Little girls are prayed for, taken to a special restaurant or given a special meal at home, and their dolls are brought out for display. The dolls can be new, just for the one little girl, or may be passed down in the mother or grandmother’s family. Fine silks and many times, handmade porcelain dolls are dressed in ceremonial kimono, complete with some accessories. Their re-carpeted, stair-stepped stand allows large sets of dolls to be displayed.
Besides the gorgeous kimonos and celebrations, the foods for this day are different than many you’d expect to find during the rest of the year.
