A McMechen man accused of fatally shaking his infant son in 2019 was indicted by a Marshall County grand jury this week.
Daniel Messner was indicted on one county of death of a child by a parent, guardian or custodian. Messner was originally charged in November 2019, accused of allegedly shaking his 3-month-old son, causing brain bleeds that investigators said eventually killed the child three days later.
Doctors at Wheeling Hospital, where the boy was originally taken, told police the child suffered from bleeding in the brain and they suspected skull fracture, according to investigators.
Also indicted in Marshall County was former Boggs Run VFD Chief Kevin Crown on one count of embezzlement and 27 counts of fraudulent use of an access device.
