Members of the Atikamekw community can expect to be better served at Joliette Hospital in the wake of measures announced Thursday by the local health authority, the Quebec health ministry and the province’s Indigenous Affairs ministry.
Quebec Indigenous Affairs Minister Ian Lafrenière, Health Minister Christian Dubé and interim Lanaudière health authority director Caroline Barbir made the announcement along with Atikamekw chief Paul-Émile Ottawa during a virtual press conference.
