He said that the hostel had around 80 workers housed in about 24 rooms.
“Each room was accommodating more than two or three workers, ” he said, adding that each room was supposed to house only one or two people.
"Aside from overcrowding, the hostel also has poor lighting. We were also informed that the hostel was built without the approval of the local government," he said when speaking to reporters at the premises following inspection on Monday (March 8).
Muhamad Fauzi also said that Health Department officers present at the inspection issued a fine to the company for breaking the Covid-19 standard operating procedure (SOP).
