Two men who suffered leg injuries due to an explosion while atop a 30-metre-tall water tank were rescued by firefighters at the Kg Lawa Gadong water treatment facility, here, last Thursday.
District Fire and Rescue Station Chief Mohammad Hasbulla Nenggok on Sunday said the pair were taken down from the tank using a lowering line at about 10.04am.
He said the men’s fractured legs prevented them from using the tank’s existing ladder to descend, and that firemen were brought in to assist in helping them down.
“As firefighters, our only responsibility is to rescue the victims, we do not know how the explosion happened,” he said.
In a separate case, firefighters were called in on Wednesday to help capture a python that had slithered into a resident’s home in Kg Klias Kecil at around 8.51am.
In another case, the man who went missing on Monday while repairing pipes is believed to have drowned. The decomposing body was found in Sungai Batu 58.
A search and rescue, resulted in villagers discovering the body before alerting the Fire and Rescue Department who then went to the scene to retrieve the body.
The family has identified the victim, and the body has been handed to the police for post mortem
