That approximately 656 this evening, a couple of shooting incidents occurred here with multiple casualties in the city of lewiston. A massive Search Effort underway at this hour for. The gunman in a Mass Shooting in lewiston, maine. At least 22 people are dead, dozens more wounded. Getting everybody. Im kevin corke In Washington and im marianne rafferty, live in los angeles. The situation still unfolding at this hour. Its very fluid, but police are confirming that robert khan is A Person Of Interest and he should be considered Armed And Dangerous. He is still large at this time. We go now to fox news Correspondent Molly who just arrived on the scene. Shes live from lewiston. Molly, what can you tell us at this hour . Good morning, marianne. We are just outside the central maine Medical Center. This is one of the facilities where some of the victims were brought earlier in the evening tonight. It is absolutely surrounded by Law Enforcement, many of them holding long guns at all. Every bad you can imagine. Weve seen a game warden, dodge, sheriffs, state police. Some those Law Enforcement officers are walking the medical personnel that work in this building out to their cars, escorting people into the building just keeping things going, keeping an eye on the entire surrounding area as you mentioned, weve just arrived here. We came up from just outside of the boston area, a significant Law Enforcement presence speaks to how wide the circle is as this hunt is on for robert card, 40 years old. As you mentioned, described as Armed And Dangerous. Theres some information from an internal Enforcement Bulletin that came out that here is a trained trained in in firearms as well as an army background. So thats all of a great concern. The community here remains locked down. Schools, not just here in lewiston, but some of the surrounding communities as well, including auburn and lisbon. Also, no School Tomorrow and Bates College as well. So this is extending out into all of those communities that thus far Law Enforcement can confirm were touched in some way as this investigation goes on here in lewiston. Of course, there the two Shooting Scenes, one at the bar grill pool hall, the other at a Bowling Alley. But there was also where the vehicle was found, which is lisburn, which is on the way potentially towards this of interest. Hometown boughton, which is about 16 miles away from here. Thats the immediate map where they can point to things and say these are areas of concern. But at this point in time, Law Enforcement have not given us insight into where they think robert card may be. We know that theyre speaking with Family Members that he has trying to gather information about about him. But its worth noting that as quiet as it is right now, in these overnight hours, well see what the morning looks like. Once the light comes, well get an idea of how seriously people going to take the lockdown that is in place. But right now it is very, very quiet overnight here in lewiston. Theres not a lot of people rolling, not a lot of vehicles. Like i said, weve seen the Maine State Police Evidence Response Team rolling by. Thats the sort of traffic which is very minimal that were seeing here in this community at this point in time. Marianne and molly, we you know, we heard that the shooting happened just before 7 p. M. Lewiston time. Have Police Released anything as far as maybe a timeline where where the shooter may have gone first, second, you know how this all played out. These Press Conferences have pretty brief and in the Press Conference that they had in the last hour just before he crossed into a new day. Really focused on this individual and his picture. Robert card showing his picture, explaining that hes A Person Of Interest. Theyve also urged people not to approach him to immediately call 911 if hes spotted. Remember, this person considered Armed And Dangerous in the information we have about him would lead you to believe that he has a decent amount of proficiency in weapons. Now, people in maine, there are a lot of people that are very familiar with weapons. Hunting is big up here. Theres a tremendous amount of open ground of nooks and crannies. So at this point in time, they havent given us a lot of insight into a timeline nor how long this event may have been in planning if it was planned for a very long time. Robert card may had as well a very long plan to escape in mind, which could potentially mean in an state as big as broad as rural as maine. Who knows if theres a plan for where he may be. Right now, he may have gone to where he expected to go. But at this point in time, very little Law Enforcement insight into where they believe he could be. But asking everyone to take precautions and its clear that theyre taking precautions here at the Medical Center where weve watched, like i said, the medical personnel being escorted in and out of the building this evening marianne. Yes and molly, just real quick, have you heard anything on when they might give us another fresh update with any new information . We havent gotten any information about another update at this time. Im just curious, given the number of crimes scenes, if you will, i mean, they could. Law enforcement can head over to bowden, try to figure out what, if anything, we can glean from where hes from. We also have the Bowling Alley, the restaurant, the pool hall, the vehicle itself. I mean, its a buckshot, but im imagining there must be a method to the madness. Walk me through that process. Yes, certainly. The crime scenes may may hold key information, particularly as in this vehicle. The crime scenes themselves, you know, may give an indication as to why he targeted them. That may be evident by some of those statements from witnesses or perhaps something that he may come across and going his background, but perhaps his vehicle may give some idea as to whatever else he had in mind in that, you know, traveling in that vehicle, whether it be papers, documents or other things that are left behind. You know, i think as we started speaking about before previously putting this person into focus is really going to key and for Law Enforcement move very quickly. They need to be looking at all of these scenes, how proper kind of control them, all this information. Theyre able to easily kind of send it out to to all the police who are working on this case, who are who are doing both the research and investigation and behind the scenes, as well as those people who are tactically out in the field. You know, one of the things, too, is that they would be looking at and this may take a little bit more time, particularly given the the time of day it is and need to get the proper released from from a judge perhaps is to go through his Banking Records to find out what else what else did he purchase. He bought things online. They buy camping equipment. They buy other things. You know, we certainly know that he has this weapon. What are the things he by that may give a further indication as to perhaps what he was planning after the shooting so that theres a lot of things that need to come together. Kevin. And i think its it is kind of critical that all these things happen simultaneously and be filtered back to people who can then pull it together from a command and control standpoint and, kind of filter that out to people who need to action it out in the field. Bill, you did a good job of helping me walk through the profile of robert card during our last conversation. Im curious, though, how does it change what Law Enforcement will do knowing that were dealing with Someone Molly pointed out with extensive military and extensive military background, someone who obviously knows Firearms Arms if its a regular person, if you want to use expression and theyre just out there and theyre theyre frustrated and decided to commit this heinous crime, thats one thing. But im just how does it change how the fbi and other Law Enforcement approach a circumstance when youre dealing with someone who is a skilled apparently, as robert card, you surely skilled and also with his most emotional or psychological issues, is that his level of rationality changes . You know, has he been on medication . Does that change perspective on things . Certainly its an area that the fbi is Behavioral Analysis team can help with because theyve studied and examined all of these shootings, everything from these major shootings weve seen from jose to the pulse nightclub and all the other shootings in between. And they try to put together kind of a catalog and a profile of what people and try to discern what their actions might be or try to predict in some way their behaviors, which will help Law Enforcement be able to kind of deal with him at the very end of this. Kevin and there are steps in between, but there are three busy, three outcomes that come from this. You know, either he surrenders, i want these confronted by Law Enforcement, you know, he perhaps might take his own life or he may decide to get into a firefight because of his training because of the weapons he has. What we just dont want is that he engages in a ladder where there are others, other innocent victims who are or who are bystanders or who he takes as additional hostages, some other circumstance and puts them in jeopardy. So its a very tricky one. Its one that really draws on really the depths and, the and the skills of various Law Enforcement agencies and what they can bring to bear in a very quick timeframe. This is happening real time as were speaking about is happening out there in the you know, in maine, in the Woodland Areas of maine and elsewhere. And trying to put this in perspective and try to figure out how they can get to him before he harms anyone else in the minute or so that. We have left bill for this particular conversation. I want to you about your experience in in situations like this. How often does a person commit suicide . Some want suicide by cop. Others decide to take their own lives. Is that a real strong possibility in a circumstance like this . Im just im it difficult to believe that given the number of Law Enforcement assets at work right now, that this has somehow managed to at least so far, go undetected. Is it possible that from your experience, these things end up with the the perpetrator killing themselves . Well, you know, kevin, i get really get mostly draw from what weve talked about over the years and had these different these these cases occur is that you can kind of see some some instances where they come upon by by surprise and be able to take down by police and other times and particularly someone i would probably say who is skilled and adept with with weapons and perhaps kind of maybe had envisioned himself kind of carrying this thing out in some going down in a blaze of glory. It could be what he is is planning on doing. So its very difficult to say. As i said, there so many variables here and to kind of get in and do a profile. And thats certainly my skill set, the Behavioral Analysis people skill set. But i can just tell you from from what ive seen over the years in looking at these cases, when someone like this who has the skills, who has the weapons, it really itd be very difficult to think that person is just going to give themselves unless, you know, theyre on medication and medication changes their perspective on things and they do that. But he knows what hes done and what has the ultimate plans were. Thats really what Law Enforcers are trying to discern, discern right now. Wheres The Next Step where they need to look, how they can keep everyone else safe up there, maine and elsewhere. Bill daley, strong analysis, as always. You, my friend. Yeah, and kevin, weve been talking about the suspect, robert card, all night and how he reported Mental Health issues. You know, hes got military experiences Armed And Dangerous, but hes also had these issues. And for more insight into that, lets go and turn to attorney and Fox News Contributor leo terrell. Leo, how would this, in your opinion, affect a case against him once he is caught and arrested and has to face charges . Well, i think thats going to be the advanced the information thats going to be discussed with his attorney. If hes arrested and if he goes before court. But, mary, ive been watching the coverage all. And, you know, weve gotten very little evidence from the state regarding this case. Ill tell you why. But, you know, theres the Police Involvement in this case. But there is the lawyers involved. I guarantee you, maryann, theres a judge sitting there signing Search Warrants, Search Warrants, Search Warrants, because we got very little information. Why . Because besides the attempt to collect to cap who this guy there is the legal aspect of collecting evidence from every that they have. And they have a lot of evidence and they have a judge assigned to the Search Warrant affidavit. I guarantee you the prosecutor ,any assistance from the u. S. Attorneys office there involved, and i guarantee you theyre Collecting Tons of evidence. We havent gotten anything from a Press Conference, but they are collecting evidence about this guy. And we have not heard anything. But i guarantee you the legal aspect of this case is as important as capturing this guy, because if this guy is brought to trial, he we got to make sure that the evidence was collected properly and the chain of custody was done properly to maryann and leo. If he if they have to jump through all of these legal hoops, well, thats going to slow everything down. And thats going to affect the manhunt right now. Well, see, you got the Law Enforcement, the the the profession. No Police Officer out there doing their job. And you have a bank of marianne duane, be the documentation that dotting the is and crossing the teeth and a judge, an overnight judge signed a Search Warrant because going into his bank records, as someone just said, going into his social media, you got to get a Search Warrant and its a two front ward. Marianne those officers are out there trying to find this guy and they bring him to justice. They depend on the prosecutor to have admitted bo evidence to go after this guy. And thats what we havent heard at all. But thats whats been done concurrently. Marianne, with the officers trying to capture this guy. So from what youre saying, then, the prosecutors right now are already trying to put together some sort of case right in the middle of this manhunt . Absolutely. Its a concurrent situation. People need to know that while the Police Officer that were doing what they have to to offer, the prosecutors are handling the legal aspect of this because, remember, hes going to be brought to justice. You talked about the Mental Health issues that if its going to be turned over to his attorney, but the prosecutors, marianne has a very key role to admissible evidence. And again, i cant stress enough there is a judge right now, barrie, and whos Drinking Coffee and signing Search Warrants, because every Everything Everything this guy has done, you got to get permission to go and acquire it. This is the other aspect of this case capturing this this this guy, this monster i want to call him. And then making sure that we can bring him to justice legally. Thats a very important aspect. Yeah. And kevin asked this question too. But in your opinion, do you think that this suspect will surrender in your experience in these in these horrible situations, this is he going to take his life, his own life, rather than surrender in these . Good question. Indeed. Horrible situation. Theres theres always a profile and then every case has their own unique facts. And in this case, im listening to the fact pattern where you have a person who is involved in the military firearm train. We dont know the motivation, maria. And thats the key aspect. Whats driving this guy . In every case, we have these Mass Shootings. The motivation is always unique to that particular suspect. So for me to venture a guess, be pure speculation, i dont want to do that. I want to give them the viewers all the information pertinent. And i tell you right now, be again, going back to the legal aspect, the prosecutor, the lawyers on this case may have a Greater Knowledge of this case than what we know at this current time. Yeah. And it always is interesting to me this process that we have to sort of walk through in particular when it comes to ted trying to search for a fugitive and not to draw too much from the film the fugitive, but listen, you got to check every out house and hen house and farmhouse from here to the Canadian Border to find this guy. Isnt that the strategy this hour . You you know, kevin, youre right. We have, through the years, done so many of these searches for fugitives or criminals. And one of the com threads is in unfortunately, in a case of this nature is that darkness is not the friend of Law Enforcement or what happens is, is that the person could be anywhere. This is sort of like a needle in a haystack. We know if he commandeered another vehicle. We dont know if he another vehicle at the location in which they found his all white doors, several blue automobile, all. So theres just so much that we dont know. And so Law Enforcement is certainly they are not only looking at video feeds in the area to see how that car got to its location, but theyre trying to determine how he left that location. And so quite naturally, again, its sort of like a needle in a haystack. Teddy, i want to bring you back to the boston bomber case. Those guys were holed up, i think, and not sure if it was a boat or something in the backyard of someones. Is this a real concern for Law Enforcement as this search continues and also sort of to dovetail on that concern, we could be getting a bit of a break here, my friend, in about 3 hours or three and a half hours with daybreak. You know, youre absolutely right. Lets take the debris freeze, as i said, or any debris during the daytime. Its highly likely that he could very well be sighted, as you said, about boston bombers or years ago. One of them was found in the backyard in the boat, in a boat or at a residence. And of the things that Law Enforcement put out when they had the presser was to tell individuals to shelter in place. Ball and certainly theyre doing that in two different jurisdictions. So again, with needle in a haystack, all they can do is put as much pressure on. And kevin, the one central thing that will happen is he meaning robert coy, he will make some kind of an error that will lead to Law Enforcement catching him. Let me ask you about his medical and i understand that this is a little bit of a delicate circumstance if this person has some sort of a mental challenge. Im just curious, from your perspective ted, is there any way to sort of say, knowing that this is a person who has struggled in the recent past . Does that impact how we approach this, that something you take into consideration as we continue to search for this person of interest . Yes, they do. To some degree, maybe Law Enforcement take into consideration his mental state of mind. But what they are deeply concerned about right now, kevin, is that this man is armed and very, very dangerous. So Law Enforcement officers are going to take any chances if they can. They want to capture him alive. But if they have to kill him to capture him, they will do so. You mentioned that theres a strategy here, ted, and part of it is figuring out where this person was. We know where he was last seen or at least we know at least potentially where his vehicle was last seen. And im imagining you sort of start a perimeter from there and you sort of work your way outward. Are you concerned about waterways or is this is a circumstance, ted, where you just saying, listen, lets shut off all the roads. Lets make sure that were spotlighting where we can . Im sure there are assets that we have up on the ground, up the air and on the ground to try to figure out if this guy is actually on the move or not. Im just curious because i am concerned about the fact that the Canadian Border is not terribly far away. Im concerned about the fact that there are waterways all around the great state of maine. And if hes got a boat, if hes got some sort of a vessel ,id be concerned about that. What say you . Yes. Law enforcement officers are not leaving any stones on. Everything that you say and the waterways, land, they are looking into that. If you remember, kevin, years ago, we had an escape at dannemora, new york, up two prisons, matt and sweat. Wow. Tried to make it to the Canadian Border. And was shot by a Law Enforcement officer just as he got close that border. So Law Enforcement officers are taken no chances whatsoever. They are used. Theyre in the air. They are close to any waterway ways. And quite naturally, they are looking on land. And i would have to believe that at some stage, another, if they have them or they would use bloodhounds. She joins us live from lewiston with the very latest. Molly. This is a scary situation. What can you tell us at this hour . Im imagining its at least eerily quiet. It is at this point in time in lewiston, right in this area outside of the hospital where some of the victims from the Mass Shooting that occurred earlier yesterday evening, at this point in time occurred, many of those victims brought here. And weve seen some some pretty Heart Wrenching scenes outside of this hospital. Some of the people, the medical workers coming out, heading to their cars and bracing before they get in their cars. Theres a huge Law Enforcement presence here as well. A lot of those medical workers being escorted to their vehicles, Law Enforcement officers, you know, with the long guns which are posted all around this building. Weve seen all manner, Law Enforcement, state police, police, game wardens. Its clear that this is an all everybody on call. Get here and spread out on the drive up. Significant Law Enforcement presence, lot of troopers all along the highways. Weve seen a lot of Movement Lights Vehicles from the way coming up through maine. As soon as you cross that bridge, you can see the Law Enforcement, just the presence here is really powerful. And while the community is very quiet, we can also see some of those Law Enforcement folks kind of distributed throughout the neighborhoods and are drive through town. So theyve tried to really kind of spread out almost in a grid all across the city of lewiston ,other active scenes that are absolutely worth mentioning particularly lisbon. Thats where the vehicle was found, where robert carr, the person of interest vehicle, was found. Huge Law Enforcement presence going on there. That is a very its a small, Small Community surrounded by a lot woodlands. And thats a common story here in maine. Theres a lot of woods, a lot of wet area. And we dont know how long Robert Carden may have allegedly been planning what occurred or, how deeply the plans may have included some sort of escape. This is a state with so many rural pockets and places to go and cabins and lakes and rivers. And its just a really difficult place to work, to search, particularly now that night has fallen. Very dangerous situation as well because of you mentioned throughout the evening some of the information we have from that internal Law Enforcement bulletin is that card experienced with weapons that he literally helps to train other people with that experience and that he has military as well. In the nearby community of auburn, theres a Reunification Center in the mayor there is talked about some of the interactions he has had with people that were at these scenes earlier this evening. The first the scene at the Bowling Alley as well as the scene at the pool hall and restaurant. And he described some of the people coming there to that Reunification Center hoping to find their loved ones as teenagers. He says ages have been affected by this. So the the true scope of who was at those locations when they when the mass Shooting Scenes unfold and will will, you know, become clear in the coming days. But at this point time, were just getting a small picture of the amount of lives and the interconnections and the amount of pain that this community will be facing. You know, this is a small city, some 35 plus thousand people, and theyre going to be waking up tomorrow still with that shelter in place, likely in place because theres a suspect or rather A Person Of Interest, as police very specifically called cards still at large and theyre continuing to hunt for him. But right now here on the ground, fairly quiet outside of the Medical Center right now, weve seen a few Flashing Lights going by. Still that very significant Law Enforcement presence. But well see what daylight brings. Kevin yeah, just a few hours between now and when the sun rises. Molly before i let you go, i just wanted to ask you something very quickly. Can you talk about how this is impacting the people of the state of maine as you mentioned, its a its, its a unique community, isnt it . Well, one of the things that will make this particularly shocking as it really settles in and into the heart of this beautiful big rural where people tend to have some familiarity with weapons, that this is one of the safest states in the nation. This is not a place where this kind of thing has occurred. And what is it, 2020 . This is not its lowest Violent Crime rate in the country. So this is exceedingly unusual. Its going to hit very, very hard in communities like this that are small and tight knit. And these communities are all linked to the community here where the shootings occurred, lisbon, where the car was found. Auburn, these are all neighboring communities where people will likely know each other. And when were talking about the number of fatalities, investigators are still saying, you know, they dont want to be too specific on those numbers yet because we know people are still being treated. So the full impact of this has yet to be felt. But every single one of those lives, it will affect will affect a family. And when you hear that there are teenagers showing up at the Reunification Center and in fact, some of the folks have children, not the children that were brought there to that scene were necessarily. Witnesses were at either of the shooting locations, but theyre looking someone a loved one that may have been out bowling that night or at a pool hall. So i think when daylight comes, its going to bring lot of heartache here in these communities. And for those families affected. Kevin and i know some schools are obviously going to be closed tomorrow as a parent, i cant imagine the intensity, the great concern i would have not just for my family, but also for the Community Writ large. But for now, over to maryann and kevin, certainly a community on edge and Law Enforcement will have a lot of ground to cover to try and zero in on where suspect robert card may be hiding. Lets go ahead and turn now to steve rogers, Retired Lieutenant Detective for the nutley, new jersey, police department. Hes also a former member of the Fbi Joint Terrorism Task force, as well as a retired u. S. Naval officer. What can you tell us, in your opinion, as far as what these Law Enforcement teams are probably trying to focus on right now . Well, ill tell you, theres no doubt in my mind that theyve set up grids and they have a perimeter in each area. And theyre going to report to the command post whether they found more evidence or not. But i got to tell you, whats going through my mind, something that hasnt been mentioned. I believe was reported. And i believe that i saw a scope on that weapon. If there is a scope on that weapon. We know this guy is well trained using these weapons. Im really concerned about those Law Enforcement officers. Im sure theyre aware of it. But theyre putting their lives on the line incredibly. So when daylight comes, im just worried about this guy really engaging the police. So theyve got to be real careful doing what theyre doing, what brave men and women are out there doing this job. Its just unspeakable. But they certainly dont want to get involved in a combat situation with him. Look, hes got a Mental Health problem. He may be fantasizing that hes in some sort of operation, military operation. So the police have a lot to consider with regard to this search. They have to be very, very, very careful. And, you know, mentioning the fact that theyre putting their lives in danger, i mean, they dont know what theyre dealing with then. And so in your experience, what do you think that theyre to protect themselves as they as they continue this this massive manhunt and search . Well, i remember years ago when i was in a police, were told, remember, the bad guy knows where you are. He knows who you are. You dont know where he is and you dont know what up to. So right now, i believe the air assets are going to be extremely important. The helicopters, the drones, i believe shortly youll see k9 units out there. So theyre going to use a lot technology to find him from a long distance. You will before they really they come in contact with him and. Im talking about visual contact because remember this, where the police have visual contact of him. He will have visual contact of them. And, you know, hes got hes got military training. And, you know, he who knows if maybe he can hold out for quite a while. Will they actually conduct something where they do go into maybe wooded areas where theres been a sighting or Something Like that . What what are they going to focus on when its daylight . I mean, oh, theyre going go everywhere. Believe me, theyre they have to do they have choice. They cant leave anything out. No stone will be left unturned as ben said quite often on tonights broadcast. But the fact of the matter is their job now is to protect the public and then theyre going to have to protect themselves. This is going to be very, very difficult. Believe me. Theyre welltrained officers. They know what theyre doing. I believe they have a great strategy. They have tactical teams out there. And again, getting back to the key message about getting evidence again, theyre talking to people. Theyre learning about this individuals, as you and i are speaking. And the more information they get, the more theyll be able to get closer to him and get into his mind and hopefully and i really mean this, hopefully theyll get him alive because once you get him alive. Youll have all those questions answered. Certainly. Indeed. And we know Law Enforcement, as you said, leaving no stone unturned. And theyll be working throughout the morning. Hes a retired nypd inspector and founder of upstairs talk. Paul, you know, weve been talking all night about what Law Enforcement is doing now. You know, its dark. Theyve got to be careful. They dont know exactly where the suspect might be. What do you think is going through the heads of these teams that are searching at this hour . Well, as your prior guest mentioned, steve rogers, you know, one of the things theyre going to have to be cognizant of is the fact that hes well armed. Hes apparently well trained, and he has that scope, his gun. And, you know, worst case scenario, its a night vision scope. So he may see them better than they see him because not all of the Law Enforcement officers are going to have that level of material. The other thing you can do, though, at night and as the search is going on in the field and youre being very meticulous about doing a grid search and making sure youre not missing anything in youre, you know, moving forward very carefully as you go backwards into his life. And, you know, youve got to get into his digital life. Hes 40 years old. That means hes got hes got a an iphone or a you know, the google phone. And hes going to be doing all of that stuff that everybody does using text, using email on apps and so on and so forth. If he has the phone on him, you can ping it and find them. They havent found them. So that tells me he knows enough to get of the phone, turn it off, take the battery out, whatever he did. So that put you down to his computer. And chances are he has a computer. They probably have gotten that. And thats one of the things you really got to look to exploit. If youre lucky, hes got a phone that synchronizes with the computer. If hes got an iphone and an Apple Computer or if hes got an android thats hooked to a pc. If hes got that setup and a lot of the times, the default is that set up. Unless you change it, you can get a lot of what is on his phone off the computer. And so theyre going to be looking at all these things to try to get a feel for his life. But you know, some of the stuff thats emerging here is starting to feel like there isnt going to be some big satisfy and answer here. You know, and, you know, i dont like to speculate too much, but we know about the Mental Health issues. We know, apparently that he made some threats. Now, did Law Enforcement respond to threats . Because that would argue that maybe they were in a position under, the yellow flag laws in maine, to do something about removing his guns. Thats not clear yet. But he reportedly, according to some of the reporting, is coming out now, may have lost his job recently. Hes got the Mental Health issues starting to feel like were not going to get great answers here other than somebody a slipping down life who went to two places that he know would be target rich lashed out in a way that is just horrific. But in his mind somehow or other made sense. And, you know, just weve been talking about this this yellow flag law that maine has for people that dont understand what it is. Can you explain that and how this might how it might have stopped this from happening . Yeah. So most of the flag laws, as you say in america, theres about 20 states that have them, their red flag laws. And what that means is that somebody, a Family Member generally who is close to somebody whos Mental Health issues, whos known to have the weapons, you can petition the court. And its a civil process. And what youre doing is youre overcoming a circle, essentially the Second Amendment to have those guns removed and have that person get Mental Health treatment. And its designed to protect against this sort of a thing. The nuance in maine is that only Law Enforcement can do that. That is, cops and prosecutors. Theyre the only ones who can that thats why its called a yellow flag instead of a red flag law. So its been used about 60 times. And it was actually considered to something of a model potentially for states that dont like any restrictions on firearms. But i think that obviously, this is going to renew the debate about how effect efficacious a yellow flag law is if in fact it missed this individual. Yeah. All paul morrow, thank you so much. If you are found in a situation of with in the presence of a mass shooter. And they taught run, hide, fight. If you have the ability to run from a mass shooter, then do that. But sometimes you cant do that. So its recommended you hide close the door, barricade the door, lock the door, silence your cell phone and stay away from windows. And then as a last resort, if you have to fight for your life using blunt objects to help protect yourself. So thats one of the main things. You know, usually im used to doing fire safety or needle stick injury safety. But now we have were having to learn about Mass Shooting safety, which i think is important. You know, weve had over 500 Mass Shootings this year in the united states, and most of it as a result of mental illness. But it is important that we do have care providers, emergency responders, First Responders and paramedics who are welltrained and the skill and the experience. And in this type of situation, because its a matter literally a matter of life, death, because its a it can be a very hostile and dangerous environment for paramedics who are the first ones out on the scenes. And this situation. They still havent caught the shooter and he could, you know, hiding behind a building, you know, and may attack any time and ambush the paramedics. So its important that you make sure, first of all, that youre in a safe situation and then to see, you know, what type of patients are in the vicinity ,who is bleeding, who is conscious, who is unconscious. And you know the First Responders obviously will stabilize them, bring them to the nearest Trauma Center where Triage Protocols are put into place, where e. R. Doctors and Triage Nurses look to see who is most injured, who is ill, who needs who requires immediate intervention, whether its surgical intervention or Blood Transfusion and that sort of thing. So, you know, the hospital in maine is doing a really good job of taking care of the community as we know it right now. And thank goodness they are. Its going to be a long few weeks.
