Former city attorney joins Knox College as VP for administration

Brad Nolden, formerly city attorney and administrative services director for the City of Galesburg, joined the Knox community effective Tuesday, Sept 6, in a new role as vice president for administration and general counsel. "Upon meeting Brad and learning more about his areas of expertise, I saw a wonderful opportunity for Knox to hire a leader who can provide strong, focused leadership for several administrative functions, including legal affairs, human resources, campus safety, facilities planning and management, sustainability, community and government relations, and auxiliary services," said President C. Andrew McGadney. "Brad's many years of experience in the Galesburg community will drive even stronger ties with the city, local businesses, and civic organizations, an opportunity that many members of our community identified for the College." A native of Illinois, Nolden earned his B.B.A. in finance from the Tippie College of Business at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa. He is also a graduate of the University of Missouri School of Law. In his role as city attorney and administrative services director for the City of Galesburg, he was the primary legal adviser to the City Council and Administration. Nolden also oversaw special projects, human resources, risk, and insurance matters for the City. Prior to his appointment as administrative services director, he established the first in-house legal department for the City of Galesburg. He began his career at a small law firm representing both private and governmental clients in a variety of practice areas. Nolden is an active member of the Galesburg community. He serves as the secretary for both the Galesburg Area Chamber of Commerce and the Front Nine Foundation, is a board member for the Galesburg Area Crime Stoppers, and is a member of the Galesburg Noon Lions Club. He has also presented or moderated panels for many organizations, including Carl Sandburg College, the Illinois Municipal League, and the Galesburg Area Chamber of Commerce.
