We’ve known that Intel is working on Alder Lake-P processors for laptops for a while now, but we haven’t had much indication of performance or specs. That is beginning to change this week, as an Alder Lake-P CPU has finally appeared in a benchmark database.
According to the Geekbench 5 entry found by @Benchleaks, this unnamed Alder Lake-P processor features 14x cores and 20 threads. This “odd” core configuration is because of Alder Lake’s hybrid design, featuring big cores (high-performance) and small cores (high-efficiency), where the big cores feature Hyper-threading and the small ones don’t. The 14C/20T core configuration is achieved by using 6x big cores with HT (12x threads) and 8x small cores. This results in 6 + 8 = 14 cores and 12 + 8 = 20 threads. According to previous leaks and given the 6+8 core configuration, this processor might well be the flagship SKU of the series.
