NAIROBI, May 25 (Xinhua) -- Kenya plans to prioritize conference tourism in order to boost the hospitality sector, a senior government official said on Monday evening.
Najib Balala, cabinet secretary of Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife told journalists in Nairobi that the country's tourism sector has been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 travel restrictions.
Balala observed that the meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) market is a resilient sector because it involves meetings of people from diverse sectors of the economy and can help the country reduce its dependence on beach and safari tourism.
