Government has put its plan to declare Nadi Fiji's third city on hold.
Minister for Local Government Premila Kumar said some residents of Nadi Town are not ready for the declaration and the decision to put it on hold was made after consulations with the community and business houses as there were mixed feelings.
“They clearly expressed perhaps this is not the right time to declaring Nadi as a city because there is a lot more work that needs to be done.”
“Declaring a city also means we will be having more ratepayers and people want services. So we want to plan that further and my job was to listen to the public.”
