Starting Tuesday morning, more restrictions on fires and travel will be put in place in parts of the province.
At 8 a.m., Area 4 which includes much of the area north of the Wanipigow River, east of Lake Winnipeg to the Ontario border, including Atikaki Provincial Park, and north to Poplar River, will see changes. This area is seeing a full travel ban, including to cottages. The province says permanent residents must be ready to leave on an hour’s notice.
Areas 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7 and 8 continue to be under Level 3 restrictions, meaning the areas are not able to have campfires, camping is restricted to developed campgrounds and back-country travel is prohibited. All provincial burning permits are cancelled, and industry and outfitters may be restricted in their operations. Cottage access is restricted to designated roads with travel permits for remote cottages.
