Dhs Secretary Mayorkas warns there is presently an acute and immediate need to construct physical barriers and roads in the vicinity of the border of the United States in order to prevent unlawful entries into the United States. And, in the meantime, there is nothing under the law that they have to use money for what it was appropriated. I cant stop that. Even with its latest offer, the auto maker is preparing for the possibility that the strike could keep going. Saying these layoffs are a consequence of the strike at Chicago Assembly plant because these two facilities must reduce production of parts that would normally be shipped to that plant. Lawyers for former President Donald Trump have asked a judge to dismiss the Washington Federal Election Subversion case against him. The attorneys argue the former president is immune from prosecution for actions they say were taken in his official role as president. Well, there continues to be speculation that Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin could be a new entry into the republican president ial race. A major test of the governors clout is coming up next month. Since the arrival in mass numbers of migrants into blue cities, especially in new york, democrats have become more and more concerned about it. You could see this as a way to placate those democrats who can now say its massively hypocritical but they can now Say Something is being done about it. He is using all sorts of methods to make sure that the millions who have crossed without a valid asylum claim are allowed to stay. If you look at the border statistics and comparison here just in september, jason, 260,000 plus migrant encounters. This is not gotaways but in comparison, st. Petersburg, florida 258,000 is the population, just to give you a sense of things. Byron is right. I think this is an attempt to give the democrats some cover. You have got mayors of Sanctuary Cities like new york and chicago going down South Of The Border to urge migrants not to come. That is how bad things have gotten. So, maybe democrats are finally realizing that its not only fox news viewers who care about Border Security in this country, at the same time, if the Biden Administration thinks building a few miles of wall is going to help him in the polling or placate the people who are complaining about Border Security, he thinks those people are fools. The problem is not that a wall isnt there to stop people. Its that Border Security has been told to stand down. We turn them into paper pushers. We have let people walk across the border illegally. And all Border Security does is try and process their asylum application. That is the problem. The Border Security cannot enforce the border. And building a wall isnt going to change that dynamic. Bret do you sense that there is a change because of these democratic mayors, governors, some of the democratic activists in some of these cities . You look at his approval, the fox news poll on Border Security job for the president , job performance, disapprove 61 . I mean, thats extremely high for any president. He cant seem to win on this issue. He cant satisfy the left. He cant satisfy the right. He did ask for an additional 4 billion for Border Security in that supplemental aid request. But you have to compare that to, for instance, a 24 billion that they are asking for for ukraine and you are Hearing Republicans say that they want to see more on Border Security and they want to see those paired together if there is going to be additional supplemental requests at this point. Bret okay. Lets talk about working with congress. Can we just change topics a little bit . The former president , do you think he is really considering getting in the mix of House Speaker . I mean, this vote is supposed to be on tuesday, the nomination, and then wednesday, do we really think that thats true . He always wants to be part of the show, doesnt he . He actually wants to be the star of the show, and thats how he could become this. It seems like a really, really, really bad idea. It would put republicans in a weird position because both parties actually have rules that leaders step down from their leadership positions if they are indicted. These rules dont have the force of the law. Cant have somebody come in and pull the speaker out of his chair, but those are the party rules. And, of course, if republicans were to take this seriously, they would have to waive that for President Trump which would lead to even more derision and division inside the house. Thats a problem for republicans if they want to hold on Majority Level and build on it. They need to show they are competent and that they have an agenda and they are grownups.
