Hamilton bans organic compostable material from trash stream

On May 1, organic compostable material, will be banned from Hamilton’s trash stream, i.e. there can be no compostable waste in barrels or bags. Separate compost pickup will begin Feb. 1.
The decision was made by the Hamilton Board of Selectmen on Nov. 9, but official adoption of the policy, with penalties, was delayed on Jan 4. to give authorities time to get the word out and people a chance to get used to the idea.
