Forge Institute of Little Rock, in partnership with the Arkansas Department of Education Office of Computer Science, is developing computer networking training for high school teachers.
The organizations expect to launch the new training program in July. It will feature hands-on labs and other materials that teachers can bring back to their classrooms.
"Computer networking is a fundamental part of our lives," Scott Anderson, executive director at Forge Institute, said in a news release. "Today's world runs on computers and smart devices; your TV, your car, your watch and now your coffeemaker are all connected."
Anthony Owen, state director of computer science education at ADE, said that creating a skilled student starts with teachers who are properly trained.
