29,297 the close on the dow. Economists are blaming big slowdown on trade pressure and tariffs, what do you say, john . There you go, this is as expected, china was much more vulnerable to imposition of trade war and u. S. Economy, china has a very strong incentive as ambitious as it might be. Dagen one thing i will point out that we have a record in the stock market here in the United States, in the meantime the democrats are trying to remove President Trump from office, we will get to that in a second but there are good numbers coming out of china, the index jump today highest level since 2015, this is probably a better leading indicater than Economic Growth, the wall street journal writes also about this, the price of copper is up more than 7 in the past 2 months, again, industrial metal used around the globe, another bellwether for Global Health and surveys of purchasing managers in the euro zone have shown continued weakness, new export orders have been going up, the market is telling you something about a Global Economy rebound. Maria shipping is incredible by important indicater and so is copper, i totally agree. Thats reduction in trade risk, thats what youre seeing. Maria exactly. The market is moving and we are seeing shipping across the world, indicater of whats happening across the world. Yeah, i think another interesting indicater, you have been reporting on Bank Earnings and you see on jpmorgan results and citigroup and others, the Business Customer getting more optimistic, doing more investment tale deal making and if we are hoping for return to capital expenditures, businesses making investments in new plan and equipment, i think the table is set for that now with the deal concluded. Maria i like to look at message of the market. Anything can happen in the next couple of weeks in the senate trial but, of course, we will see about that go ahead, john. This is similar to clintons impeachment where the equity market took off and went through the roof. Maria yeah. Dagen clinton wasnt up for reelection. You cannot emphasize this enough, income inequality is shrinking in the country, you have seen reversal where ranking file workers are seeing greatest gain, this is reversal of what happened under president obama, astonishing, steve forbes talked about this yesterday, theres been a skyrocketing number of latino businesses being formed, you have Income Growth in every metropolitan area in the country, we havent had that since early 90s. Maria chief Justice John Roberts swearing members of the senate marking beginning of impeachment trial of President Trump. I attend the senate in conformity with your notice for the purpose of joining with you for the trial of the president of the United States. Do you solemnly swear that in all thing appertaining to the trail of the impeachment of donald, john trump, president of the United States, now pending you will do impartial justice according to constitution and laws so help you god . Maria the Government Accountability office determined that the Trump Administration violated the law when it withheld aid to ukraine and the white house slammed those findings. Dagen james, the hang ringing, said it was illegal. The funds eventually released. This is literally something that the left was hanging all of their shapoes on. Yeah, ive heard those reports this morning calling gao independent, it is not independent, group that work for the congress, works for legislators, in this case democratic Chris Van Holland in the senate asked them to opine, essentially asked them to agree with him. Ive also heard that this is a nonpartisan organization, just for the record, the employees union at gao is ifpte in 2016 election cycle they gave 100 of their donations, this is their pac to democrats. [laughter] maria 100 . Theres also the point that this is not a ruling from a court, this is an opinion from some staff who worked for members of congress and i think as the white house has pointed out, its pretty hard to make the case theres a legal violation when the deadline was september 30th and the funds got released september 12th. Dagen let me point something out, if this new information, credible witness, question mark, whether its this Government Accountability office report, this goes to the issue of nancy pelosi and co rushed the impeachment process. So if you rather than waiting and continuing to investigate, subpoena john brake lighton, push it through the impeachment process. Now the senators in house brief are due tomorrow, potus briefed by monday, commences on tuesday, where we are now is the senate is in control, the Senate Control by the republicans and they can do what they want and theres a big move to just look at testified thats presented to them to have fake articles of impeachment and the second standing up to power of his office, thats whats happening, its proof to American People that its purely political and the democrats rushed it. Maria i think americans see through it and thats why we see the markets performing, people understand that this is a lot of politics, a new member of the trillion dollar club; little larger, Google Parent Company alphabet becoming the Fourth Company to surpass 1 trillion in market value, joining apple, amazon, microsoft. Something that would not be happening if you expected that we were going to see taxes go higher, regulation become tighter and trade deals reversed. That is the trifecta of income policy that the president instituted and has fueled markets. But i think its also a warning for this president and and other leaders that given the value of these companies, these efforts to go after big tech whether in the u. S. Or we see it in europe on the tax side, we see it in lots of countries in the privacy side this is going to have a big market cost if the world, the worlds governments died to go after the companies. Maria what about censoring conservative conversation . Kudos to facebook for standing up to the crowd saying you need to start preventing banning editing political advertise and what people may want as well. Dagen this trillion dollar on google puts a target on their back, they will get hammered over and over again by Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders assuming theyre not fighting with one another. Maria yeah. One thing to remember 1 trillion is about 5 of u. S. Gdp, two trillion Dollar Companies is 10 of gdp. Maria House Speaker slamming social media giant for what he says is misleading the American People, one veteranowned Company Making flipflops and other footwear from men and women, we have the story there. Historic auction, John F Kennedys belongs on the block, wait till you see that, we will slip in a short break, white house strategist steve bannon is here talking all things impeachment to 2020 and justice investigation, yes, they are looking at jim comey, we have that information. Com maria welcome back, new developments, Lauren Simonetti in headlines, lauren. Lauren despite earlier claims that there were no casualties, iran ayatollah said in weekly sermon that it had divine support in delivering, quote, slap in the face to the United States, the sermon came to downing of ukrainian airplane that killed 176 people on board, microsoft is taking on climate change, looking to trap all Carbon Dioxide ever sent in the atmosphere by the year 2050, all part of microsofts goal becoming negative by 2030, microsoft plans to invest to support companys developing technology to remove or reduce Carbon Dioxide, the new york mets part ways with new manager Carlos Beltran months before the kickoff to 2020 season, all of this coming in the wake of the mlb signstealing scandals, beltran was named in the report in the Houston Astros but not disciplined by the mlb, mets hired him 3 months ago, he didnt get to manage a single pay, the mets will not pay 3 milliondollar salary, San Francisco giants making history, get it, after hiring mlbs first female fulltime coach, there she is, first joined the team as an intern back in 2014, she played softball in college in sacramento state, no word yet if she will be one of the 7 coaches, the team has 13 but only 7 to dress in uniform for game, big achievement for females in mlb. Maria lauren, thank you. Dagen beltran . Oh, i dont know, im not a big baseball guy. Theres no such thing as bad publicity, get young people to join baseball again, i dont know, im not a dagen steve forbes, brian kilmeade, they think its a cheating scandal that will damage baseball and put asterisk next to astros world championship. The degree they benefited from cheating, alex was the manager, came from houston with the same technique, techniques to perhaps help his team, you ask yourself the money these guys are getting paid, i think one guy signed a contract for one year for 27 million, he was the mvp in 2018, the numbers inflated. Maria big numbers, decide to call split with old navy, more on that, the stock is up 5 and a quarter percent this morning on the news, then singer selected, demi lovato super bowl gig making buzz this morning right after the break. Truecar knows exactly how much people have been paying for the car i want. I tell truecar my zip and what car im into, and it shows me the truecar curve. This shows the range of prices people in my area actually paid for the same car. Looks like these folks paid a little more than everyone else. And this guy got the deal of a lifetime. This is how car buying was always meant to be. This is truecar. narrator before you buy a car, see what others paid for it with truecar. Download the my account app to manage your appointments making todays Xfinity Customer Service simple, easy, awesome. Ill pass. Maria welcome back, markets breaking records again, check out futures this morning, gain of 80 points, major indices closing at the highs yesterday, investors riding high, phase 1 china trade deal signing, the ceremony this week, joining us to talk more about markets, chief Investment Officer troy. Would you put more money to work . No, i think you want to put new money to work until they stop expanding Balance Sheet which they claim theyll do at the end of q2, plenty of wiggle room to continue to expand that, what we know is the fed is most powerful institution, they took a pause when fiscal policy took over, the resistance is higher prices for the time being. Is there a multiple that you will say you will stop buying . For earnings. Thats correct, our thesis was that at some point in the first half you had a reasonable probability to hit 20, after that, i think you want to get more cautious because remember what the fed is doing here, theyve done so many policies changes over the last 18 months that you cant discount that, what basically theyre doing they are willing to run higher possibility of mediumterm bubble risk to further lower nearterm Recession Risk and what they stop extending Balance Sheet theyll be correction, its just question of how severe. Dagen you can look at tenyear yield n recent history particularly in november of 2018 when it got to nearly 3 and a quarter percent, thats when the bottom fell out of the market, thats a good indicater of fed policy and also appetite for risk and once the yield start going up, it becomes more attractive to investors but right now its stocks and the dividend yield on the s p over 1. 8 on the 10year. Lets not forget theres mean ingful top here. We could get there, we could end up higher and the unfortunate part of that, a lot of people forget, the last 2 economic down turns were caused by collapsing bubbles coming out of the internet era and you had housing bubble, it is more concerning medium to longterm that that could help lead to an economic downturn again but for the time being Recession Risk has gone down meaningfully, the fed is pumping new liquidity. Maria what youre saying theres not a lot of wiggle room in terms of earnings miss, the backdrop has been pretty strong when the midst of Fourth Quarter earning season has been strong start in terms of banks, do you see anything in terms of horizon in terms of guidance, negative commentary from the corporate side of things that could mess with that wiggle room . Yeah, i mean, in terms of the Broader Market its unlikely that we get negative surprises to knock this trend off in shortterm, geo politically thats always there, if we had gone toward iran all bets are off f things are heated in north korea all bets are off. Its difficult when you look at economic con fundals and consumption growth, decline in cap x has abated and some argue cap x might come back and be a positive contributor, europe stopped falling off a cliff and they have at least stabilized. If target has bad earnings, thats not enough. I think if banks came out earlier this week and showed massive increases in delinquent loans and Net Interest Margin was collapsing and that might have been a problem. Maria how about if it looks like joe biden will be the candidate . Well, yes, now we are getting into the election, right, from our perspective, so as you get into late 223 market focused on outcome, consensus that mark will win the election. Secondary assumption if not trump then biden and people think that trump will be classic corporatist democratic president like clinton and obama, the danger with that, though, of course, if you look at bidens plan taking the Corporate Tax rate from 21 to 28 , taxing Capital Gains as the same as ordinary, thats obviously not a marketfriendly plan, as we get in q3, you talk about meaningful downturn or correction, clearly election thats suboptimal. Maria do you see any other marketfriendly plans on the democratic stage in. None whatsoever, lets not forget in the event the economy falters or doesnt do as expected, Interest Rates will come down quickly, i think the fed will be quick to add because the fed indicated repeatlied they are not that worried about inflation, let it run and they dont care, they will cut rates to keep recovery going. And we have to see the lower Interest Rates, lowering borrowing costs from 2019 begin to see it in spending provided boost to spending, faster rate of growth for home sales, we have the highest weekly reading on Mortgage Applications for the purchase of a home the latest week for the current recovery. Clearly lower Interest Rates have finally affected housing and housing construction. But, look, the reality is consumption growth 2 and a half years, we created 2. 6, no one expected that, very hard to see growth of consumption less than 2 , theres 140 base points of gdp. 50 and 75. Maria another stimulant. Youre already at 2. If you look back at people that are calling 80 probability of Recession Risk in 2020, the math never worked, the peak Recession Risk was 2030. Maria they kept talking recession. Dagen the American People are smarter into that. Maria bingo. How often do they Pay Attention to headlines . Dagen they know, are they making more money or changing jobs, do they feel secure . The average consumer is also looking at 401 k . Maria yeah. Their home prices are going up and they are not paying that much for gas, you know, they are going to consume. Dagen 10 Million People invested in 401 k plans, 100 Million People, so, you know, when the democrats want to dismiss whats going on in the market, just for the rich, thats simply not true. Maria on november 2016 the dow was at 18, look where we are right now. Amazing. Maria nancy pelosi versus facebook, the House Speaker slamming the social media giant for what she said is misleading the American People, we will get into it and the analysis of misery when unhappiness hits alltime high, we will tell you when to expect it, plus a real purple haze, arizona pot farm turns the sky purple, we will explain how back in a minute. Maria welcome back, good friday morning, everybody, thanks so much for joining us, im maria bartiromo, tgif, it is friday, january 17, take a look at markets, 6 32 on the east coast, unchartered territories yet again, futures pointing to high right out of the gates, industrial average up, nasdaq futures up 33 and s p futures currently up 7 and 3 quarters after major indices close at alltime high yesterday and the Senate Passing usmca yesterday, Global Markets look like, this european gains across the board as youll see ftse is up, cac in paris up and dax index in germany higher by 95, 3 quarters of 1 . In asia overnight modest gain, the slowest pace last year in nearly 30 years, 6 , 6. 1 , there were some upbeat numbers, data on chinese trail production but as you can see the shanghai composite was flat overnight. Lauren simonetti on headlines. Lauren was it deserved, maria . Nancy pelosi accuse for making money. I think theyve been abusive of the great opportunity that technology has given them but my thought about them is they dont want all they want are tax cuts and no antitrust action against them. Lauren wall street journal is reporting that facebook is dropping a plan to sell ads in whatsapp, the move marking reversal from controversial idea that forced creators of whatsapp to resign. Gap is scrapping plans to spin off old navy into own company, the cost of break up and softer performance led to the decision, the announcement coming at tough time in retail, macys is closing stores, jcpenney and kohls out with disappointing sales, it is not purple rain but certainly a purple haze, this is light coming from a medical marijuana farm falling over the sky in snowflake, arizona, you can see the odd purple glow, some people thought this was pretty, other complained about the Light Pollution from copper state farms which is the largest medical marijuana wholesaler in the state, red lights and blue lights are are needed to make te lights grow, you have purple. Maria got it, thank you, usmca crossing the finish line, headed to the president s desk, the nafta replacement passed the senate 8910 sending the deal to the president s desk, there was excitement on both sides of the aisle, nancy pelosi thinking this could led to infrastructure reform. When we come back first week we will be rolling out infrastructure legislation, now with the the passage the u. S. Mexicocanada agreement that they might be interested in cooperating in other ways. Maria joining us right now wall street journal Senior Writer Jon Hilsenrath. Do you think that gets done . Not this year, not this year, we are heading toward election season and we are also in the middle of an impeachment, doesnt seem like it. Maria shes trying to make it seem as business as usual. We are impeaching the president , no big deal. Dagen like it was her idea to renegotiate the canadamexico trade deal which was a campaign from President Trump when running for office. I love the cooperating with us. The good news is that things are lining pretty well for the president , in 2020 he got the deal done with china, usmca passed, so much uncertainty held back the economy and particularly on the investment front and the uncertainty disappears and we are setting up for another decent year for Economic Growth. I would say on infrastructure less of a node for increased Government Spending with the Unemployment Rate is at 3. 5 and you have Small Businesses indicating that their biggest problem is a lack of quality labor. Well, i think the economy could use, the United States could use more spending on roads, bridges, 5g technology in rural areas. Maria youre not worried about 22 trillion in debt . Youre not worried about 22 trilliondollar price tag . Thats a good problem. Thats certainly a good problem, yeah. I wanted to ask you a question, maria, you were in San Francisco, did you get a chance to walk around or see the streets at all, is the homeless problem as big maria we did a shoot with the police and we went to a lot of the areas in downtown San Francisco and then we went to residential areas and its unbelievable, we are going to be doing a special on it, there are tents that are lining the streets so you cannot walk on the sidewalk, jon, its unbelievable and you drive on the street, the whole street smells like marijuana, its just a sad and just terrible thing to see, San Francisco. Dagen can i point something, if you were on social media, Jon Hilsenrath you would know that because maria posted photos from the tools that she did of San Francisco but we need to start pushing back on the fallacy thats a housing shortage thats causing the problem, a great deal of homelessness is caused because people are mentally ill and we have spent literally the last 60 years in this country pushing against institutionalization and moving away from that and individual who is are clearly struggling with Mental Illness are on the streets and not being cared for and money is not the solution, you have seen it in new york. Maria addiction, a lot of the people are addicted also. Jon regulation is an issue here, they dont build new housing there. Maria goes back to policy. Jon they dont build up, they need more space, you know, Technology Talent flocking to all of these cities in california. Maria especially when you want to be a sanctuary city. Theyve got open doors and then theyve got a lot of free stuff, these policies, you know, enabling people to not work and be addicted, all goes back to policies, the police were saying to me, look, we want this changed, we need a different policy to help these people actually give them opportunities to work. Dagen releasing people from prison and people who are mentally ill. Maria yeah. Dagen theres been Research Done about this. It is a big movement in this country, you have seen what i was going to say in new york city that youve had about a billion dollars spent on the thrive initiative which is being run by the mayors wife and has been completely wasted and the problem with the mentally ill and people who are mentally unstable has actually gotten worse, so again, government is the problem and government provides no solution. Maria government is the problem, definitely the policy. I think there are a lot of policy issues where you have cities with similar climate, texas, florida. Theres a policy issue in california and San Francisco in particular. Maria i agree. Jon i didnt mean to change the subject. Maria glad you asked me, we did take a while to go and walk around with the police to see where the worst of it is and by the way, it was just like a mile away from where there are tents, a mile away, beautiful neighborhood, you cant walk a mile without seeing it. Jon this is what i find so fascinating. Maria you have all the whitecollar people in weston hotel, bankers come out of the ohio hotel up and down the street. Jon california has had a fast expansion, Silicon Valley is driving the world economy. Dagen this is a policy thats been in place in San Francisco since i was born. I lived in San Francisco during the dot com bubble and bust and it was exactly like that that then and they did nothing about it and only gotten worse where they tolerate people basically maria theyre not drug dealers, they are dealers and theres no accountability, that was one of the issues that the police said that theres no accountability, you can see people addicted, selling drugs, the petty crimes, they are not going to jail, they are on the streets, so its just continuing the issue, i wanted to ask you about china, but we are close to out of time, do you think is that going to get imported into the United States, does that impact the rest of the world because china i think the release of uncertainty is really helpful, when it comes to china buying 200 billion worth of american stuff my point is i believe it when i see it, look at whats going on in Commodity Markets right now, Commodity Prices arent moving, stocks are up but Soybean Prices havent got anywhere, thats the dog that isnt barking, people are skeptical that china will follow through on the economy, look, their economy is slowing down, how are they going to ramp up 20 billion worth of purchases when they are slowing down. Maria they took deal according to secretary mnuchin, 200, enforcement mechanism, they should have released the English Version of that immediately so that everybody, we could know what the promises were instead of giving it to the chinese and perhaps in translation changing it because there were certain words, maybe theyll buy as per market demand, in other words, why would they buy what they want. I agree with you, im skeptical that they will keep promises. I want to put it in context, they say the chinese will buy additional 200 billion of u. S. Exports, compareed to less 100 billion, thats crazy, more than doubling the current amount over 2 years. Maria yeah. Wow. Jon, thank you, good to see you, Jon Hilsenrath, wall street journal. Justice Department Investigation into leaks, dont miss that, big interview coming up. Stay with us. I want some more whats he doin . Please sir. I want some more more . He has asked for. Thank you well he did say please yes he did and, thank you all boys thank you, thank you, thank you. Very strong. I attend the senate in conformity with your notice for the purpose of joining with you for the trial of the president of the United States. Do you solemnly swear that in all things pertaining to the trial of the impeachment of donald john trump, president of the United States, now pending, you will do impartial justice according to the constitution and laws so help you god . I do. Maria all of this as the Government Accountability office determined that the Trump Administration violated the law when it withheld aid to ukraine. The white house slamming those findings, James Freemans op ed in the joint ventur journal abo. Jim comey could be under a new investigation into whether a leak to the media could have affected his handling of the fbi investigation into Hillary Clinton emails. Joining me right now is former chief white house chief strategist, steve bannon, here in the studio. Steve, grade to see you. Thank great to see you. Thank you for joining us. Here we are with a incred incre brooch on thbackdrop. As the president is signing the phase one, nancy pelosi signing the articles of impeachment. 100 years from now what theyll remember is not the false solemnity. Signing usmca and china in 24 hours, historic. Somebody that brought the country together, look at the vote in the senate yesterday, 8910 on usmca. Trump has brought the country together on the economy. And all the Mainstream Media, all the Opposition Party media, all they talk about is impeachment, impeachment, a impeachment. Now theyve got this its a as fafarce and its having parnp there, obviously making stuff up. The foreign minister in the ukraine said hes a stonecalled liar. Maria pa parnas was in jail. Hes indicted now. Hes trying to work the doj and the u. S. Attorney to get a lighter sentence because of this. Its shocking that the Mainstream Media is beatifying this guy. Jay clapper said theyre treating him like theodore roosevelt. This has gotten to be absurd. Nancy pelosi slowwalked the impeachment, the articles over, because they were waiting for parnas material to come in and for the g a ao report because she didnt have a crime and she didnt have and she had no evidence. I think what has to happen, i think msnbc, phil griffin, rachel madd maddow, there oughte an investigation maria she said shes been working on this for months. She ad admitted she was worg on this for months. We ought to have a full investigation and pelosi and schiff ought to be open for how long theyve been working on this. This has gotten to become a comic theater. I advocated for this to be a long trial and to get a lot of witnesses, to get what comey, brennan, what the whistleblower, all these did. Its so embarrassing what the democrats are doing. I think they ought to maybe dismiss this as being a joke. If lev parnas, saint lev parnas, if thats the best theyve got, this thing is a complete farce. Maria when you look at the constant coming up with more dirt and trying to find dirt on President Trump, i just think that the markets would not be at 29,000 if anybody believed that there was anything there there. Its the signal and the noise. The signal is just the noise is just what the democrats are doing. The signal is trump has usmca and the china deal. He has completely restructured our trading patterns. He made with usmca, north america and mexico a geo strategic manufacturing alternative to east asia and in china what hes done most significantly besides proving tariffs work and proving that protectionism works is hes put the chinese on notice to the world. Hes giving them a chance to live up to an agreement, finally, after they stiffed us on the agreement they signed with president obama in the rose garden, they lied about the paris accord. Hes giving the Chinese Communist party an opportunity to prove throughout the world they can live up to this. In this deal he is judge, jury, exclusioner on the ability to snap back tariffs if he thinks theyre not performing. The markets look, the stock markets up, the dollars strong because the world wants in on the action that donald trump has created in this country and the economy. Maria and they want fairness. Theyve seen a process in the house that was sort of making up the rules as you go along. Another thing is that the critics of the president refuse to acknowledge the wrongdoing that took place in 2016, the fact that this president was framed and was spied on as candidate trump and then again as President Trump. If they want a trial and witnesses, let them have bolton and lev parnas and throw in mulvaney too and all the emails. Let us have the whistleblower, let us have brennan, let us have come hey, joe biden. Lets have both sides have the witnesses. I will take our witnesses to prove from the beginning this was a nullfication project on a presidency that was disrupting things for the good of the American People. Let the nation see. To me, the t senate is not the jury. The American People are the jury and the world is the audience. They are going to watch in the streets of tehran, in hong kong, high juan, beijing taiwan, beijing, theyre going to watch what happens here. I think we need to get it all on the table. If its all on the table, the democrats are going to get smoked. Maria were looking at a market at alltime highs. If people thought that policy was going to change, if the president was going to get touched by this, it wouldnt be the case. Vice president mike pence out with a new op ed in the joint venture nail saying this, a partisan impeachment, profile in courage, he equates the john f. Kennedy profiles in courage award to a democratic senator breaking with the party, voting against impeachment. He writes this. The true profile in courage as kennedy understood it would be a Senate Democrat willing to stand up and reject a partisan impeachment passed by the democrat controlled house. The question arises who among the Senate Democrats will stand up to the passions of their party this time and who will stand up against legislative mob rule and for the ill rule of law. Who will be the 2020 profile in courage. I tell you who the profile in courage is, donald j trump. For him to stand up to everything they are have thrown at him. Yesterday for the usmca and china in the last 24 hours gets almost no Media Coverage an lev parnas gets hours of prime time that shows how biased this is. 100 years from now, when they look at this, theyll see this is a reversing of the managed decline of americas he elite by donaldonald trump who stood up e said no, this is the way were going to go and this is going to work. That is a profile in courage. He laid it all on the line and heres what theyve done. They tried to smear him with this impeachment process and President Trump ought to fire back and fight as hard as hes ever fought, not roll over with what some of these Senate Republicans want to do he ought to fight and demand witnesses. Maria dont forget, four of those senators who are supposed to be the jury, supposed to be the independent independents on trial are running for president. Ridiculous. Maria youve got klobuchar and Bernie Sanders and bennett and Elizabeth Warren going to be the jury. I mean, you cant make this stuff up. You ought to go back to the witness protection program, which is the democratic primary right now. Thats another farce. Maria i want to get your take on the democratic lineup on that stage and in particular you called it on bloomberg. You said a long time ago, on this program, on other programs, that Michael Bloomberg would enter. You were right. I want to get your take on him and what you want to watch in terms of bloomberg when he really gets in in terms of super tuesday, whats driving the billionaires president ial run as well. Stay with us on that. Weve got another break right here and then were going to talk about the democratic race and get Steve Bannons take on bloomberg. And disrespecting the national anthem, one teacher of the year, quote, unh unquote, kneeled durg the star spangled banner. Details coming up. Youre my golden star. Do you recall, not long ago we would walk on the sidewalk all around the wind blows we would only hold on to let go blow a kiss into the sun we need someone to lean on blow a kiss into the sun we needed somebody to lean on all we need is someone to lean on maria welcome back. I am back with former white house chief strategist steve bannon. Lets talk 2020. Michael bloomberg has spent more than 217 million so far in the 2020 race, betting that markets favor the mayor to defeat President Trump. Researchers believe he only has a 10 chance to win the democratic nomination. Assess the field. How important has the bloomberg situation been . L bloomberg as i said over the last year, hes going to be a disrupter. Number one, just in the primary itself. Hes not going to be the democratic nominee. Hes going to drop a Financial Nuclear bomb on the democratic primary on super tuesday. Hes got a Massive Organization in the field. I think the organizational capables are bigger than all the candidates combined. Plus, hes got a technology system, sophisticated as the trump campaign. Brad pascall had the sophisticated ever. Bloomberg is almost that quality. With bloomberg its not money. We think of raising cash for television ads. Michael block bery bloomberg isd capital. He hes talking about a 1 billion Capital Investment to defeat President Trump. Hes an oligarch. Youre seeing the oligarchs get involved in american politics. President trump ought to focus on this. Bloomberg is i think the disrupter in the election, not as a candidate. I think hes looking at something bigger, a takeover of the Democratic Party almost where hes prime minister. Hes looking at the vehicle, whether it be Bernie Sanders or joe biden, the vehicle that will let him take control. I think President Trump and the guys in the campaign have to start taking this seriously. Maria Elizabeth Warren is taking him seriously. She doesnt want him near the election because of the money he spent. He spent 100 million in november and he was effective in terms of helping the house win the majority. Donald trump would not be impeached today if it were not for bloomberg. Iit was his 100 million, i thik they focused on 25 races, they won 23. Hes applied money. At the nra, his ground game i think was every town usa, really went a long way to destroying the nra. Michael bloomberg knows how to apply capital to situations and hes a very serious individual. Hes got a personal a vendetta against President Trump. I think he hates President Trump. People have to start taking him seriously. Mocked and ridicules me when i first started talking about this. He has 50 billion. He can apply as much as he wants to this race. People must take him seriously. Maria he did it for his run in new york city. 300 million in the third run. Maria the wall street journal writes its the game plan he used for mayor when he outspent the mayor nearly five to one. We dont know what his you priorities are, other than climate and guns, guns and the environment are his two. He said he has a jobs plan. I dont know what it is. Can you just jump dump a lot dump a lot of money and become a factor without having a policy that resonates with people. Hes going to bias buy as many policy experts as he has to. He will come up look, hes not going to be president of the United States. Hes not going to be the democratic nominee. Its his capital and his operation, his apparatus thats going to have a major impact in this. I think that President Trump and the team have got to start getting focused on where is bloomberg and where is bloomberg you applying this capital. Maria hes not a progressive the way a sanders or a warren are and thats not going to be good enough for tom perez, the top of the Democratic Party. He was a moderate to liberal republican in his first two terms as mayor. He shifted over to become an independent because he realized he was going to go to the Democratic Party, he only flipped because of his hatred for donald trump. His policies will be whatever policy he has to to remove donald trump from office. Thats why he those be taken seriously. The democrats are not going to succeed on impeachment. Its bloombergs capital that they hope to thwart the trump ref rulings thats working for my revolution thats working for the middle class people. Maria senator Elizabeth Warren confronted Bernie Sanders about denying her claim that he told her a woman cannot be president. Lets watch it. I think you called me a liar on national tv. Lets not do it right now. You want to have that discussion, well have that discussion. You called me i just want to say hi, bernie. Maria tom steyer just wanted to say hi. Your reaction to that. The debate the other night was like the night of the living dead meets pleasantville. Its a bunch of stiffs. The people on that stable are not going to defeat donald trump. Bernie sanders and these people, the hot mic is the big event. Theyre not going after each other. Im tired of the populace left. Aoc better get them to go after joe biden over his incompetence. He has supported every trade deal and every legislation that has hurt middle class people. You never hear that on that stage. Also, in a world where geo politics is everything right now, what President Trump has done with china and tehran and the world, okay, you see on the streets of hong kong and taiwan and beirut and tehran theyre supporting President Trump for the rule of law and capitalism and you hear this debate, its like something in the seventh grade, its ridiculous. This is the media has the fix in, theyre not holding these people accountable. If they think thats going to beat trump in november. Ive got another thing for them. Donald trump is going to bring the heat. What you see on that stage has no chance of beating donald trump. Maria thats some of the reasoning behind the impeachment trial. They know they cannot beat him. Theyre looking at the landscape and hes going to win again. Look at the markets at 29,000. I said it the other day, if anybody felt like he was going to get taken down and his policies were going to get changed, we wouldnt have this, this market like this and if he were to get taken down i think there would be anarchy. I think there would be upset in the streets, people protesting, just because of the fairness element, not about trump but its not a fair process. The reason thats not going to happen, people understand whats going on here. They understand what hes been doing and everybodys been pushing back and saying were going to have a massive recession, all this is going to happen. Thats why its a profile in courage. Hes done this against wall street, against all intellectual academics, the phds in economics hes done it against everybody. The biggest problem hes got is a dollar thats overvalued. The world votes every day on Donald Trumps economy and they want in. Thats why the dollars so strong. So to me, thats what hes going against, the established order. What hes proven is his disruption is working and history, the fullness of time, people are going to realize he brought the country together. Maria great to have you. Thanks so much. He is proposing cutting traffic fines in half, but only for low income drivers. The state in the middle of a high tax exodus is about 2 billion in the red over unpaid fines, residents are weighing in on the governors plan. Check this out. Theres really a decline in the middle class. All you have is poor people and really rich people. And so we need to adjust our policies accordingly. I am worried about my insurance. I hope it doesnt pass. It should be the same. I would say its fair, at the end of the day, were in different positions. They should have options on making payments, like cars. Its a paperwork that says what you earn and according to that you could go from there. Depending on how much money they make, they could also do community service. We should help out the less fortunate. Why should they get a . They committed a crime. It sends a bad message, make lower wages and you get this stuff from the government. Maria different rules for different people. Joining me right now is the cyber guy, kurt knutsson. Hello, kurt. It is on fire out here in california with regard to this debate, maria. Good morning to you. Maria i dont this kind of thing will cause so many unintended consequences. You know correct. Maria thats one of the issues here. You know how many people are going to be trying hard to skirt the law and take their income down so that they and show a different income, hide income. There are these unintended consequences. Its also just the fairness, i mean, is it the law or not. Youre right, its not fair. Look at the next cascading effects. You have also lets suppose this becomes the law. They have a pilot program. Theyve been doing it. Some people are paying half the price of a ticket. Meanwhile, you may were going to pay the full price. The concern might be the cascading effect is that the people then who are irresponsible who get the ticket in the first place, they dont have the consequence. What happens to insurance rates. Car insurance rates go up for everybody. Theres a lot unfigured out, a lot that has not been figured out about this. One thing, in california, let me give you rattle off crazy ticket prices. You come to a not a full stop and you make a turn at a stop sign, 1,000. You pull in front of 500, penalty gets up to 1,000, i should say. You pull in front of a wheelchair access point for the disabled and park there, 1,100. So ticket prices are not cheap in california. However, the penalty is there for a reason. And not everybody agrees that some should get off easy on it. Maria yep. Kurt, maria, to your point about unintended consequences, kurt, im wondering what is the plan here to disincentiveize someone who is in the no penalty category. I mean, you dont want to be of on a highway with people for whom there is no cost to violating the law. Undoubtedly in the long run this would turn into that position to where you have people driving in a less consider at fashion, less safe driving because theres no consequence. If im not going to have to pay the price figured out, gets people to curtail to obey the law, what do you think is going to happen . People are going to speed. People are going to run red lights, people are going to blow you through stop signs. That is exactly on the road map for california should this go through. If you were stopped in california and they fined a plastic find a plastic shampoo bottle in the vehicle, you are in deep trouble. Maria what . Dagen this is not just going on in california. Governor Ralph Northam in virginia is proposing eliminating Vehicle Safety inspections. Youre not going to make the drivers get their vehicles inspected . You cant guarantee the safety of that. He wants to trample on the Second Amendment but its okay to drive a vehicle that hasnt been inspected. I know youre laughing. I was referring to the maria cracking me up. The regulations out there, i dont mean to worry california drivers on that but the point is that were kind of testing liberalism in california. Good luck with the results. Well see how many people want to move to texas. Maria kurt, thank you. We will keep following it. Kurt knutsson. Dont be caught with a plastic shampoo bottle in your car. We will be right back. Maria updates in the College Admissions scandal, prosecutors release emails they say Actress Lori Loughlin and her husband knowingly participated in the scam to get their daughters into the university of Southern California by passing the girls off as crew at leads. At the same time, the university was courting the couple offering personal tours, flagging applications in exchange for donations. The University Says thats routine and the family did not receive special treatment. Both loughlin and gianouli have pleaded not guilty to charges filed against them. They said they engaged in legitimate practices by making donations and multiple employees knew about the crew scam. Joining us right now is g iana spielberg. Your reaction. I think this will be a game changer for loughlins defense camp. They had to fight to get the emails. All along Lori Loughlin and her husbands defense has been we are not perpetrators, we are victims of rick singer who is a con man who is trying to save his own behind by turning over whatever he thinks he can do in order to get a shorter sentence. And these. These emails if Lori Loughlin is not misremembering what transpired may support her position. Maria in terms of the crew, and saying that the daughters were part of this athletic crew, was that youre saying that was his idea or are there emails indicating she had no input in that . You know, i think when this story first broke, everybody probably was on the same page in that i felt Lori Loughlin was dead to it right. You know the only rogu rowing yr children had done was the helle eliptical on planet fitness. Since then, we might actually make them put an ore in the water and she went along with that. So who is he is clearly the mastermind. In order to dupe the people, you have to tell a tall tale and shes claiming he did that to us. These cases obviously we focused for understandable reasons on the high profile parents involved. Right. Is there an a argument that maybe people at the schools should be greater focus for prosecutors, im mean, if they think this is prosecuteable activity in any case. I think thats a great point. How complacent are the universities who got some of that money, right. I dont think it all went to rick singer. So are they turning a blind eye, are they willfully blind to all this to allow it to happen and if so, what part do they play and does that also support Lori Loughlins defense in this case . Look, she could have gotten her hand slapped and did two weeks probably like Felicity Huffman did. She has all a along towed this line and her position isnt going to change. Dagen in the original indictment, if you read the entire thing, theres a lot of transcripts from phone calls, there were a lot of individuals at at the colleges who were named, one individual at myal ma matter a alma mater, wake forest. Maria floridas Supreme Court ruling some convicted felons should be required to pay off any fines or fees before heading to the ballot box in november. The court is siding with republican governor ron de santis. I have two words for anybody who disagrees with this ruling and they are boo hoo. Listen, nothing in in life is free. Not college, not health care, and not committing a crime. If we dont force the people who perpetrate these crimes to pay for the cost of prosecution and the cost for babysitting them after the crime, guess who pays . All of us. Maria exactly. In our taxes. Its one way to get them to hold their feet to the fire is to force them to complete their sentences which includes restitution, fines, et cetera, before they can restore their other rights, why would we do anything else . Maria thats fair. I agree with that. Then there is this, the rise of the dog wars, more couples may be putting off marriage and getting a dog instead. The law needs to catch up here. The law treats pets as property and i dont care how rich or poor you are, you can easily replace a couch but you can never replace a tailwagging bundle of love and licks. Its important to make sure you have an agreement in place because the law is not going to do it for you, unless you live in alaska, the only state in the union who treats pets more like children in divorce than you do property. Dagen even if you cohabitat with someone, which according to judge judy you should never do, you have the law on your side. You should get a lawyer and signed documents of who owns the dog, who the dog belongs to. You absolutely should. We call it a prepuptual in my office. Its very important, its a contract. The war on welt, 2020 democratic candidate Elizabeth Warrens economic plan proposes the following, a 2 annual tax on household wel wealth over 508 million, a green manufacturing plan that she says will create 1 million jobs, increasing the minimum wage to 15 and hour and medicare for all. My next guest wrote a new book about how her presidency will destroy the middle class and the american dream. Joining us now, author david bonson. Thank you for joining us. Its an easy read. Tell us whats in the book and why you think her policies will destroy the american economy. I tried to do two things in the book, tried to go through policy by policy, and it was a lot more research intensive than i thought. She does have a plan for that, other than how she was going to pay for medicare for all, there were 55 white papers on her website. You had to really unpack some of the things she would say about natural Gas Production and that student loan forgiveness. I kind of unpacked all that. But then i wanted to offer my sort of almost social commentary on where i think she wants to take the nation and the implications for telling a an entire society of people that theyre victims of other wealthy successful people. Theres a lot that needed to be unpacked and thats what we did. As you mentioned, she talks a lot about going after the wealthy, successful people. She says two cent tax on the net worth of billionaires, its actually six cents a year. Can you tell us what are the taxes that are going to impact people who arent billionaires . I think thats kind of gotten lost in the chatter a little bit. Even the wealth tax, she starts at 50 million. Im not suggesting 50 million is not a lot of money. But its 950 million away from a bill fair. What do you think the billionaire. What do you think the odds are it stays to 50 million. It will come down to 5 million in three years. The employment taskses she wants wants taxers shs taxes sht on businesses. She gets to say im not raising marginal tax rates, it isnt in the normal ordinary income rates but the effect of doing that applies to a lot of income groups. On the wealth tax, if you have a wel wealth tax people wil shift their money out of stocks and put it into assets like art or real estate. But when you take money out of the equity market, that will put downward pressure on the prices of equities. It turns out theres 100 million americans that have 401k plans. Maria shes going totally up what your art is worth as well. How do you do that . Maria you can figure it out. Shes going to put a tax on it. Thats right. I would say theres two big problems. One is that incentiveizes ceos to talk to their stock down at the end of every year. Theyre going to get a big tax bill, so theres all kinds of inefficiencies and distortions it represents but were talking about publicly l held stocks that at least you can make a market in, you have a l value. What about the family owned chain of car washes and illliquid llcs that are difficult to value and dont necessarily have the liquid at this to pay the tax year by year,s thats why france got rid of it, thats why sweden got rid of it. Maria are Bernie Sanders plans much different . His starts at 32 million, hers starts at 50 million. Theyre not really very different. Maria check it out, Elizabeth Warren, david bonson, thank you. Unless sat down with what kind of chief strategist bannon asked about Michael Bloomberg and campaign spending. Bloomberg has said, over the last year he have is going to be a disruptureer just he is not the xa democratic o nominee going to drop a financial bomb on democratic primary super tuesday. You dont know how that plays out remember what happened at end last year, when Michael Bloomberg gave democrats 100 Million Dollars plus and it worked because they took the majority in the house. Yeah this could be one factor in this race that people are kind every under rating we have talked about, problems that the leadinging Democratic Candidates have talked about good economy advantage that gives to the president but could be unprecedented tom steyer spending has gone done significant help in polls if you think bloomberg whether or not he can get the o also nomination become the opponent for mr. Trump in the fall, this spending he is able to do on a scale that is never really contemplated before, could have an enormous impact, i am not suan counting for. There is impact to numbers bloomberg has already spent 217 Million Dollars, so far, on television, and advertising that is more than every other president ial campaign and jacking up the prices for advertisements and staff, here is one Capital Television ad rates jumped 45 , in houston, texas after bloombergs campaign bot one Million Dollars worth of ads in november, this is happening across the board he is looking towards super tuesday more than 40 delegates on sturp tuesday you get an ad for president ial campaign if you impeachment get his ads. Google Sexual Harassment bloomberg referring to Sexual Harassment issues at his company you will get an ad for president ial campaign. I wonder i asked steve bannon earlier that is enough, we know, that he spent a lot of more than, in terms of philanthropy gun, climate issues we know big, important priorities for bloomberg, but is it enough, to spend all this money even though people dont really know what his policies are . Do you know what his job plan is . No, i dont. That is the problem with advertisements i have seen on television why are you spending all the money you are not getting a lot of bang for your buck you are not delivering a message that might change your voters mind about donald trump, about that is what his intent is. I think if you want to be sufficiently he has to come up with a message, that has some major breaks with orthodoxy of the Democratic Party much same way donald trump did with republicans in 2016 and thus far he hasnt been bold enough to do that. Dagen i ron tick message from the left is rich sticking to it little guy well the rich is this rich dude is sticking to it you smaller candidates at every turn. Maria are i dont think people want to see somebody buying an election if you are buying all those ads, spending 217 Million Dollars, already with plans to spend a billion dollars, are everyone if you are not nominee which iss what he said the other day, i think people dont want to see just an ability to buy everybody out. Dagen this is the campaign is paying the paying double going rate for staff. And will promising jobs to workers through november. They are hiring even if i dont get anywhere we pay you through november according to the wall street journal story. On top of money has good story to tell about time as mayor of new york city if he wants to tell it will unfortunately has been essentially, apologizing, for the policing that people can debate it but er certainly resulted in a very safe city. So i think he has to decide what his message is, because yeah money alone traditional not enough. He took politics out of the police department. Now reinserting very and turning his back on the policies right or wrong that were looks as though about money you end up looking very shallow as a candidate. The. Maria earlier Jon Hilsenrath asked me about San Francisco i said that i walked around the streets, and it really is as bad as looks in pictures there are tents up and down the street in San Francisco homeless problem has gotten much worse this is Nancy Pelosis district. This could be great issue for bloomberg not just contrasting with kind of the out of control leftists in bigs cities but failures of Pete Buttigieg in southbend Michael Bloomberg has run biggest city in the country run it well. Maria i am wondering why we havent seen more proposals from atmospheric in terms of fixing the homeless problem. Dagen she is mad at facebook. Mad 59 President Trump for sure Senate Opening impeachment trial sf President Trump one lawmaker calling for all 2020 candidates to recuse from that case. President ial john f. Kennedy belongings on the block weve got some on set, back in a moment. , they help us with achievable steps along the way. So we can spend a bit now, knowing were prepared for the future. Surprise we renovated the guest room, so you can live with us. Oooh, well. Im good at my condo. Oh. I love her condo. Nana throws the best parties. Well planned, well invested, well protected. Voya. Be confident to and through retirement. Maria welcome back, impeachment moved to the senate chief just john roberts swearing in members of the senate yesterday mark wereing official beginning of the impeachment trial of President Trump, joining me right now tennessee senator Member Senate Judiciary Committee Marsha Blackburn good to see you. Thanks so much being here you have publicly called for four senators running for president theyre president ial candidates to actually recuse themselves from this trial, from the senate trial because they have a political interest in seeing this president removed from of those explain. Yes, i think that there is a good precedent to 1868 trial of Andrew Johnson a tennesseean calling for recusal from someone who benefit if you look at the fact four candidates are spending hundreds of hours you millions of dollars, defeat donald trump take oath to via impartial justice i think a difficult standard for them to meet i have recognized recommended this could be good thing for them to step aside from the trial. Maria you cant write this this is absolutely extraordinary that you have these senators running to take President Trumps job, they are running for president and, yet, he they are supposed he to be considered, juryists, and independent mind people to judge whether or not the president did anything wrong. That is exactly right, and bear in mind what they are going to be doing day job will be the sit as juror, then in their afternoons evenings free time they are going to be ring for president. And maria, i bet you that they are out there in iowa this weekend, they got sworn in yesterday. To be a juror to provide impartial justice campaigning against him this weekend, in iowa. Was there any response from any of them . I mean it is pretty obvious what you are saying, is true. They are not an independent the factor he want to take the president down, yet i mean just feels like the whole thing whether it is the the situation in the house, as adam schiff you know began that, by reading, something that was made up it wasnt the actual transcript of the call, or the rules being changed as you went along and now you have the senate trial four candidates for president sitting there. That is exactly right. And others in the room, who did run, and have now suspended campaigns but bear in mind this has been a partisan impeachment from the getgo they were going to get him on something they said they were going to impeach him. Nancy pelosi is fulfilling a commitment that she made and they are going to continue along this partisan line, the things that concerns me, is the damage that this is doing to the of those of the presidency, to the institution, and to the country as a whole. Maria well it is that is right, i mean the Country Agency a whole is important point, because for two, three years you know we watched, the country the up in arms, over this collusion between russia and President Trump then candidate trump. Now we know officially that was complete nonsense ig report tells us that, weve got a criminal investigation by john durham Digging Deeper into that is that partly of this . If they do not want the critics of President Trump to to face accountability, for trying to frame him . Well, and i think i think we have to bear in mind, that what they have done is to say anything, that they the democrats do is fine. Anything that president he obama did, that was fine. Because to them they are means justifies theirs ends their ends is about power and control. They cannot bear it that donald trump has been successful in three trade agreements, the economy is booming, people are making money, they have got christmas bonuses raises, and now with the china deal usmca, people beginning to look at what we will do with uk and the eu, i have to tell you my auto manufacturers my Farmers Producers they are mighty happy campers very pleased with donald trump. They want to see four more years, with president donald trump. Maria she was signing, the impeachment articles, the usmca trade agreement passed the senate yesterday the president was signing the china deal usmca replacing nafta, tariff free trade will continue in north america bringing changes to the Auto Industry tried among u. S. Mexicocanada. This is a rare moment of bipartisan coordination against impeachment backdrop where most people agree usmca is progress for the u. S. Economy and will lead to growth. They do. And when i talk to those thatr in the auto Manufacturing Industry in tennessee when i talk to those in trucking, and logistics he they are thrilled with this especially those truckers that run the long routes. And look at the opportunity to run those long routes, going from mexico, to canada, and the increased wages that is going to mean for them. So logistics, and that transport segment they are very happy with this. And also, the intellectual property protections for our innovators that is something both in china and usmca. So substantial steps forward. Kwuk next week the trial will begin on tuesday. Map it out for us how many hours will that go on tuesday, what are you expecting do you think we are going to see witnesses or no . A i think that on tuesday we kl begin the process of going through the resolution we will be in chamber for several hours. Were going to hear first from the house managers. Then from the president s managers, that will be later in the week. We will be submitting questions to the chief justice who will ask those questions and, quite frankly, i think after a couple of weeks we will be ready to proceed to a vote whether guilty or there is an acquittal quite frankly i dont think you are going to see the witnesses, i am not for witnesses. The i think the American People i know tennesseeans are ready to will get this over with they feel like this is drug on three years they have been hearing the tale of were going to impeach him. They are saying were done with this story. Get on with the nations business. Good to have you. Good to be with you this you. Maria welcome back futures indicating another gain start of trading we are unhe chaertdz territoried for the markets, dow futures up 70 nasdaq futures up 34 s p futures up 8, markets hitting new records fueled by signing of the stage one china trade deal, as well as the Senate Passing usmca bill yesterday, investors keeping eye on earnings middle of Fourth Quarter reporting companies google, just became the Fourth Company to pass one trilliondollar mark in market value, joining us right now Charles Schwab sr. , Vice President chief investment will strategist Liz Ann Sonders thank you so much for being here backdrop obviously, what drives stocks how o would you characterize the earnings season so far what kind of a backdrop are you expecting in 2020 . Well any season still essential obviously, but beat rate near 80 running above long term average, you do tend to bias toward beginning of reporting season, those companies that are out performing consensus estimates i would expect that to come down, i know. The question is less about Fourth Quarter earnings rightfully so sort of writing off 2019 as flat orientation year given tough kofrpdz against 2018, 2020 looks a little bit better own consensus numbers are edging down for 2020, i think it is too soon to tell he will whether the doubledigit growth will come to fruition the market is largely being driven by momentum tried weve got very loose financial conditions fed on sidelines good macrobookdrop, professional o Money Managers somewhat bearishly positioned agency we owneded the year so i think a lot of performance chasing as well as Short Covering as welcome as firms funds can be on short side so we have power of momentum the thing that concerns me p sentiment getting at a little bit frothy. What would with send market down 10 some point in 2020 any ideas. If you get to such elevated level of optimism does suggest vulnerability for Catalyst Environmental servers not chasing upside might have lets vulnerability what we saw beginning 2018 was just implosion of socalled short volatility trade so much money was in vehicles that were set up to play on volatility raimth, all you needed in that environment was a pickup in volatility, kind of wiped a lot of those investments out then, of course, you have trade concerns you can see something wheel up from trade perspective successing all clear sign not quite as clear we could see something either in earnings, or maybe the outlook for 2020. It may not take a huge fundamental spark given how onesided sentiment has become, but we have been that way a couple months has not that i knowh not each prevented market going pg higher why i made the point in and offis elevates smo. Doesnt set up market for pullback just makes it maybe a bit more vulnerable. James freeman the wall street journal speaking of elevated o optimism i feel we augmenting to get higher expenditure trade fights partial vovld sm we curb enthusiasm on that what do yous expect. I think if your expectation is force a significant lift in capex plansor capex itself, i think you want to curb enthusiasm i think it is too soon to tell in fact, even in utmost recent ism as we, about. Maria yeah. When was done not after signing of phase one deal but we knew it was likely coming, expectations for capex in 2020 are a negative territory for the firsts first time 11 years i think if you are purchasing manager if you are a cfo, are charged with large you longterm capex what has kept you on sidelined is trade uncertainty i am not sure phase one is sufficient to alleviate that probably the stabilized of these. Thank you. We will see you soon well be right back with housing for 36 months. Experience amazing at your lexus dealer. Disruptering Housing Starts permits get to Lauren Simonetti with numbers lauren. What a strong report the month of december so Housing Starts, this is Ground Breaking on new homes coming in 1. 608. Million units, the expectations was 1. 375 but certainly a big beat, also show you permits now 24ez were warshi weaker than expected the number 12 1 2year high coming down from that number for permits future groundbreaking 1. 416 million tailwinds here for however, warmer weather in the month december, home builders optimistic consumer strong Mortgage Rates low three cuts last year. Housing starts up 16. 9 when you see that kind of construction, that is right there, indicator of economic strength. Absolutely. Maria if you are talking to me, what a beat. And i just told you some of the benefits for the housing market, obviously, it is the consumer being Strong Economy Strong Builders Start Building that many homes with growth coming from singlefamily homes as well, definitely warmer weather, very temperate december that probably helped as well. Maria right. For december. Maria markets have not the reacted much we are still in in chattered territory with gain expected of start of trading we should point out this is a big gain, and we were expecting a decline. Lauren simonetti thank you for that, we want to move to 2020 race fourway tie in Iowa Democratic caucus less than three weeks away joe biden frontrunner status looking a little shaky onei would with poll has former Vice President leading with 24 another show shows him falling 3 to fourth place, frank, what a situation we have on our hands it is great to see you this morning, welcome back frank. It is greet to be here i am in iowa spent last week in New Hampshire got to admit never acknowledged before i have been doing this 30 years. I dont know who wins iowa i dont know who avoidance New Hampshire i dont know who wins democratic nomination makes me a bad guess, joe biden if he wins iowa, New Hampshire frontrunner status will be so strong that it will be hard to deny the nomination that one poll that has him at 24 really excited the biden people, but there are other surveys out there put him another third or even fourth, there are surge about 6 weeks ago appears to have dropped back Elizabeth Warren had a 13ur7b8g or 4 weeks ago that pears to have dropped back. It appears sanders senator sanders appears to have gained two or three percent in the last ten days or so had a reasonably good debate, it is too close to call. Maria we have been talking a lot this morning about the bloomberg huge spending. Campaign. And how that is changing the dynamics for 2020 frank the new york city former new york city mayor spent more than 217 Million Dollars so far. On advertising in 2020 race, and betting markets favor the mayor to defeat President Trump researchers believe he only has 10 percent chance to win the democratic nomination steve bannon in studio a few minutes ago said he is not going to be do democratic candidate not going to be about the president how do you see it. I see the democrats dont like bin i know airs said so in the groups in polling bloomberg has one advancing on super tuesday all candidates are out of money, Mike Bloomberg will be able to out spend all of them, in that last essentially last week. He is gaining in california, he is doing better in georgia, watching statebystate results. Bloomberg is coming close to that critical double digital threshold takes 15 to win a delegate bloomberg has a month, to get to that 1a 15 level gaining impact whether enough delegates super tuesday is still in clear. Dagen it is dagen mcdowell, again even in world of Online Dating you inadvertently have to meet the person, in the real world, and see them facetoface. Do we have any evidence of how effective Mike Bloomberg is that the . Because if President Trump i think people were surprised how good he was, as a retail owing candidate really enjoyed rallies seems to come out of the no whether for some people. What about bloomberg especially his effectiveness there. I worked with him in 2001. I was surprised how good he was he is not a natural candidate not a natural politician i think that plays wealth the question is, is ploom bloom, by the way, i love your analogy trying to think of something to challenge it but it is early morning, even though this is cable i dont want to get myself into trouble. I i do think he is going to get to that 15 threshold, in half dozen super tuesday states that now makes it five candidates collecting delegates. By that point 2 closer to critical dates, the more likely it looks that nobody can get a majority by the time you get to the conventions one more point it is a disgrace that Democratic Party is keeping bloomberg out of debates he is a viable candidate polling higher than some of those candidates in the debates, surely she be allowed and in fact required to put his ideas up against the other candidates. James freeman the wall street journal, before we get to super tuesday Mike Bloomberg gets into the contest you mentioned how you cant pick winner for iowa, New Hampshire we reassures four leaders all pretty close in the polls, can we assume imentd is going to be, in both states going to be one of these four . Or do you see a chance that maybe Amy Klobuchar or somebody else could emerge here in the final weeks . First they will have to do Senate Impeachment trial. Well there is that. We disadvantage for those senators i think the numbers are going to be put in place because the attention is going to be on senate trial not on campaign appearances, and the candidates starting tuesday, cannot be challenging each other, 2 one thing im watching for us the battle between senator waern and senator sanders it was ugly wvt that debate i think that is having an impact. Audio cnn the released audio from my Vantage Point debate warren kroptdz sanders about denying her claim told her a woman cannot be president take a look watch. I think you called me a liar on national tv . What . I think you called me a liar on national tv. Lets not go it right now you wanted to have that discussion we will have that discussion you called me you told me lets not the. Oi dont want to get in the middle i just want to as i hi. Yeah good okay. What could this mean for chances in iowa. Just shows that tom satires the wrong guy the wrong place the wrong time. Again i think it is i actually think going to have an impact, there is enough room, sorry there is enough room for sanders and warren to capture that nomination absolutely, but not if both are in the race, what this does, because that is is an ugly exchange, does makes it much harder for sanders voters to go to waern or waern voters to go to savndz that exchange makes it more likely joe biden is nominee. She he wouldnt shake his hand good to see you she is falling back in the pols, she has got to do something to be a factor, there you go. I dont know fp he said it or not but good to see you please come back soon, frank luntz, u. S. Or could things go a different way . I wanted to help protect myself. My doctor recommended eliquis. Eliquis is proven to treat and help prevent another dvt or pe blood clot. Almost 98 percent of patients on eliquis didnt experience another, and eliquis has significantly less major bleeding than the standard treatment. Eliquis is fdaapproved and has both. Dont stop eliquis unless your doctor tells you to. Eliquis can cause serious and in rare cases fatal bleeding. Dont take eliquis if you have an artificial heart valve or abnormal bleeding. If you had a spinal injection while on eliquis call your doctor right away if you have tingling, numbness, or muscle weakness. While taking eliquis, you may bruise more easily and it may take longer than usual for bleeding to stop. Seek immediate medical care for sudden signs of bleeding, like unusual bruising. Eliquis may increase your bleeding risk if you take certain medicines. Tell your doctor about all planned medical or dental procedures. Whats around the corner could be worth waiting for. Ask your doctor about eliquis. Talk, talk while our compe whistling continues to talk. See how to keep people moving, to keep a city moving. With esri location technology, you can see what others cant. Maria well, you asked. Im answering. Usually im the one asking the questions but im getting behind the microphone now. The tables are turning. Every friday im answering your questions from social media. Lets get into it. The first question, diane asks what was your first job you ever had . Some of my viewers know this. I was coat check girl in my dads restaurant in brooklyn. Heres a picture of the actual sign that hung on the wall in the coat check room of the rex manor. I have it framed and it is hanging up in my study. We charged 50 cents a coat. Lot of people gave me a dollar so i would make big tips but it taught me so much about being in service business, interacting with customers. I love this sign and i look at it every day, lovingly, knowing that that is where i started, checking your coat. And please pay in advance, i asked everybody. 50 cents, pay in advance. Next question.
