Who was Joseph?  Here is what we know:  He was the 11
th son of Jacob and the first son of Rachel. Just as Rachel was Jacob’s favored wife, Joseph was Jacob’s favored son.  His early dreams of superiority angered his jealous brothers to the extent they tossed him in a pit and later sold him down to Egypt as a slave.  A combination of  good looks and sharp wit got him thrown in jail.  His reputation as a dream interpreter rescued him from imprisonment and elevated him to second-in-command over Egypt.  Pharaoh changed his name from Joseph to a more acceptable Egyptian name-
