Multiple geologists and Evansville-area officials preached a similar message in interviews with the Courier & Press. Not all of them namechecked the undead, but they all warned about a terrifying reality looming over the region.
One day, a massive earthquake, as large as 6.8 or 7 in magnitude, could strike in the Wabash Valley Seismic Zone. People could get hurt or die; thousands of buildings could suffer serious damage; and daily life as we know it could be upended for days or even weeks.
