A 63-year-old man âtelegraphedâ his intentions and followed up on them, burning down a house down and killing a sleeping 10-year-old girl and her mother because he believed the mother, who had been dating, stole his wallet, prosecutors said in court Thursday.
Reginald Brown, 63, charged with murder and aggravated arson, appeared before Cook County Judge Charles Beach, who denied bail for Brown during a hearing that was audio streamed live Thursday afternoon on YouTube.
Brown was identified as the person âwho intentionally started a fire at a residenceâ in the 8600 block of South Hermitage Avenue at 4 a.m. Feb. 28, and knew there were people inside the home and believed they were asleep when he set the fire, officials said.
