Councillors and others from Ignace, Ont., were in Finland this month and took an elevator hundreds of metres underground to tour the world's first long-term geological repository for spent nuclear fuel. Representatives from South Bruce in southwestern Ontario have also made the trip. Costs were all covered by the Nuclear Waste Management Organization, which will decide which of the two regions will store Canada's used nuclear fuel.
