Police forces around B.C. are cracking down on drivers who refuse to leave their phone alone.
March is Distracted Driving/Occupant Restraint Awareness Month and police will be ramping up enforcement for distracted driving.
“Fatal and serious injury motor vehicle collisions due to distracted driving are completely preventable and BC RCMP Traffic Services is reminding drivers to keep your eyes on the road and your hands up on the wheel,” Cpl. Mike Halskov, BC RCMP Traffic Services, Media Relations Officer, said.
Police say distracted driving is responsible for more than 25 per cent of all car crash fatalities and is the second leading cause of fatal collisions in B.C., resulting in an average of 78 deaths each year.
