The 150th Kentucky Derby is missing horse racing’s household name. Bob Baffert owns a record-tying six victories, but he won’t be saddling a horse in Saturday’s Run for the Roses for the third consecutive year. Last summer, Baffert had another year tacked on to his two-year suspension by Churchill Downs Inc., which was set to expire in 2023. The extra punishment came despite no positive drug or medication tests involving Baffert’s horses during that time. The owner of Baffert’s top contender, Muth, sued Churchill Downs to try to get the colt into this year’s race. But Amr Zedan’s bid was denied by the Kentucky courts. Muth is expected to run in the Preakness on May 18.
