The Wayne County Health Department reported seven new lab-confirmed positive cases of the coronavirus Friday and Saturday, bringing the county's total to 1419. The cases covering Friday and Saturday include a female teen, a female in her 30s, three females in their 40s, a male in his 40s and a male in his 50s. 47 people who were lab-confirmed positive cases have passed away, four are hospitalized and 48 people are isolating. The health department also reports one Antigen Probable Reported Case, a male in his 60s, and 146 "probable" reported cases of COVID-19 in Wayne County. Of those, 12 are currently isolating along with being actively contact traced. The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 8345 new cases of the coronavirus around the state Saturday, and 65 additional deaths. State numbers are at 1,128,873 cases and 19,203 deaths in all 102 Illinois counties. The city of Albion began receiving new trash receptacles from Sunrise Sanitation Friday. The city agreed to receiving the new 96-gallon receptacles several months ago due to an increase in trash pickup along with the fact that Sunrise was to furnish the new receptacles. A letter accompanying the new receptacles says residents should start using them this Thursday, which is the regular scheduled pickup day. The letter also says that only trash inside the receptacle will be collected. Illinois State Representative Adam Neimerg of Dieterich says he is opposed to legislation passed in the last General Assembly just before he was sworn in as the new Representative for the 109th District. House Bill 3653 awaits Governor J.B. Pritzker's signature, and Representative Neimerg is urging the Governor to veto the bill as it is written and "bring all stakeholders together to craft real criminal justice reform and police accountability legislation that will truly make our communities safer." The bill, if signed, would bring several changes to police procedures in the state of Illinois. Area river stages this morning: Little Wabash River east of Fairfield is at 18.57 feet. Flood stage is 17 feet. At Clay City the stage is 16.8 feet. Flood stage is 18 feet, with a crest of 19.5 predicted by midweek. At Carmi the river is at 17.44 feet. Flood stage is 27 feet. The Skillet Fork at Wayne City is at 10.91 feet. Flood stage is 15 feet. The Wabash River at Mt. Carmel is at 6.38 feet. Flood stage is 19 feet. Rain is expected to end by tonight and could mix with snow, with another chance of precip by Thursday.
