Despite all of that, only a thousand people are killed by the police every year, and thats been the same average for the last four or five years. Almost all of them have been resisting with a weapon or resisting violently. When youre looking at unarmed white cops killing unarmed black, youre talking less than 4 of the total. Michael brown was unarmed, but his dna was found on the cops gun. Its very, very, very rare for the police to kill anybody, let alone an unarmed black person who is not reasonably perceived as a threat. Out of all the homicides in this country, unfortunately, half of the victims are blacks, and almost all of them are killed by other black people. It is a fact that a young white man, number one cause of death for a young white man, preventable, is accidents like car accidents. The number one cause of death whether preventable or not for a young black man is homicide. 810 times more likely to be a homicide victim than a young white man, thats why the cops are there. Rapper tupac shakur once said we need the police more than anybody else because of the criminal element that is there. So knock it off. The facts do not support the whole premise behind the narrative, and its getting people killed. Young black men being undock try nateed with the idea that theyre going to be hurt when theyre stopped by a police officer, so they are unnecessarily onguard and, therefore, not complying. So you are ruining the relationship by this phony narrative, its getting people killed, and i keep waiting for kareem abduljabbar, charles barkley, somebody to stand up with some kind of stature and say, wait a second, lets take a look at the facts before we react. I havent seen that yet. Of all that we know could be invested by the justice investigated by the Justice Department, to decide on roger stones sentencing recommendation, dropping it from 9 to 7 years which is still almost double the typical sentence of anyone found guilty of lying to congress, its an absurd, absurd internal matter that, to me, speaks to the corruption still within the department of justice. Your thoughts. Look, lou, we have a real problem in washington, d. C. With the washington, d. C. Types who control the arms of government and their weaponizing and theyre weaponizing the tools of government against their people that they dont like. The opposition. Their enemies. Their political opponents. And this is really, i think, a crisis in washington. We need to be able to clean it up. I know that President Trump feels very strongly as the outsider that coming in there is a whole bunch of insider rules and regulations and views, and its incredibly difficult to take on the entire system because the system is not only the bureaucrats, but its, its, you know, politicians, its reporters. The Inspector Generals, i think, are supposed to be above it all. Theyre supposed to be the individuals who can look at the Bigger Picture and try to figure out when there are problems and then deep dive into the specifics. What we have is a whole group of Inspector Generals who really have been playing politics. And you can go through every Single Agency in washington, and its these Inspector Generals in the entire system that is weaponizing the tools of government. Its a bug problem, and i a big problem, and i have to say that when you leave washington, d. C. And you talk to normal people outside of washington, d. C. , theyre beginning to dismiss the whole thing. Theyre beginning to dismiss everything in washington. Thats a very dangerous spot that were in. Theres a whole group of people in washington who keep pretending like they matter, and theyve lost the American People. Lou well, theyve lost the American People, but certainly the Political Parties are looking awfully badly, both parties, in all of this. And the reality seems to be that the Justice Department is now an organization unto itself. Its where truth goes to die. Documents are not produced. I mean, look what happened. The Senate Intelligence committee, senators rubio and warner rejecting senators johnson and grassily ares request grassleys request for documents to assist chairman johnsons investigation. Not i mean, were watching a Division Within the parties that is aimed at, in this case, theres only one explanation. They want to assist the radical dems who have conspired against President Trump to overthrow a sitting president. I cant reach any other conclusion logically, can you . Yeah, here let me say a couple of things. One, senator johnson has been, one, very few, who has focused the senate on trying to figure out the truth. He is, he is looking for transparency. Where this all began and uncover it all and declassify it and give this information to the American People. Transparency is not political. If, indeed, we find out that the Justice Department, the fbi, all of these investigative agencies and committees produced nothing going into this election are, would you recommend ill put it a different way. Do you believe the president should declassify every damn document and put it in front of the american, put them in front of the American People . Look, it was my job as acting director of intelligence to really question the system and question the bureaucrats who wanted to classify documents. We overclassify. We now have a system in lou right. Washington that classifies to product the Public Relations aspect of these agencies. What i tried to do is look at every document and to say is there a source in here that needs to be protected, or is there a method that points to how we got this information. The source and the method are the only reason whew you should protect something. Why you should protect something. And by the way, you can then just redact that source or that line that talks about how were getting something. Lou right. Ambassador, it is great to have you with us, and these are perilous times, and your efforts and those of others in the administration the come to some sort of an agreement, a lumbarration of particularly limitation of particularly Nuclear Weapons and Delivery Systems among the United States, china and russia are critically important. I want to begin by asking you how confident you are right now of what can be achieved. Well, its great to be with you, lou, and thanks for giving me a chance to talk with you about the vision that President Trump has laid out for the future of Nuclear Arms Control. You know, one of the key points that i took from your conversation just now with ric grenell is the importance of transparency, and we need to be clear that the same kind of secretive behavior that the Chinese Communist party adopted when it came to the coronavirus is the kind of stonewalling theyre applying to their nuclear buildup. Thats why the president has called them out, hes made clear that they are surging and that the next Nuclear Arms Control treaty must include and must limit china. Lou well, and, ambassador, i want the audience to know that you have declassified video for us to show what was happening in the arms parade in beijing. And if we could, lets go to, first, an image from 2009. This, this shows well, im going to ask you, what does, what do you take from this and the size of the parade . Yeah. Well, so, lou, the image that youre showing your viewers there is actually from a classified briefing that i gave to the north atlantic council, to nato, a few weeks ago. And with felt it was important, again, on this theme of transparency, that the American People and, frankly, the International Community know whats going on. So on top there you can see in the parade, the chinese have one big parade every ten years or so where they show off their Nuclear Weapons. In 2009 you can see that the length of that parade stretched about half a kilometer. Ten years later that parade stretched ten times as long. So thats what theyve done just in the space of ten years. Can you imagine what its going to be like ten years from now when they continue billing all of these different ranges and types of these nuclearcapable missiles . Its very, very concerning, and the American People need to know that the president is looking out for them and hes going protect us through a varian few of mechanisms, both improving our nuclear deterrent, bringing on line new capabilities that no other nation has, but also in driving arms control to try to limit and avoid an unnecessary and costly threeway nuclear a arms race. Lou well, id like, ambassador, for you to come back and spend some more time with us. We are, actually, constrained by time tonight. But i want to get a sense from you, again, as to your hopes, your optimism about doing something with either russia bilaterally or even if thats in the cards or with china bilaterally. So thats a great question. The bottom line is the ball is now in russias court. The president has had the necessary conversations with president putin, and we view that they have, they have sketched out the withdraw ahead. The way ahead. And that weve made e a good offer to the russian federation, and we hope theyll take us up on it. What we want to do here is three things. We want to make sure that the next agreement we negotiate and well start with the russians first, and well include the chinese in due course, but its got to cover all Nuclear Weapons. We cant have the russians building all of these tactical Nuclear Weapons outside of any treaty focused on nato and, of course, chinas not involved in any of these arms control agreements. Thats thing number two. The architecture has to include china. And number three, weve got to fix the dangerous deficiencies contained in the new star treaty in terms of verification and transparency measures. Were hopeful that moscow will take us up on it.
