And if the politicians in San Francisco, or other cities with similar sanctuary policies do not act on this i, my fear is that this will happen again. Sanchez goes back to court july 27th. California senator feinstein sent a letter to ed lee regarding this case that reads in part quote, the tragic death of miss steinly could have been avoided if the Sheriffs Department notified ice prior to releasing mr. Sergio what are they saying . Reporter there was a regular board of supervisors meeting around 2 00. Most of the conversation leading up to that meeting surrounded San Franciscos sanctuary city policy especially now, because of this case. This is video during the signing ceremony. It prevents the citys Law Enforcement agencies from cooperating with immigration and Customs Enforcement requests the Mayors Office responded to a letter from senator feinstein asking San Francisco reexamine its relationship with ice. But the author of the ordinance says that is not needed. Every board member voiced sympathies but says the ordinance is not the problem. Supervisor campos is curious why immigration agents didnt get a warrant for sanchez i imagine and hope if there is someone who is threat to public safety, that those steps are taken. A spokesperson for ice said they handed him over to sheriff officials in march and issued an immigration detainer to pick him up. San francisco, and other jurisdictions dont recognize detainers between january 2014 and june 2015. California agencies declined more than 10,000 immigration holds, more than the rest of the country combined. With the new scrutiny, the supervisor says sanchez should be held responsible. Police are telling their side of the story after the shooting death of a 19yearold suspect and were hearing from the teenagers family for the first time. 19yearold was shot and killed by Police Sunday morning as Police Responded to an alarm at a pleasanton car dealership. The mayor turned his life around. He doesnt even speak the language. Still, ice officials maintain as a convicted aggravated felon he remains an enforcement priority based on his criminal history. Some coworkers criticize ice for trying to deport him while Francisco Sanchez fell through the cracks. They showed how flawed it is. Its not known if or when, his deportation will come through. A landlord will not be able to raise rent on a tenant after evicted they can only rent at the same rent you were paying. Firefighters contained a brush fire in bay point today the flames broke out at about 1 30, burning about 20 acres before crews got it under control. Crews put out a brush fire near danville this afternoon. The fire about 30 acres and contained just after noon. A call for firefighters not to fly personal drones near the flames. Firefighters spotted several drones in the area. Crews had to ground their firefighting aircraft as a result. Officials say its difficult to track down someone flying a drone. We cant tell them theyre in the fire area. Weve got to ground aircraft until Law Enforcement can track that person down and get them out of the area.
