This at a time when the Labor Department reports 135,000 jobs in american hospitals alone were lost last month. The bill also provides a way for prisoners to be released should they have asthma, diabetes or be over the age of 50. Unless there is clear evidence, imagine this, unless there is clear evidence that they will harm another person. Thats quite a high bar, isnt it . The bill even giving a Million Dollars for the study of disinformation related to the wuhan virus, presumably e to study china. The white house has already issued a veto threat against the bill. Senator Mitch Mcconnell had this to say on fox news. It strikes me as hardly salvageable. Just to give you an example of some of the absurdity, theres money in there for illegal immigrants, it mentions the word cannabis, of all things, 68 times, more than the word jobs or hire are mentioned in the entire bill. Its the parade of absurdities, it can hardly be taken seriously. Lou as Congressional Dems try to push theired radical ideas through congress, President Trump once again taking steps to actively fight the wuhan virus contagion. President trump today in the rose garden announced operation warp speed through which the president hopes to create a vaccine by the end of this year, tapping former pharmaceutical executive and fourstar army general to head up the monumental effort. Operation warp speed. That means big and it means fast. A massive scientific, industrial and logistical endeavor unlike anything our country has seen since the manhattan project. Its objective is to manufacture and distribute a proven Coronavirus Vaccine as fast as possible. Again, wed lo to see love to see if we could do it prior to the end of the year. Lou the president s announcement follows six new guideline decision trees from the cdc, just six of them let companies and schoolings know when theyre safely ready to reopen. Vaccine or no vaccine, were back, and were starting the process. But we want to see our schools back, we want to see our country start to work again. The president is doing everything that one could imagine a president could do. There is stimulus, there are aggressive efforts to reopen this economy and to do so safely. At this juncture we have an estimated 36. 5 Million People have been laid off over the past several months. Is it your judgment that we have seen joblessness at this rate, the rate peak . You know, one of the things were seeing, lou, is that businesses are gradually opening. Weve got some realtime trackers that suggest that over the last month the percentage of businesses that are open has gone up in the double digits. So we are seeing an economy thats opening. But i would expect that especially the pockets of weakness will be weak for a little bit longer, and then were going to see more big initial claims for Unemployment Insurance numbers and probably an Unemployment Rate a month if now thats maybe a little bit north of 20 . But i think that, you know, thats the Second Quarter. We know the Second Quarter is bad because we had to shut down to save millions of lives, and i think that were just about trajecting up now, and by the Third Quarter we expect that to happen shortly, the Fourth Quarter and into next year. I think we have every reason to agree that were going to have a very, very sharp recovery. Lou im just curious about how the white house feels, the president feels about having idiots in congress doing things about expediting, pelosi wanting to expedite Foreign Workers into this country in the medical field when, as i just reported, weve had 130,000 lose their jobs in hospitals alone in the midst of this damn pandemic. What kind of idiocy is at a large in the swamp on capitol hill . Its getting this is becoming obscene. It is very frustrating, lou. Im sure that youre right about that. But the one thing that i want to say behind the scenes and think you mentioned it in your story or your lines at the top is that this i think its more about leadership than necessarily rank and file, because weve had a lot of very productive phone calls with, you know, bipartisan phone calls with members, democrats and republicans, both the house and the senate over the last few weeks to think about what next policy steps we need to take in order to make sure that theres a strong jobs recoar for american recovery for americans. There are definitely democrats out there that want to work with the president to help make the economy strong again. Its just that they appear not to be in leadership, nor to even influence the decisions of leadership. And i think thats why lou they dont have much, they not only lack a voice, though, these democrats that you find palatable. They dont have particular courage that is to stand up. We saw 14 of them today in a procedural vote, but this is, as i said, this has become an obscenity, what the Democratic Party particularly under pelosi and schumer are doing on capitol hill. There are pockets of intelligence, rationality and policy prescriptions out there among some of the states. But damn few. Lets turn to part of this 3 trillion travesty. First of all, the number is an arrogant and disgusting, appalling approach to move through the house on the part of moses. But a third pelosi. But a third of it to go to states irrespective of their fiduciary responsibilities, their financial and economic stewardship, irrespective of their deficits, the calamity that is leadership in some of these major states, and one doesnt have to wait too long to mention illinois, to mention new york state and others. This is, you know, we need to hear what the president s going to say about this and what the take is going to be the because again, this is calamitous. What she is prescribing. Well, lou, i share your strong feel its about this. And the thing i can say is that if we, again, hook at the Congressional Budget Office forecast, theyre projecting a decline in gdp for the year, and if you just take their numbers and think about, well, how much is state and local revenue going to go down, then it seems right now looking at the numbers that weve given them already in the first phases of the stimulus more money than the shortfall one would expect to see for the states. Now there definitely, as you said, some states that are going to have more trouble than others, but on average i think weve given them more money than the shortfall thatll happen. They really are trying to pick, to bail out states that have been having problems for years and years and years, and theyre using this covid emergency as an excuse, basically, for partisan politics. Lou are you saying the president wont permit it come hell or high water . Im saying that the president has the number one priority of creating jobs for americans and that hes watching the data closely and that if there are more moves that we have to make, then were going to try to do that, and were going to need democratic votes to do that. So i think that, you know, we stand ready to negotiate moving forward, but its going to be datadriven, not politicsdriven. Lou you know, much like the deep state itself and the permanent bureaucracy, these are the kinds of come to to his and appeasement compromise and appeasement of principle in particularly what you all know is not a loyal opposition, but a party of hate that is trying to overthrow and continues to try to overthrow this president. This business as usual nonsense, i believe the American People haved had it. And i would hope the president has had it, and i would hope those near him counseling him right. Lou would understand that this is a special time for courage, for intellect and originality of thought rather than going along like baying hounds with the most radical part of the Democratic Party. But deal with it, we must. Your thoughts about how quickly or how slowly, depending on your perspective, how long will it take us to get to something approaching i would say the return of vitality in what was an amazing age of prosperity stewarded by President Trump . Right. Well, i think that its going to happen a lot faster than some people think. You can hear the president s taking off in a helicopter right now. But its going to happen a lot faster than people think because we came in in january with the strongest economy ever, so we took the biggest hit ever. But were going to come back because of our fastmoving policies i think much faster than people think. And, again, thats consistent with what the Congressional Budget Office is saying. Theyre looking at a very strong second half of the year and stronger next year, and i think thats very much count with the economic situation. Lou i talked to treasury secretary mnuchin here last night, kevin, and one of the things that is standing in front of us is moving money to the people who have, the working men and women of this country and their families. Of were hearing reports from, yes, admittedly much of it fake news organizations, but were hearing too many reports that hundreds of thousands of people are not getting the assistance for whatever reason that they desperately need. Is that going to be the priority of the administration and whatever legislation comes forward out of the house . Right. Well, you know, the president was add adamant that adamant that we get cash to americans to help them make it through to build a bridge to the other side and, you know, we mailed out over 180 million checks to ordinary americans all across the country to help finance them. Now what we have to do is we have to watch the economy as it turns oven and see if the bridge on and see if the bridge to the other side is complete. The early numbers that were looking at in realtime are really, for me, surprising how quickly theyre moving. Businesses are opening up, people are getting back to work, and theyre doing so in a safe manner because of the steady guy dance of the health care professionals. So where i look at the states that are opening up the most, we arent seeing increases right now in covid cases that are remarkable. So i think that whats happening is we can lou what i asked about [inaudible conversations] moving that money into the hands of working men and women and their families and making certain that youre flooding the zone, if you will. Emmet sullivan, Federal District court judge, directing flynns former law firm, covington and burlington the law firm that flynn fired, by the way to appear as an Interested Party in the proceeding. Covington complied in a new court filing, and flynns defense attorney, sidney paul who re Sidney Powell who replaced the fired covington attorneys, accused that firm of providing ineffective assistance to flynn. They were lousy e attorneys. Joining us tonight, attorney robert ray, a member of President Trumps impeachment defense team, former independent counsel for the whitewater investigation. It is great to see you. Lets start with bringing back the fired law firm . Is there anything more idiotic that this judge could possibly do to embarrass himself and all he represents; that is, the [laughter] the law fare geniuses that are at play in the legal system . Great to be with you again, lou. I have to tell you, this one is baffling to me. I dont know what interests that firm would have. General flynn fired his prior attorneys. They should be out of this matter. And as a result of that firing, he accused that prior law firm of providing him with ineffective assistance of counsel under the sixth amendment, as a result in part of a conflict of interest. So i dont know what interest they would have before this proceeding, a proceeding now where the government has said that it is not going to prosecute this case. So i have to tell you, its not going to be too much longer that this baffling exercise continues before Sidney Powell im sorry, general flynns current attorney, may well go directly to the court of appeals for a writ of man day misor prohibition. Mandamus. Im all in favor of having a full and complete record, but general flynn is entitled to move on with his life. Enough is enough already. Lou well, this judge has played the fool for the prosecutors throughout. This is a sham case. It was clearly a frameup. We have known that for months and months. Sidney powells has made it clear. Covington, and the conflict of interest i believe youre referring to, is the fact that the obama attorney general, eric holder, is a member to of that firm, is he not . Well, thats one of the issues. But i think even more significantly, you know, they were providing advice to general flynn before all this started with regard to matters involving whether or not he needed to register under the foreign agents registration act. And one of the threatening aspects of the prosecution is that if general flynn didnt comply and plead guilty as the prosecutors wanted, they were threatening to prosecute his son and general flynn for a violation of that act which presented an issue of a conflict if which covington and burling then attempted to get general flynn to waive, and he did. It raises a substantial question about whether or not thats even a waiveable conflict of interest. I guess my point is theres all kinds of trouble here, and that was all sidestepped by having capable counsel come in and fix this mess, which would be studyny powell. I dont understand what covingtons interest at this point in this litigation would be. Lou what the hell is the judges interest . What is he trying to prove . I mean, its imbecilic. The fact of the matter is he is violating the very law that came down with the ruling from the Supreme Court the previous week. That makes no sense at all. Absolutely right. And the problem here is that hes overstepping his bounds because he doesnt have authority to make the government prosecute a case which it has come to the conclusion in the interest of justice it should not have ever prosecuted. And once that decision has been made by the executive branch, thats final. He doesnt have a say in compelling the government to do what he thinks are the interests of justice. Thats stepping out of his judicial role, and its a violation of separation of powers. And if it goes on too much longer, my prediction to you, lou, is that a Sidney Powell will be filing papers in the court of appeals to put an end to this. Lou well, i would think that there would be enough, i would hope against all hope, that there would be enough integrity in the federal judiciary whether it be at the public level, maybe the Supreme Court, maybe not at all to say somebody pick up the phone and tell this judge hes out of his mind. And that what he is doing in front of the entire American Public is making a mockery out of, well, the same Justice System that the department of justice and the fbi have made of investigation and prosecution over the obama era with, under eric holder, Loretta Lynch and the james comey era to perhaps even the Christopher Wray era in the fbi. This is sickening, it is stupid, and i dont know if, frankly, the judiciary or the Justice Department and fbi can ever recover from it. What do you think . Well, its a reminder of how much power district judges really do have, and americans should be paying attention here. I mean, i think public sentiment here should swing hugely in favor of general flynn and say enough is enough already. And if the shoe were on the other foot and this had been a democratic administration, no judge would be able to get away with, you know, this nonsense. Look, its going to go on for a little while longer, but in the meantime, you know, what were finding out is what we suspected all along, and that is this is the shadow government and deep state at work, and were starting to figure that out as we unmask who was trying to figure out general flynns identity and what they were up to in the january period of 2017 leading up to the new administration. And lets start with california, pastor. 3,000 churches say theyre opening no matter what the state government, the governor says or anyone else. What do you think . Well, good for them, lou. I mean, look, the bibles very clear. We as christians are to obey the governing authorities. Paul said in romans 13 to resist government is to resist god. But theres one major exception the bible says s and that is when mans laws conflict with gods laws, then we obey god rather than man. And, you know, here in dallas, lou, weve been under a lockdown. Our church voluntarily went along with that because the malls were shut down, the movies were shut down. But youve got these crazy estates and cities throughout our country that allow the Liquor Stores to be open, the Marijuana Stores to be open saying that they are essential services, and yet they shut down churches. That is wrong, and i think these california churches are doing the right thing in defying that order if they have to. Lou well, good for you. You know, i just cant imagine why a church couldnt at the same time be as diligent in their care and concern for the health of everyone in the congregation, do the same social instancing, do whatever is necessary social distancing, do whatever is necessary rationally to make certain that everyones health is preserved. Well, thats right. And as we plan to reopen here at First Baptist thats, we are going to extreme measures to try to make it a safe environment for people. Fortunately, we have a great governor, or greg abbott, who wants to see that happen. And we have a president of the United States who is encouraging that to happen in a safe way. Lou well, i dont want you to blush when i say this, but youve got a high class problem in your church. You have got such a large congregation [laughter] so many people to fill up those pews yes. Lou it sounds like its going to be an allday, 24hour process for you to welcome the congregation in its entirety, maybe a couple of days into the church. Youre going to be, youre going to be a tired pastor. [laughter] well, im happy to do it, lou. Im just anxious to get back, and we are going to get back. We wont open at full capacity. That would be an unwise thing to do. But, you know, the white house has given us some great guidelines to follow. Not trying to force churches, but guidelines to follow in helping us do that in a very safe way. And christians i know everywhere are anxious to get back to worship, and its going to be a great day soon when that happens. Lou and it is a strange, telling moment of the times, as you said. I mean, tattoo parlors and Liquor Stores are opening [laughter] and bars, and you cant get into church. These are truly extraordinary times in which we live.
