EDWARDSVILLE — Madison County Democratic Party Chair Randy Harris on Sunday said Madison County Republicans should denounce President Donald Trump for his role in inciting violence at the Capitol last week.
“Republican leaders around the country have gone on record in opposition to what President Trump said and did to encourage Wednesday’s coup attempt at the United States Capitol,” said Harris. But local Republican leaders, who eagerly supported and voted for Donald Trump, have remained silent.”
Harris said this is not the time for silence but a time for local, state and federal elected officials “to go on the record” condemning Trump’s role in the incident.
