Teen hurled and kicked lottery sign at shopkeeper in racist rampage
A TEENAGER who fractured a shopkeeper’s foot by throwing a lottery sign at him avoided jail today.
Chantelle McCourt, 18, turned on Mohammed Hafeez at Central News in Glasgow city centre’s Union Street in September 2019.
McCourt, then aged 17, repeatedly kicked the sign and hurled racist remarks towards Mr Hafeez.
The attacker then chucked the sign at the shopkeeper moments after he told her to pick it up.
McCourt, of the city's Garnethill, pled guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to the assault to Mr Hafeez’s severe injury.
She also admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner which was racially aggravated.
