint and we need to be continued to be engaged in what Law Enforcement is learning. Ray, in addition to what dan is saying what are investigators doing snow . Theyre going to execute the warrant. They want to see whats inside his home. Theyll be questioning a lot of companions people who know him, people in the neighborhood. I would bet the behavior will start to come out. Hes john q citizen but he did this and that. The killer at Virginia Tech actually wore a sword for several days on campus. People just kind of accept that. We want people now to be much more alert to this kind of activity. Were going to start looking at now we know he was at the hotel since september 28th theyll want to know what was he doing. Las vegas is the home of surveillance cameras. Theyre everywhere. Well get a good sense if he left that hotel room where he was, where he went. They reported so far i dont understand. They used his companions id to get into the hotel. When things are breaking, informs kind of trickles out. Then we learn it wasnt precisely what we had initially thought. My guess is were going to learn he didnt check in using her id, but maybe used her identification at one point at the hotel in some way shape or form, maybe to get gambling money. I dont know. Theyre really careful in vegas about identification. Its not the place you can give a fake id and they say whatever. I think well learn more that makes that make sense. To be there sense thursday in a big hotel 10 guns. With all this maid service you would think somebody would have to have seen something. I think the big challenge is getting the witness testimony to link to together to get a story, to get a narrative about his first few days in las vegas. Then to walk that back as many days as you can particularly if he visited a practice gun range in the days preceding so you can kind of hear what people that were there to practice shooting saw, noticed about him. Then you can piece together the Current Events and the days and hours before this happened to pull together a real story of exactly what was his state of mind, what happened, what did we miss, what did people see but didnt report so you can learn from this. A lot more left to learn. I want to go back to the white house. Cecilia vega were expecting to hear from the president soon. Yes, george. Aides are trying to finalize the details. Were told hell be addressing the nation about the shooting at some point this morning. We know hes been briefed this morning. Hes following the events in las vegas closely. The white house is offering its support to the local and state officials. We have saw that tweet earlier from President Trump saying his warmest condolences and sympathies to the victims and families of the terrible Las Vegas Shooting. God bless you. A number of reactions pouring in from the first lady. Former president obama saying he and michelle are praying for the victims. This will be the second time that President Trump will have to address the nation after a large scale shooting. He did it in june after the shooting after the congressional baseball practice. Very different. Unlike in past events the president has not been too quick with that twitter. He had the condolences no other tweets from the president. No ascribing of motive. No labelling of the event. Thats right. It took a while for him to tweet his response. It was 7 00 a. M. Eastern time we heard a statement from the white house and the few finish after that with the president s tweet. He said in the past he wait toss hear the details and learn the facts. Perhaps that was this case here. We will hear from President Trump later. Do we expect hell still be going to puerto rico tomorrow . Good question. I have asked the white house that. We dont have an answer. As you say hes supposed to go tomorrow. That trip right now is still in the works. I would imagine thats a conversation being had behind closed doors at this hour as these events are unfolding. The white house has to decide whether this is a trip he will take in light of whats taken place. Were going to bring back pierre thomas. Robin we know the attorney general has been on the phone with officials in las vegas. As the police told george a little while ago, this man hasnt showed up in any significant way in terms of terrorism or crime. Its a bit of a mystery as to why this man did this. Also Law Enforcement officials all over the fact there were ten weapons in that room. They hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav they hav thank you for joining us. That is the moment jason aldean on the stage during a Country Music festival in las vegas. Its turned into the deadliest mass shooting in american history. That was the moment a 64yearold man opened fire in las vegas. More than 50 people killed, more than 400 injured. 20,000 attended the concert. Lisa fine was there and attended all three days of the concert. Lisa, thank you for joining us. I can only imagine you still must be in shock. Yeah. This is the scariest thing thats ever happened in my entire life. To know all those people were getting killed right in front of us. We were in the vip section. As soon as i started hearing the bullets i knew it was gunfire. I told everybody to get down. Get down. Get down. People kept telling me its not real. I said it is real get down. I knew the bullets were flying everywhere and if we got up we could die. I saw people getting shot right in front of me. It was horrifying. I saw somebody trying to save somebodys life. I saw some man run from the bleacher toss go out there and risk his life to save somebody. We have didnt know what to do. Finally it seemed like it went on for about 20 minutes. Then i just recording because i thought if im going to die i wanted my kids and my family to know what happened and when we finally the bullets started to slow down and we climbed underneath the bleachers on our stomachs. We have stayed there forever. We saw a truck that had bodies piled in it. It was the scareyest thing ive ever heard in my entire life. I can only imagine. Youve said it seemed like 20 minutes. It was only about 4 1 2. I think every second is an eternity. It felt like forever. When i saw people down on the ground, i wasnt sure who was hit and who was laying down to stay away from the bullets. How did you i havent slept all night. I cant even imagine all those people are dead. It might take sometime before youre able to sleep again. I can believe that. How did you finally get out . You say you crawled under the bleachers. We climbed down underneath and stayed under the metal as long as we could. We didnt know the bullets could have went through that. We figured he was slooting hoot targets and everybody was running. How did you know when it was over . Well, the bullets just stopped flying. There would be a delay and you could tell it was a semi automatic weapon and they stopped. Then they would continue. Finally they stopped for a longer paid of time. Thats when we thought we need to make a break for it. Were you able to call your family and friends. I called my friends and family and my kids ashley and brandon. I called my mom and sister and told everybody we were okay and we lived. I just cant stop shaking. I keep thinking of all those people shot and wounded. My heart just breaks. I cant imagine their families what theyre going through. It is so so horrifying the number of people killed, the number of people injured. From what you were seeing could you tell where the shots were coming from and whether there was any kind of targeting or just mass spraying of the weapons. It felt to me like it was coming from the hotel. It just sounded like it was further away. It was raining down. You could hear bullets hitting. People were just crying. At first you say you knew right away what it was. For several seconds there jason aldean kept playing. A lot of people thought it might have been part of performance or fireworks or fake. A lot of people thought it was fireworks. I kept screaming to get down it was bullets. Kept saying stay down. Stay down. Did you ever imagine you would be in a situation like this . Whats that . Did you ever imagine you would be in a situation like this . Never. Never. Now aye days you think you could go anywhere and it would happen. Now its happened to me and my friends. Im afraid to fly and im going to california. Were glad youre okay. All of us are thinking of all the victims right now. Thank you, lisa. Im glad shes back at the apt and will be back with her family and loved ones. As you can major n an out flowing of support. Of course country mu si stars are showing their support. It was supposed to be a celebration of Country Music. Were hearing all that support from Country Music stars and so many more. The response has been overwhelming. Jason al deern who was performing when the shots rang out posting on instagram his thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved. It hurts his heart that this would happen to everyone that was coming out to enjoy a fun night. First Lady Melania Trump saying my heart and prayers goes out to victims families and loved. Ivanka trump also tweeting our cl collective hearts are breaking. Neil Patrick Harris saying i cant wrap my head around the aye trosty in vegas. Josh gad pleading to an end to the violence adding he is sick to his stomach as so many are this morning. Kate hudson saying her thoughts and prayers with the las vegas community. The Country Music community reeling. Kelsea tweeting just sad. Brad pazly saying no words. Ma tina mcbride saying she is pleading for everybodys safety. Just seeing the horrific violence that took place when will it end . You wake up whats it going to take . Every month we hear of another one. We want to bring in our Security Consultant steve gomez right now. Steve, youve dealt with situations like this. So far we know he had an arsenal in that room. Ten weapons. Yes. What he did was he identified a gap in security and he exploited it to the highest degree. Having all those weapons, having to target where people are con gre gaiting. He exploited this worse than anyone could. It shows the vulnerability. Theres no way to protect every soft target. You cant have a s. W. A. T. Team at every event in the country. No. It could be at a casino or hotel. It could be at a Business Building and people have access to the window say in new york city or downtown l. A. Its going to require maybe different way of handling security at buildings to insure that nobody is bringing in ten rifles. Steve, it was interesting when we heard the sheriff say they didnt know whether or not it was terrorism. They dont believe any link to international terrorism. He said you have to meet certain criteria to be domestic terrorism. Yes. Thats something the fbi and local Law Enforcement will look at to see whether he had some leaning towards the myly sha groups. Thats something that will be part of the investigation. So far from what were seeing in his background and more information will come in every minute every hour, not a lot of clues there as to why he did this. Thats where they have to get into his mind set. The biggest challenge is hes 64 years old. Some people at that age dont use computers and smart phones. His social media profile might be nonexistent. There may be a gap in the collection of evidence we would normally see with regards to building a profile of his state of find. They said thats what they want to go through right away. The one thing we have seen the picture from his former roommates facebook account, but nothing from him. Right. Theyre going to look at her social media, her emails. Looking at everyone she talked about with regards to paddock, any Family Members, friends. He lived in a number of places. The investigation is going to take them to all those different states and places he worked. They did reach the companion who was out of the country. Were going to go back to matt. Robin, i want to break it down for you. That one shooter using up to 10 rifles, 200 rounds, 400 people wounded, 50 people killed. There were 22,000 people at the concert. One of the reasons there was so much chaos is the canyon effect of the shots ricochetting in the urban environment made it difficult to know where the gunfire was coming from. Thats why there was false alarms up and down the strip. Then you had a problem that First Responders couldnt get to the people that needed help because they believed it was still an active shooter situation. Thats why you have these images of people being moved out of that area on these makeshift stretchers created from barricades. They were putting them on the flat beds of pickup trucks anything to get them out of that area out of that kill zone. What were seeing in las vegas is a city traumatized. Its almost hard to fathom how many people have traumatized by this shooting robin. We have to keep that in mind. Just the beginning. We have some new images right now. It shows the window of the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel where the shooter was found dead, not before firing 200 shots into the crowd of 20,000 people. Injuring 400, killing more than 50. That had a panoramic view of the concert site. Apparently he had been there since september 28th. Dan abrams you were telling us for him to go that long he must have stayed inside that room. Either stayed inside the room or were going to have an enormous amount of survey lns footage of him. Las vegas being one of the most surveilled cities in the country. Were live all across the country. Lots of new details coming in. Well be right back. I am the force behind those who stand between us and all who mean us harm. And for those serving far from home, i am the force that makes sure home has their back. I am the force behind all who serve, connecting them to every comfort of family, home and country possible. We are the force we are the force behind the forces behind the forces we are the force behind the forces. [male narrator] visit uso dot org slash force to learn how you can be the force behind the forces. Hd 5 years. Were were back live on gma. 50 people killed. 400 taken to the hospital. Joining us is dr. Book mayer and dr. Jen ashton whos in puerto rico this morning. Doctor talking about 400 people going to the hospital in the las vegas area. You can prepare all you want. That is a graetd task for the hospitals to undertake. Absolutely robin. Thats a very key. 1 not being discussed in our health care preparedne preparedness. It sounds like the University Medical center has practiced. We area grateful for that. To take on 400 wounded is an enormous task. You have to have leadership that will command. You have to have physicians, nurses ready on call 24 7. We can tell from talking to the eye witnesses who happened to survive this morning that youre going to have so many thousands dealing with shock and posttraumatic stress in the days and weeks. I think let me throw that to you, doctor. As you heard from one of the witnesses the scenes were traumatizing. Ptsd will linger from months to years to lifetimes. The 20,000 or more people that were at that concert and loved ones and families and the number of people touched by this will have stress. We heard there are two teenagers in the hospital. Those kind of undocumented casualties are going to be long lasting. I dont think they even real ie realize theyre in shock. The way they were describing what they were experiencing, the emotions didnt match what they were saying. Thats a very normal phenomenon. Its going to take weeks for them to go through the phases of understanding and analyzing situation. How do medical professionals deal with that . Luckily we have training. As a neurosurgeon ive been trained with trauma response my whole career. Each of us in the medical field whether a Nurse Practitioner tigs inner even an administrator weve had the mind set of anticipating these events. Got to take a quick break. Thank you very much. Well be right back. I was inside. We refused to believe it was a shooting. Until it just kept going and going and then jason aldean left the stage and then everybody started fleeing and we started fleeing. We didnhad to hop a gate to get of it was crazy. It was very short increments where there were breaks in between the shots. But it literally felt like it just continued for 20 minutes straight. And every time there was a break we ran. And we ran. And i still wasnt even sure if it was actually bullets until one of the times we paused our friend, the guy next to us, got shot. People started dropping around us and everybody tried to stay down and every time a group would get up to try to run away they would start shooting again. They were getting closer and people were going theres someone shooting right there. A lot of dead bodies. A lot of people were just piling on top of whoever even if theyre bleeding or not. People were holding peoples wounds down, stay down. Girls were in shock and wouldnt even move. We were all sitting there looking at each other thinking were going to diana secy guard got shot right in front of us. Another got shot right next to me. We thought we were going to die. I called my mom. I was just calling my mom to tell her i love her and goodbye. Everyone bottle necked and just opened fire and he was picking people off. You could hear bullets coming through the tents going off the bleachers, ricochetting. All the walls and the location were 10 to 15 feet high. We just couldnt climb them. So everyone was bottle necked. There was no escape. We were penned in. It was a kill box. I witnessed multiple people in wheelchairs getting flipped over, trampled, people were climbing over people.
