Integration continues between BSOM, Vidant Health

East Carolina University’s Brody School of Medicine (BSOM) witnessed the selection of new deans, Michael Waldrum and Jason Higginson, in hopes to strengthen the collaboration among the medical school and Vidant Health Medical Center. 
A press release from ECU Chancellor Philip Rogers on June 23 said Waldrum, who serves as chief executive officer of Vidant Health, will continue his role with Vidant Health in addition to his new role as dean of BSOM. The press release said Higginson will serve as executive dean of BSOM.
Board of Trustees (BOT) Chair Vern Davenport said ECU and Vidant Health have continued to improve their relationship with each other over the past eight years. He said the integration is unique as Vidant Health is not affiliated with ECU because ECU doesn’t own Vidant Medical Center.
