Fired Pa. prison guard found guilty of harassment for slapping inmate

District Judge John Gembic Thursday fined Scott Schleig, 21, of Shamokin, $100 plus costs.
The judge had deferred his decision after hearing testimony on April 29 that included chief county Detective Degg Stark relating Schleig admitted during an interview he intentionally slapped the inmate in the face.
Testimony by two inmates, including the victim, that the assault was unprovoked was collaborated by a video that showed Schleig smiling and laughing with another officer and they walked away from the cell after closing the door.
The victim testified the slap was painful and his face was red for several hours.
