The start of 2021 was a bleak time when it came to the coronavirus pandemic.
The slight relaxing of the rules for Christmas, coupled with the arrival of the new Kent strain of Covid-19, meant the country was once more in the grip of another wave of the pandemic.
That prompted a third national lockdown on January 4.
Hull was not as badly hit as other places at that stage, having suffered badly in October and November.
