ANCIENT woods near Bradford on Avon are to be improved for nature and people to enjoy in years to come.
Bradford on Avon Town Council has been awarded a £2,480 grant by Cotswold National Landscape under the Caring for Cotswold scheme.
It will enable the council and volunteers to make improvements to Becky Addy Wood overlooking the River Avon and the Kennet & Avon Canal near Avoncliff.
The council purchased the wood last year with help from the Friends of Becky Addy Wood group (FROBAW) as part of a community project to help protect it.
The wood is one of the few remaining ancient woodlands in the area and a refuge for many rare and protected species.
