'They should be asleep by now' suspect muttered before arson that killed mother and daughter, prosecutors say | Crime and Courts

A 63-year-old man “telegraphed” his intentions and followed up on them, burning down a house down and killing a sleeping 10-year-old girl and her mother because he believed the mother, who had been dating, stole his wallet, prosecutors said in court Thursday.
Reginald Brown, 63, charged with murder and aggravated arson, appeared before Cook County Judge Charles Beach, who denied bail for Brown during a hearing that was audio streamed live Thursday afternoon on YouTube.
Brown was identified as the person “who intentionally started a fire at a residence” in the 8600 block of South Hermitage Avenue at 4 a.m. Feb. 28, and knew there were people inside the home and believed they were asleep when he set the fire, officials said.
