Italy's Ministry of Culture sets aside 5 million euros for minority co-productions
Nicola Borrelli, director of the General Directorate for Cinema and Audiovisual Works
The General Directorate for Cinema and Audiovisual Works of the Ministry of Culture in Italy yesterday published a call for proposals with a budget of 5 million euros to support the production of feature films made under a co-production or minority partnership scheme. These are works in which the participation of the Italian company is a minority, with respect to the participation of the non-Italian company which owns the highest share of rights of use and exploitation of the work. They must therefore be works created by one or more Italian companies and one or more non-Italian companies based in a country with which a film and audiovisual co-production agreement exists and is in force, or (in the case of international partnership) in a country with which such agreements do not exist (download the announcement here).
