NASA has done it again. They managed to launch, navigate and stick a perfect 10.0 landing of a probe to the planet Mars. I wonder if they ever get tired of winning.
The US has had a lot of success compared with the rest of the world reaching Mars, especially the old Soviet Union. The USSR’s first lander crashed onto the surface and was never heard from again (like those people they sent to the gulags all those years.) The next one landed successfully and managed to transmit data for a whopping 20 seconds before breaking down, which incidentally is about the average time a dissident lasted under KGB interrogation back then.
