so it is all of the above i'm not going to stand in the way of any parent who wants what ever it is for their child when it comes education especially. what you talked a lot about your own journey as an immigrant to this country but that of black americans as well some people expecting you to hold this mantle of your black, you are a conservative to be a spokesperson for that particular viewpoint you have said is in the gop needs to better job of reaching all people including different voting blocs and backgrounds and people who may not think they actually have a lot in common with conservatives. you said there people within the gop were not getting code of black voters worry think the gop is on that spectrum? >> what i really consider and they say to the gop you do not seed in the boat you must go after every votes. i did not know i was conservative until i heard a message. and then i realized wait a minute, what i believe and how i'm thinking about certain political parties do not ring true. that is why you are seeing now more black voters, latino voters, asia voters, immigrants they are considering the gop as a possibility. i am for lower taxes. i am for not just a certain type of education but education for all. i am not for quotas on for the right to work. i want to keep my money and it's much of it in my pocket that i worked for. there are certain things that are conservative in nature. we just don't know that we are that way. and by the way i'm not trying to get all black people to be republicans. i am just saying we need political parties to leave us alone and we will do what we want to do but we do not need political saviors. gillian: you talk to the gop feel vying for 2024 you say the really beating each other up you like to see less of that. you've also talked openly about president trump that you don't think it's good for the country for him to run again but it looks like at this moment unless something changes he is probably going to be the gop nominee what is that mean for the party and more broadly for the country if he is? >> i am considering again that i could not support president biden. as a marine the way he pulled us out of afghanistan so many marine blood was spilled there in addition to sailors and soldiers in inflation is killing us i was at the grocery store the other day last week in fact and bought a few things the sales clerk said $40 and i said $40? what did i buy? i could see she'd been through this before i paid the money and walked off just like any other person i am thinking inflation is killing us. and so we've tried to do things differently in virginia with a gas tax in the state portion getting rid of it so people have more money the billions that we have returned to taxpayers here in virginia we would like to do more with that. so i could not vote for president biden. at the same time you can't call people verdant you can say they're evil. you can say they are divisive and some of the things be cannt call them vermin. i am a christian first before i am anything else and i do not want to anyone. the apostle paul said when i was a child a spigot like a child they acted like a child but when i became a man i put away childish things. that is what i would like to see. equally i did not agree with hilary when she said certain of us were irredeemable. we are not irredeemable but we want is less trauma. but we want is for the country to heal because you see what's going on around us we need someone who can bring us together. shannon: a lot of folks are having a conversation about virginia as well. with one term here in virginia. you and he have both said when asked about your future let's get through these elections statewide elections in virginia are over. did score the big wins are public and so far so first of all the question is why do you think that's the case? and secondly what is your political future with those now behind you? >> i am always saying the way forward is forward. there is nothing back there. we can learn from its and move forward. so what we do know is we actually picked up a senate seat we are not even talking about that we were down and we have picked up one. and yes, the results are not what he wanted them to be but we are not looking any more wounds we are going forward. we have to have a hope. we have to give hope to our children. we know the democrats outspent us $110 million to 77 million that we raised. think about that. for state senate races and state delegate races that is amazing to me $110 million. soleimani helps because it helps bring the message out would have been a worse bloodbath it would have been a bloodbath. if the governor had not gone through this initiative he was calling secure your vote virginia because we were able to bring out absentee voters. they normally only votes in presidential races or gubernatorial races. 500,000 of them imagine losing 500,000 customers. you cannot do that and when you cannot do that and stay in business. those are the people we were trying to reach only got enough of them but not enough we know the democrats are three and four years ahead of us on absentee voting we are just going to have to keep plowing through, plowing through. shannon: will your name you have a good pitcher about next time? >> we do have session started in january and that is what i'm focused on. we have to get through certain ideas. we have to get through commonsense agenda. the bills are coming through and some are so far left it's just not going to be good. but we will work together, one virginvirginia get through it be campaigns are done it's time to govern. shannon: lieutenant governor thank you. >> thank you. a final word when we are back. okay everyone, our mission is to provide complete, balanced nutrition for strength and energy. yay - woo hoo! ensure, with 27 vitamins and minerals, nutrients for immune health. and ensure complete with 30 grams of protein.
