How it recorded sales, stock is plunging this morning on that news. Under armor shares down 16 and three quarters percent. U. S. China trade optimism fueling the broader averages. President trump in Constant Contact with chinese president xxijinping. A deal could be reached this month. Futures indicating a gain in the p p triple digits at the start of trading this morning. S p 500 is up 15, nasdaq higher by 51. Mornings with maria begins right now. Youre the only thing i know. So wont you take, wont you take me home. Maria good monday morning. We have a big show this morning. Joining the conversation, lee car first here. Cfra director of Equity Research, ken leon is here and mitch rochell. We have a big shakeup going on at mcdonalds this morning. The Company Fired the ceo over a consensual relationship he had with an employee. Mcdonalds shares are sliding in the premarket this morning. Down 2 and a quarter percent. Reaction here . Its interesting the word consensual is in the news alert. I would not have expected to he see that word but thats also the man who brought us allDay Breakfast. So to me, hes a hero. I think p i i think it was at word for them. Consensual is the word i took away as well. They moved swiftly on this. He repeated the same message. Its important to note its consensual. At the end, hes still maria he said he made a mistake, it was a right move, hes agreeing with the company and he made a statement to that effect, also talked about an insider taking over the job, an insider from the company will become the new ceo. This is a personal situation. I mean, i dont think that it it means anything for the mcdonalds strategy, do you . Most likely not. Its a personal situation but this ceo had a great ride. It was a great track record. Its amazing how quickly you can fall. Maria its a good point. And that happens so often for the wrong reasons. Not for what was done, but for having such a great record and its over. Maria and mcdonalds had such a great record in materials of growth in earnings and revenue. What can you tell us this morning in terms of where we are in the overall earnings season . In terms of growth and revenue. What are you hearing from ceos in this Third Quarter period. Were coming to the end. Another 20 of s p 500 earnings are yet of to come. Generally the companies have beat, about 70 of companies have beat earnings. Quality has been good. But then again, were now looking at Fourth Quarter and 2020, we also had a great jobs report friday and you know what, toll row we have the election tomorrow we have the election. Maria thats true. How does that play into it. Futures are up this morning, up 132 points even with the mcdonalds decline dragging on the dow. It is largely the backdrop. Its the Third Quarter earnings looking good. Those jobs numbers on friday surprised, even when you look at the General Motors situation taken out of that, the number was a blowout. And boeing. You strip those two out and you still have numbers that were considerably higher than expectations and if you dug deep into them, theres good news really across the board. Maybe the rumors of recession were greatly edge a exaggerated. Maria under armor is under investigation. The stock it plummeting this morning. The company disclosed yesterday that federal officials are looking into its Accounting Practices ahead of the Third Quarter earnings. Theyre expected in about an hour. Ken, what do you expect here with the 50 selloff going into the quarter . This is evident of deep issues. Cfra does forensic research. We were on top of underarmor. It really speaks to the quality of earnings in the last few quarters, that have been weak. When you talk about earnings, its organic sales growth. Can you drive your business. Underarmor had an amazing track record and then fell short domestically. Maria they had a great track record but they had an inability to compete in china the way nike has done, right . Nike really had the lead in china. Brand is always important. Maria thats a good point. When you come in as a late second brand into a market, and its distribution, nike took many years to develop outlets for shopping and that takes time. So coming late and then having disappointment with revenue growth, especially in the u. S. , and also china and internationally and it just didnt work. Maria meanwhile, 2020 in focus. Whats your take on this. We have new fox news polls this morning, they show former Vice President joe biden is in the lead among democratic primary voters ahead of Senators Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders. In head to head matc matchups at President Trump, the major democrats lead. Except for pete buttigieg. My takeaway from this, i like to look at the tracking and momentum. You see Elizabeth Warren picking up steam, mayor pete is picking up steam. Biden is on the decline. When you look at who was winning at different points in the election in the past, Hillary Clinton in 2008 was winning by a landslide against barack obama and he still ended up being the candidate. At this point what i like to do is the energy and momentum, i think that the momentum is with Elizabeth Warren, its not necessarily with joe biden. That doesnt mean he cant pull it out. Thats what im looking at. The head to head against the president , this is something that to me is very, very important and a lot of people are saying its not. This is about his popularity. This is about Peoples Trust of him and this is not necessarily about any one of these candidates being the one that wins. To me this is saying the president is not in a good position right now. Were seeing this in the lateest fox polling about support for impeachment. Weve got a long time to go here but i think its important to understand that people are questioning him and more likely to support sort of an amorphous candidate. Maria who is going to beat him in the lineup. I had an interesting conversation yesterday with steve ban non, former white house strategist for President Trump during the 2016 election listen to what he said in terms of the current lineup and who he is expecting to enter. I think that bloomburg and clinton are still there as bidens in fourth in iowa, hes in second in new hampshire, i think dropping to third. Hes losing steam everywhere. Maria you think Michael Bloomburg or Hillary Clinton will enter the race . I think theyre the two best representatives of what goes for today the centrist of the democratic party. I think the centrists are going to have a vote and theyre going to look and say bloomburg or clinton are the best shots weve got. Maria can they beat donald trump . No. The only person that can beat donald trump. Theres not a candidate out there that can defeat donald trump. Maria there you go. And yet these polls Say Something different. I dont know if im buying the polls. Im not sure. I dont think that Hillary Clinton is going to run. Maria it would be extraordinary. It would be extraordinary and dehughesal. I dont think she delusional. I dont think she would do that. I think bloomburg, maybe. I dont know what they would hope to gain. What that will do is split the vote and end up having trump go all the way. I think right now the candidate that i am most focused on and i think that the president should be most worried about is Elizabeth Warren. Now, while so many of us are picking apart her policies and so many people are looking at it and saying how will she pay for it, the American People are looking at the policies and saying you know, she will do something about issues that are most important to us. Shes got a healthcare plan. The republicans failed on that. Thats why the democrats won in the midterm. Shes got momentum, a message and excitement right now. I think thats the one to watch out for. Maria here are some of the taxes had that Elizabeth Warren has proposed to pay for the medicare for all which is 52 trillion or something. An untray millionaires tax, an excessive lobbying tax, increase in Social Security contributions for the top 2 , roll back of tax kits and jobs act, increase tax rates to gun manufacturers, increased accountability for equity firms, moving contractors to net zero emissions. All of the taxes is something shes campaigning on. The thing i find so alarming about this, something we have to remember, is depending on the poll you look at, he three in five americans are supporting tax on the wealthy, taxing more on corporations, on private equity firms, on Financial Services firms. These kinds of taxes are very popular in order to pay for a benefit that they believe will benefit most americans. The biggest problem with healthcare is to say you know what, i agree that healthcare is broken but this is not the right way to go about it. People are disappointed they feel like theyre paying too much. Every year they get fewer benefits. Republicans have had a long time to figure it out and they havent. People are frustrated. When you say only the wealthy are going to pay the tax, only the billionaires will pay the tax and if you buy 100 shares of stock, youre paying tax. Exactly right. So that isnt really your 401k will take a hit. Maria you cant garner enough revenue by just taxing the rich. She knees t needs to admit thate class taxes are going up. When you talk about whats going to happen in the markets, the predictions on what would happen in the markets if Elizabeth Warren is president , you know this better than i do, its terrifying. The other element is the 2 Million People who work in private healthcare insurance industry, what happens to them and what does that do to the economy when you put 2 Million People out of work. Maria she said well, they can get a job in Life Insurance or Car Insurance or auto insurance. Thats the same thing, by the way, that she said. As if its another category. Its got investorss attention. Healthcare sector is up 9 . The market is up 20 . Most sectors are doing great. Healthcare has lagged, probably for this issue. Maria investors figure this out and move on. First, were going to take a break and get back to the hong kong violence. Can you fix the homeless crisis in San Francisco . I think thats a bigger question than just throwing money at the. Maria sure is. Were going to talk about that more. Cheryl, thank you. Were looking at new records at the opening of trading this morning. Dow futures up 133 points right now, s p up 15, nasdaq up 51. It is another big week of earnings. Under armour reporting later this hour. Uber, disney and cvs reporting later this week. Joining us right now is director of strategy and market analyst, Francis Newton stacy. Good to see you. Thank you for having me. Maria characterize the Third Quarter earnings season so far from your standpoint and what has been the impact on your investing strategy . Hel well, Third Quarter cery surprised for me. I thought the decline in earnings was going to be much greater than it actually turned out to be and about 75 of the Companies Beat expectations, though in some cases they were lowered expectations. I think right now theres sort of this hem and haw between are earnings decelerating, is the economy decelerating or is it just trade Uncertain Times thats why i think the market remains higher in the face of an upcoming trade deal. Maria you think well get a trade deal . I think we will get a trade deal. I think both countries are done with their titfortat and theyre getting serious, knowing that both economies will suffer greatly and maybe maybe irreb y if they dont do a deal. When you listen to earnings calls and guidance from companies, did you hear anything that earnings would turn positive, year over year growth and what did they say about 2020 in. 2020 . Not particularly. I think for 2020 what ive been getting is expectations are lowered a little further. Its just how much further and i think theres a propensity to blame the lowered earnings on the trade uncertainty. So i think from the Market Pricing perspective, as long as they think that were going to get more trade certainty, theyre not going to worry about the deceleration in earnings. Plus, weve had a lot of stock buybacks, a lot of aggressive costcutting, weve had a lot of things supporting the earnings prices right here. How successful will that be remains to be seen. How contagious the Global Growth moving lower remains to be seen. So i dont know. I expect a little bit more of a drop in 2020 as i think theres a lag even after this trade deal is finished. When you look at earnings, francis, the s p 500, its going to be pretty much flat, slightly down Fourth Quarter. 2020 up 9 . So strategists looking at the market thinking of earnings for next year, even though managements are not giving guidance until early next year, looks to be positive and that from a fundamental standpoint could be the positive thing to look for in the market on fundamentals. Yes. I think what we have to do is put this china trade deal, whatevers going to occur with it, in the rear view mirror. Ive long held the stance that it is holding the markets up. Nobody wants to be short in front of a deal. If the vics can stay below 12 andahalf, that supports positive earnings Going Forward. As youre saying, theyre not saying many of the reports ive read is some estimates think theyre going to continue to decelerate. Theres a lot of uncertainty in that area. But i think once we put the china trade deal behind us, were going to return to a valuation based more on earnings and more on the economic data. Its really interesting that the markets shrugged off the manufacturing number last week when that was the number that sent the markets reeling octobe. That tells me theres a lot of focus on the trade deal. Maria i just dont know how much information we actually have in terms of the realistic deal and the path forward. I mean, Chinas Foreign Ministry said today chinese president xijinping and President Trump are in continuous touch as both countries work towards signing a deal. Then wilbur ross said phase one deal is very far along after meeting with Chinese Government officials today. However, you saw the chinese push back on buying as much as the Agricultural Products that the u. S. Has said they would buy, 40 billion or around that neighborhood, so its sort of like were following the bouncing ball of every development here and the markets are trading on it. Do you expect that kind of l volatility to continue until we actually have a deal in place . Well, i think that theres going to be muted volatility as far as the vics index is concerned. I dont think anybody wants to be short, particularly when the headlines are increasingly positive, when compared to a few months ago when there wasnt any real discussion. I dont know exactly how its going to turn out or if china is going to follow the deal, if we get a deal. I do know a deal is going to be positive for markets. I agree, theres a lot of uncertainty still. One thing both administrations have learned is if they make negative comments about each other the markets sell off. I dont think either one of them actually wants that. So i think thats interesting. Is there im curious, this is lee carter. Im curious what kind of deal is going to cause the markets to change. If its a deal thats not complete, if we dont have ip, if we dont have some of they things that are most important, is that going to be enough . Are the markets going to he react if its not a good enough deal. I think markets try to price things in ahead of time. Surprise the things that markets react to. If we expect a part one deal to be a partial deal, i dont know how much of a surprise will exist there. I think a part one deal is progress. I think the china trade deal is actually mostly i think priced into the market. I think well see an uptick in the announcement. I think were pricing that in ahead of time as markets so often do and its funny base sometimes market price in good news so far ahead of time and the news comes out and the march cets take their profits which markets take their profits which is confusing. Im confident were going to get a part one trade deal. I dont know if chinas going to follow it exactly as we expect. But i think that the news of getting a trade deal will quell some of the uncertainty around trade and i think its going be good for markets. Maria would you buy the saudi aramco ipo. Finally theyre launching the ipo yesterday, hoping to list shares domestically first before attempting an international offering. Is this a deal that you would want to buy into in. I would not buy yet. Im not really much of an ipo person myself. I like to kind of watch it and see how it trades and i like tech any l call analysis. You i technical analysis. I like to see how it trades before i jump in and you look at the market in general. Exxon mobil is really generally very down. Chevrons done a little better, its a little higher. Oils dropped 13 over the last 12 months. So you kind of look at those other factors that could affect that price. Also, theres some questions around the valuation, os opposed to other ipos that have come out this year, it is a profitable company. That may garner some excitement. The overall sector has to do better before ill get excited about that one. Maria well see if they follow through and list in the u. S. There is a worry there will be lots of lawsuits from 9 11 victims if they launch that deal at the New York Stock Exchange down on wall street. Well see about that. Francis, thank you. Good to see you. Thank you. Great to see you. Maria Francis Newton stacy joining us there. Under investigation, federal authorities looking at under armours Accounting Practices. On the east coast, mcdonalds ceo is out, steve fired for having a relationship with employee, stock is down almost 3 on mcdonalds share, thats not hurting the rest of the market, take a look at futures, gain of triple digits, looking like another recordsetting day, 27387, s p is up 15 and nasdaq up 48 points. Look at nasdaq, 8208 on nasdaq, after the end of weak rally, strong jobs report, optimism over u. S. China trade deal, new record highs, the dow was just 12 points away from alltime close, wow, record performance there, Global Market this is morning looked like, this european indices are higher as well, brexit drama this morning, Construction Activity shrank in a row. 81 points, better than 1er, cac quarante in paris up 67 and dax index in germany higher by quarter percent, markets rallied overnight in asia, feeling some optimism, japan is closed for holiday overnight as you can see there, then theres this, under armour under investigation, federal probe of Accounting Practices, how it recorded sales, the stock is plummeting now down almost 19 , lows of the morning, the company will be reporting thirdquarter earnings later this hour, we will record the numbers and see if its having impact, pushing stock down 18 . Well, winning streak is over, Baltimore Ravens putting the brakes on new englands perfect season, highlights from exciting weekend and football coming up, plus, it is back, popeyes chicken sandwich returns and so do long lines, people waiting hours for a chance to buy the chicken sandwich, whats all the fuzz, we will tell you about it . The impeachment inquiry continues, four white house officials schedule today testify will be noshows today this as calls to release transcripts to have investigation to the public continue, the whistleblower meanwhile has offered to answer questions through written statements on sunday morning futures i spoke with house judiciary chairman jim jordan. What is going to happen with john brennan as we await for the ig report and the john durham criminal investigation . 6 weeks ago adam schiff said we need to hear from the whistleblower, we need to have him come testify, that would be good because we need to evaluate credibility, now he says we dont need to hear from the whistleblower, what happened during that time frame that changed the chairmans mind . Only one thing, we learned that adam schiffs staff had met with the whistleblower and adam schiff didnt tell us, we also learned that the whistleblower didnt communicate that even though the form you need to fill out, the whistleblower didnt communicate that he talked with people on capitol hill, mainly adam schiffs staff, they have the right to know and what the democrats are doing. Maria trip Scott Law Firm ceo, ed, ed, good to see you this morning. Assess the impeachment inquiry as you know it, what strikes you . Well, what needs to be understood is that american juries prudence doesnt allow for somebody to determine a predetermined result and then figure out how to figure out, what facts fit in with the result and so what you have, you have democrats since the day donald trump got elected tried to look for narrative that is fit a way to remove him or impeach him from office and honestly, the American Election process and juries prudence, this is totally backwards, facts lead you to result not a result finding facts, thats what we have here. Maria theyve got their guy, now they have to find the crime, they have their guy, they will find something, thats what they are doing. In terms of the process, all of this criticism about the process being behind closed doors, do you think thats going to change . Lee, the democrats say they will go public at some point, are we going to get transcripts of people who have testified, should we be upset that white house officials are saying we are not going because the process is a sham . I think that the American People are split on this, a lot of people are glad that the president is standing up and everybody else saying that they have something to hide and the polling look like more people are starting to favor impeachment. Its difficult position for the administration to be in, they need to be frankly, theres got to be some better messaging from the white house, i dont think they have done the best job, obviously they are under a lot of attack, and difficult situation to be in. Partisan nature impeachment in the basement of the capitol trying to remove a president thats been dually elected, that should be concerning to the aclu and concerning to civil rights people, this is the most basic principle in americas juries prudence and we have impeachment process and should be open for people to judge the credibility of the witnesses, so all we are hearing selective leaks coming out of this basement room hearings and so, of course, Public Opinion is swayed because thats the only thing they are hearing. Maria i think the public is onto this and thats the reason that nancy pelosi eventually we will take this public, she knows its not helping her, its not helping her cause by the constant drum beat of criticism as youre doing this in secret. I dont think that she think that is the whole impeachment process is good for democrats in 2020, ultimately this could be very discharging depending on the outcome. A lot of people who say out there this isnt necessarily illegal what he has done f this is an issue, change your vote in 2020. Maria exactly go, vote if you want him out, but let me ask about the exodus of hightaxed states going to lowtaxed states, President Trump became one of them, hes leaving new york and he will instead claim residency in florida, doing so because of political differences and taxes, florida has no state income tax, Many Americans havent relocate to go save money, how significant is this . Very significant and lets face it sunshine, freedom and opportunity, why wouldnt everybody move to florida . Maria and no tax. Clearly, whats the thing, lets make sure and ive written about this for fox, lets make sure you leave your liberal policies at the door when you get to florida, because over 20year period, florida has been under a nice conservative policy approach and good policies matter in state government, we have a Governor Desantis now who is at 72 approval rating. Maria 72 . 72 and the reason is because the reasonable government, we have educational choice options, the best state and University System in the country, economic opportunity, lowtax burden and honesty, reasonable Regulatory Environment around the economy and i think thats what is drawing businesses and people to florida, just not maria wow. I love the move by the president , i think its so smart. A lot of people saying him picking up votes in florida, i think the president understands it is power of symbolic gesture, hes changing residents, democrats policy, too many taxes, im going to florida, look at the growth in florida, tax level and now we are having a conversation of republican policies and democrat policies. Maria andrew cuomo saying good stick it to you, you didnt pay taxes in the first place, trying to make a joke of it. Andrew cuomo has a major problem, bigpocketed people leaving new york. Maria, more importantly, i have neighbors of mine who have families have from cuba and venezuela and they dont want big part of socialist government, they want to be free and have an opportunity to make a better life for their kids than they had, i think thats the American Dream and living in south florida that you actually see it, miami was once a southern town and now a huge blooming city and its all about freedom and opportunity. Everybody looks at the big cities, orlandos population is growing more than you can imagine and getting younger, a lot going on in the state of florida. Maria be careful to vote in San Francisco, youll be stepping on poop every other step and the needles, im not kidding. [laughter] terrible. Maria sad situation what has taken place. Good policies matter. Maria ed, great to see you. You want to see the math, okay, i will show you, look at this. Yeah. [cheers and applause] so you understand this . Do i. I could explain it to you but youd die. Maria mocking over the massive cost of medicare for all plan, joining us right now radio host saturday night live cast member, joe, good to see you this morning, i have to thank you for your congratulations to me at the National Italian American Foundation gala on saturday night, thank you, my friend. Congratulations, i know we have to talk about snl, but i have to tell you, i was with my mom telling you how much i appreciate you, Maria Bartiromo, what a great example for the Italian American women and working women all around the world because i did the video for sorento in italy, everybody stop, i have to talk to maria. [laughter] and giuliani sent it to me with lovely wife and i saw it, i wanted to say, this is what got me, forgive me for jumping you got up for sunday morning futures, did you get any sleep . Maria i had daylight savings time and an extra hour, so that helped a lot. [laughter] you were great. Thank you. The show was great. Maria so proud of you. I was grateful to see the video at the gala, lets talk about snl. Kate was so funny as Elizabeth Warren, tell us what you thought about saturday night live . Thank you, i saw the dialogue that she had, kate had, she has to win emmy for that performance alone, great Elizabeth Warren, i always joked that Elizabeth Warren is so hyper and reminds me of female jerry lewis, ladies, shes always so excited, her hands like shes going to take off. Kate nailed it, the dialogue for a cold opening, i didnt see her look at the cards, so technically im looking not only with that, it was written brilliantly and after you and i Start Talking about snl, maria, i dont know if they are listening to mornings with maria but the whole show is funny. It was right on the money, whoever wrote the sketch was great and brilliantly performed and shoutout to kate, all the dialogue, no cue card, she totally nailed it but the whole rest of the show, i think people are tired of the whole impeachment witch hunt and after the Mueller Probe people are saying, lets laugh and having fun. Maria we need comedy. Hi, guys. Maria snl also took a shot at existing Health Care System in the United States compared to relationship. My Health Insurance isnt perfect but with your plan i have to give it up and that makes me nervous. You know what, i hear this from a lot of people and let me help you understand, your insurance is like a bad boyfriend, girl, listen to me, you need to leave him. Hes draining you, you deserve better, dump crying crying i know, youre right. [laughter] maria what about that . Right on the money, on the money, they are not addressing health care and, you know, kudos to writers at snl and big shoutout to kate, did you see the dog press conference. [laughter] they had a live sherman shepherd. He was barking in the podium. They had a soldier come out and say, anybody want to talk to me and the press didnt say anything. [laughter] i tell you it was a brilliant funny show. Maria when you see it on snl, lee, that mean its touched a nerve for broad america, right . Thats the pulse of the people, i think, in many ways, what i think is interesting, though, they understand how deeply they impact the election and our perception of them, i think they very careful about how they are portrayed. Have a wonderful day, my friend. Congratulations, i love you, match. Maria i love you, under armour earnings out and better than expected, we will be right back. Tell your doctor about any changes in medicines youre taking. The most common side effects are swelling of the arms and legs and confusion. We spoke up and it made all the difference. Ask your parkinsons specialist about nuplazid. Maria we have a fox business alert. Under armour reporting quarterly earnings. It looks like a better than expected quarter. Thats not helping the stock. Lauren the stock is under pressure, down almost 16 in the premarket because the company just disclosed this Justice Department and sec investigation over the past two plus years into their Accounting Practices but they did just report numbers for their latest quarter and a double beat. Earnings per share coming in at 23cents, better than the 18 accident18cents, thats was exp. A positive and a negative for you. They raised their full year eps to the high end of the range, thats for the full year. But then they lowered their full Year Revenue Guidance to 2 growth for the full year. Where they were previously expected 3 to 4 growth. They are struggling in north america. Their ceo will step down in january as they try to reinvent themselves as a performance brand, particularly right here in north america. Stock down 14 now, maria. Maria thank you. It is certainly off of the lows, down about 18 earlier. A little off of the lows on the earnings numbers use heard. Theres a shakeup at mcdonalds going on. They fired the ceo, amid consensual relationship with an employee. Grady trimble is live in chicago with more on a that. Reporter mcdonalds conducted an investigation and what they found is that easterbrook had a consensual he relationship with a current employee and that violated company policy. The company says that easterbrook demonstrated poor judgment by having that relationship but when we asked for further details about what the relationship was, they declined to comment. An attorney for easterbrook also declined to comment any further on the relationship, only offering this statement. Mr. Easterbrook acknowledges his error in judgment and supports the companys decision. He will not be commenting further at this time. Its important to note, shares doubled under easterbrook since he took over as ceo, back in 2015, so its been a decent five years for mcdonalds but the past few months have shown some signs of trouble, most recently shares dropped as much as 10 in the Third Quarter, mcdonalds reported earnings that were far less than what analysts had expected. And when they announced the resignation and the departure of easterbrook, mcdonalds also quickly announced his replacement, chris kamshinski. He as takes over at a time where the company is facing struggles as we mentioned including takinr traffic in the stores and competition because people are seeking healthier options for food and theres delivery that mcdonalds has had to contend with as well. Maria grady, thank you so much. Joining us right now is the morning show equity strategist, rjhotnevie. Thank you for joining us. Thank you. Maria so in terms of the mcdonalds story, this is a separate story, mcdonalds specific, not really impacting the broader averages this morning. Were looking at a triple digit rally today. How would you assess nature gets this morning, given the backdrop you see . On the markets itself, i dont think mcdonalds itself, any kind of pressure here is going to have a major impact on the markets itself here. In my mind, while its a surprise, ceos are stepping down, i think chris is the great leader to follow him here. I dont think it will have an ill pact on the broader markets this morning. Didnt look like it was down too much this morning, overall were looking pretty sound based on mcdonalds alone. Maria tell us about mcdonalds and what this mean. Ken leon made the point that this has been a real good story under easterbrook, right . I mean, hes been riding high with his strategy, really affecting the growth story at mcdonalds. So what happens now . Yeah, i think you got it right. I think when easterbrook came aboard, his main task was reyou reigniting growth. A lot of that was bringing in outside talent. I think easterbrook and kapinski coauthored the growth plan that they em barkethe embarked on. These are important things that effectively table stakes in the restaurant industry, that changed the image of the mcdonalds brand. Now its going whats next in the future. I think chris has done a good job particularly in the us where the bulk of the turnaround initiatives have taken place. They brought on fresh beef. I think they will focus on reinventing the drivethrough. I think thats what you should be looking for at mcdonalds is a continuation of the initiatives they had and hopefully a reacsilacceleration. I think youre going to see a payoff in 2020. Rj, ken leon. Is there anything innovation that can drive growth, the shopping experience. We noted theyre putting in selfkiosks, so you dont have to wait 30 minutes to order a burger. I think the real innovation is going to p come through the drivethrough. Thats where 70 of mcdonalds u. S. Transactions come through. We havent seen true innovation on that front in some time. Somebodys made two acquisitions on that front this year, one called dynamic yield, a predictive ordering platform so you go through the drivethrough and it will try to match, based on your previous orders, what you might be interested in for an additional order. And a company thats more of a voice 0rdin ordering system. This could streamline the ordering process as well as maybe increase the average particularrest. That will be an important endeavor, changing the drivethrough. It will be one of the key things to judge chris tenure on as it starts out here. This is going to be a story of just driving growth through same stores versus more franchises . Yeah, i dont think were going to see much in the way offed additional franchises. Youre probably talking about low single digit unit growth in the u. S. Whats interesting about the Technology Initiatives is that you might start to see a change in the layout of mcdonalds. Theyre opportunity to open up smaller format or delivery centers. Theres some real opportunity for this company to maybe change the layout. I dont think youre going to see high unit growth but maybe get better productivity out of existing stores and augment it with new formats. Maria you mentioned softer sales. You had softer Industry Trends in terms of comp store sales. Is that reflective of mcdonalds or the broader backdrop that youre seeing a slowdown in retail . Its a broader backdrop. If you look across the restaurant space, weve been running low single digit negative traffic for about two years. Mcdonalds is at the high end of that range, right around flat for the last you fe few quarter, driving most of the same store sales through average ticket price, both menu price increase as well as larger order sizes through some of the delivery and other initiatives. Thats the key, reigniting growth on the traffic level. What youre going to start to see is new innovation, i know the companys looking at the chicken sandwich wars we had this summer, looking to make an introduction into that at some point. The delivery options are out there and the drivethrough, those are the key. One of the things thats fascinating, were looking at Product Innovation and what people arent talking about is reputational lift. I think mcdonalds has a problem with the reputation. You look at the popular things out there, shake shack and some other things, people dont feel like thats as unhealthy, thats an indulgence but people look at mcdonalds is a terrible thing. Dont you think they need to invest in some reputation. I think thats right. I think they had started to improve the reputation through steve. That was one of the things that maybe the company lost its way a little bit, the reputation and the brand per session. I think theyve done perception. I think theyve done that. Making it a more modern company, thats a starting point. I think they need the menu innovation side, the fresh beef and other things theyre working on, thats what theyre working on. They talked about plant based proteins and getting into that game. The size and scale makes it difficult to roll it out in a timely fashion of. That will be the next step, on the menu innovation side. I think chris was one of the key people behind the fresh beef launch in the us. I think he understands that. Maria would you buy this stock, bottom line . Yeah, on a dip today, i would absolutely buy the stock today. We have a 250 fair value estimate. Looks great from here. Maria great to have you. Thanks so much. Coming up, u. S. Secretary of the army, Ryan Mccarthy is here. Talking about these new fox polls on troops in syria. The online lodging company banning socalled party houses after five people were shot and killed on halloween in a house that was rented specifically for a party. They want to reassure travelers that the planes are safe. They plan to conduct test flights with senior officials onboard to get that message across. They are looking to approve new Pilot Training plans in the next few weeks. Homeowners are staying put. A new ana analysis by red fin ss that homeowners are remaining in their homes typically 13 years, five years longer than they did in 2010. Thats keeping a glut of Housing Inventory off the market and helps explain why home sales have been sputtering. Luckily youre sitting next to a housing expert so ill let you take it from here. Maria what do you say. I said it so many times, but you cant buy a house that is not for sale. And thats the big issue. Theres an inventory shortage in the Housing Market. There are young people who are forming households, they want to buy homes. They cant buy them because theyre not on the market. Maria you know what i think is an incredible story, we did it last week, was in the next 10 years theres going to be this wealth transfer from baby boomer parents to their millennial kids and not just millennials but the next generation and 68 trillion is being transferred from baby boomers to their kids as the baby boomers either die off or leave inheritance. Whats that going to do to the Housing Market . Are they going to use that money to buy homes . Is that going to give us a huge boost . I did that segment with lauren and cheryl on fbn a. M. Last week. I di bunked that a little debunked that a little bit. What everyone is for getting how long the baby boomer generation will live and what the cost will be for healthcare. They may be spending that wealth and not transferring it as much. Theyre not selling the homes. I dont think the wealth transfer will happen as quick as people think. Maria do you think home prices will continue to go down . One of the issues is that the home price is not acs accessiblo people. What about the pricing . The challenge with housing is the cost to build a a new home. People are not selling homes because theyre holding onto them. The cost of entry is very high. We dont have enough supply. When you have demand which we do and you dont have enough supply, prices go up. So existing home supplies, 5 million, used to be 12 million before the financial crisis. Maria 5 mill i dont kno 5 mm 12 million. You dont have the afford ability. Prices are still tough. The availability where you work, its going to its happening but its l almost like a five, seven year delay to having an enormous upsell in terms of housing. Maria quick break and then americans view on impeachment. We have a new fox news poll shedding light on where the country stands on all of this. Marathon recovery, fox business Cheryl Casone was one of thousand whose ran the new York City Marathon yesterday. She is amazing how she is recovering, coming up. Well tell you all about it. Stay with us. Take you for a ride on my big dream tractor. We can go slow or make it go faster. Down through the woods and out through the pasture. As long as im with you it really dont matter maria welcome back. Now the impeachment inquiry, where it stands, a lawyer representing the whistleblower says theyre open to answering hes questions from the gop in writing. A new fox news poll shows 49 of voters want President Trump impeached and removed from office. I spoke with former chief strategist steve bannon on sunday morning futures, he joined me yesterday to discuss the inquiry. This is all about a policy debate about America First National Security policy and its unconstitutional as david rifkin laid out in the wall street journal op ed. What the American People are going to come to this. Theyre going to be the jury. The American People will weigh in here. Theyre going to demand i think, no matter what games the democrats play, about who the witnesses are, theyre going to demand ive got to tell you. I think two witnesses that have to be called are hunter biden and joe biden. Maria joining me right now is editorial director, hugo girden. Its always pleasure. Thank you for joining us. Your reaction to steve ban don nononthere and assess where we n the inquiry. I think the 49 is kind of interesting. The fall from 51 to 49 is all due to republicans who had thought, hmm, this really looks bad to a fewer of them now, thinking it looks bad for President Trump. Thats because there are holes that are being punched in what the whistleblower has said. First of all, there are some factual errors. We know as a small factual error, he didnt know who was on the call. He said someone was on who was not. A bigger factor, he said that President Trump asked for the dnc server which he didnt. And the biggest thing, however, is if you look at what the whistleblower said, its all interpretive. It said he was asking the president of ukraine to interfere in the 2020 election. Thats just his interpretation. People want to really look into who the whistleblower is. And thats why written testimony no doubt written by his lawyers would not passion the laugh test. Maria its interesting, i mean, why not just testify . They want to answer it in written form. But theres all sorts of questions around the whistleblower now because while were not revealing what seems to be who he is and what his name is, it appears that he did work for joe biden, he worked at the white house and he worked for john brennan at the cia and perhaps one of those people were dropping the bread crumbs of the collusion narrative. Yeah, no, all of thats absolutely true, maria. It was the Washington Examiner who said that he was he worked for joe biden. And its absolutely the case that there are a number of reasons why you would want to interview him, want to crossexamine him and you cant do that if hes allowed to answer in writing. Youve got to have the republicans able to say to crossexamine him and say and pick holes in what he said. There is every reason to believe that he was obviously in touch with the intelligence commit you acommittee, with schiff before hd his evidence, before he made his whistleblower complaint and the republicans are absolutely right to want to say okay, what exactly went on before you made the complaint and who were you working for before and whats the origins of all this. Maria as we continue sort of peeling back the onion on what took place and how donald trump was inserted into the russia collusion narrative, were looking at the origins of the russia probe. I turned to following the money. I want to ask you about Stefan Halper. He was paid almost well, more than 1 million over a years time between 2015 and 2016, he was paid 1 million for various studies that the pentagon had asked him to report on. One of them was in september of 2016, when he was paid 250,000 to do a study on china and russia and then within a year later, he was paid another 411,000 to do a study on china and chinas economy. So over a years time he made 1 million doing these studies. He never went to china. He never went to russia. Yet, he kept turning up at conferences where trump staffers were at and it looks lik like entrapment to me. Was he the mastermind in terms of directing the informants . I dont know if he was a mastermind but hes a very interesting character. Its interesting to note that 18 months ago when he was being talked about, Intelligence Community officials were saying that he must not be named because it would put his life in danger, it would endanger him. Thats the same stuff theyre saying about the whistleblower. 18 months later, absolutely nothing has happened to Stefan Halper. Hes perfectly fine. Yeah, he was obviously he met with carter page, he was in contact with car per page who was in contact with papadopoulos. One of the things that william barr is looking into is if the Intelligence Community really thought this was a grave threat that the russia collusion was a grave threat to the republic, how come they were working in this sort of limited way through this shady academic who was at cambridge, why wouldnt it a bigger operation. Thats the sort of thing that points to the possibility that, you know, this was a kind of there was something n nefarious going on and Stefan Halper was at the center of it. Maria he was paid all this money t make reports on china. He never went to china. He was in london, running into papadopoulos. But where are these reports on china and i mean, this does connect the dots, lee, in materials of the whistleblower and whats happened with this ukraine phone call because i mean, ive been questioning, whats wrong with the president asking the president of ukraine where did this information come from . Given the fact that the origins of the nonsense in the dossier started in ukraine. I think thats why for many people its not surprising that he asked that question. A lot of people say maria so what. So what. I think thats the question the American People need to answer. So what. Is this maria were looking at the money that halper made. He made 411 million on top of 250,000 in 2015. These are big numbers, lee, to be taking home this kind of pavemen. Pay. It its actually more than 1 million, paid from the office of net assessments. Its big money and i think that people should be asking these questions. But i think its a very complicated story so i think it needs to be simplified for folks, not that people dont understand it, its that this is really complicated and people dont have the time. A lot of things are easier to understand more quickly. This is one of those things, simplify the message, help people understand it because this things dont add up. Theres a lot of questions that people should be having right now. Maria in terms of the origin of the russia probe. Back to impeachment, do you think the president will be removed from office . No, i think thats absolutely extremely unlikely. I expect he will be impeached. The republicans are absolutely not theyre in lockstep, not just because theyre on his side but because there are all sorts of shady things going on. Its very, very suspicious. The democrats want to keep things as much under cover and do thing as little in the open as possible. And so there is a battle going on for Public Opinion and i think that the democrats are doing things in a way which is going to lose it and the republicans are not going to have much trouble in siding with the president and acquitting him in the senate. Maria well be watching. Thanks so much. Well take a break. When we come back, the mesh military in focus. Ill speak with the u. S. Austins homeless crisis in focus, Texas Governor greg abbott is stepping in and addressing the growing problem. First, our top story this half hour, middle east tensions, a new fox news poll shows 69 of voters want some u. S. Troops to stay in syria while 22 say they want to leave all of them all of them leave the region completely. Joining me now is the secretary of the United States r arrest you my, Ryan Mccarthy. United states army, Ryan Mccarthy. Thank you so much for joining me. Thanks, maria. Sorry i couldnt join you in the studio. Maria i want to give you a huge shoutout and your team at the army a huge congratulations, the army was the group that was responsible for the raid that killed albaghdadi, the most wanted man so far. So we congratulate you and your troops at the army for an incredible job. The courage that you exhibit every day. Remarkable performance by special operations community. Clearly, the death of baghdadi is a major disruption in the isis network. Were keeping our eye on the l ball and maintaining our pursuit of that threat for months to come. Maria what an operation, right . It was delta tier 1 force. I know the delta force is sort of similar to seal team 6 on the other side in the navy. The rangers were on the ground. It was so wellcoordinated. I know you cant say much about this operation but what can you tell us in terms of the coordination of all of these groups . Maria, since october 7th of 2001, u. S. Army special operations have been deployed every single day in pursuit of not only extremist operations, theyre the best in the world and they show it every day. The albaghdadi raid is one among many. Remarkable performance by the tip of the spear, theyre our very best. Maria thats terrific. Let me ask you about that, in terms of the readiness, where you are. I know the army was really beaten down when you look at sequestration, when you look at the decline in terms of defense spending. Now were looking at increases for the last three budgets. But how would you characterize right now the readiness of the army as you try to also invest in new technologies. So youve got the readiness to focus on, but also the investing and trying to come up with new technologies to improve the force. Maria, great question. For the last three years, weve been digging out of a trough from a readiness standpoint of the force. When we entered office three years ago, there were two brigade combat teams at the highest levels of readiness. Today were north of 25. So from that standpoint, remarkable a turnaround. Its as much funding as it is the incredible laser he focus 06 the leadership by people. If you look at the way they executed their training plans, the precision, the attention to detail, it was as much leadership as you it was funding. Those are two key variables in order to be successful. From a modernization standpoint, we have a strategies thats been blessed by the congress, a fiscal increase from the 1819 budget. What were concerned about is aa force is this thi fiscal situat, of a continuing resolution, were on day 33, we dont have a budget deal in place. The army created many tremendous momentum from readiness as well as modernization efforts and its in jeopardy of stalling out. Maria im glad you mentioned that. Im glad a that you mentioned general mille. He went before mccains committee a couple years ago and said at that time the army is at risk of not winning a war against china or russia, should we come to that. Then you had add initia add ad , saying theres no guarantee we could win a war with china. And thats living life under a constant continuing resolution, its like spending paycheck to paycheck and not having the readiness or the confidence. Where are you on that today . Where is the army on that today in terms of the potential for winning a war against china or russia . Well, if we were in a position today, we have significant gains and are in a he positioin aposition to put af resistance against any type of actions anywhere in the world. What i would say, it would come at a tremendous price in a fight against a competitor. We have to modernize our weapons systems. The key systems that are in our formation as are 45 years old. Were in the process of modernizing these weapons system so we can maintain the technological march in margin wo win in combat. Were two years in the effort. We have prototypes landing you across the investment portfolios that we will test very quickly but we need the two year budget deal in order to maintain that edge so we can win outright against any foe. Maria is the problem that the democrats dont want to agree to increases in the budget for defense spending because they dont like the fact that President Trump has taken some of that money for the wall and they wont approve the wall . Is that whats behind this . Does this go back to politics and the wall . Well, theres a couple issues related to budget negotiations. The wall would be one of them. Theres some other issues related to space force and a couple other issues on the agenda. Like all things, its a negotiation. And the more that the leadership between the two parties as well as the president talk, the better we are. And i know theyre talking right now. Were getting close to a deal. Maria secretary, let me ask you about the use of technology of we talked a lot about robotics and Artificial Intelligence on this program. I spoke with palmer lucky on the show last month. Heres his take on Artificial Intelligence and how its used in the military. Listen to this. The issue is, if china can have a. I. That basically tells the chinese our troop movement, our wweaponry movement, this speaks to the National Security we face as a result of china and its goals to get to become the largest super power. What we need to toys make sure we match to do is make sure we half and surpass china. The goal is not that we get into a huge conflict and we beat them, necessarily. Its to be so strong that they know they cant get into a conflict with us. In the same way that having a strong counter drone system deters people from even trying attack with you drones, having a strong Artificial Intelligence strategy counters the ability of people to use Artificial Intelligence to even contemplate attacking you. Maria so what does the new technology being used look like, secretary . Well, you mentioned a a. I. In your discussion there. I think thats a great point. The army has made a strategic decision to move all of our it systems to the cloud architecture. We have over 800 million across a five year future Defense Budget plan so we can have the data, standards and protocols, so we can shift a all of the different platforms together into the cloud so that we can maximize the speed and decision making. Thats as important for a business decision as of course it is in combat operations. Maria do you worry that china is ayou head of us on some of these things . What i mentioned with palmer lucky about a. I. Tools giving them a heads up in materials of our troop movement, for example. China has a National Effort related to Artificial Intelligence. Theres no doubt they moved out smartly. I remain kv p dent we can still confident we can still beat them to the punch because of the innovation, the brain matter is here in america. The best and brightest in the world are here. And the departments moving ahead with its Enterprise Architecture and all of the services are coming online. We have access to the best and brightest. China has to l come here in order to learn. Maria terrific. Okay. Lets talk about your new recruiting campaign. I know its coming out soon. Youre trying to appeal to younger americans. What can you tell us about it . Well, in fiscal year 18 that was tough for the us army. We missed by 6500 people in the active force for recruiting. This is the toughest environment weve ever faced in recruitment since 1969. That was an alldraft army. We changed our strategy to focus on 22 cities across the nation so we could have better better performance and demographics against all ethnicities. We changed the advertising firm, changed the leadership of the recruiting command. In particular, secretary hes e, mmyself, we got out there and we were recruiting kids from all over the country, meeting with schools and directors of parks and recreation. We needed civic involvement and to get the country behind us. We werent fighting for talent in the nation. With respect to the new recruiting campaign, were starting it over veterans day, called whats your warrior. How can you look at a comprehensive view of the 150 different operational specialities in the army, cyber, stem, medical, logistics, as well as combat operations, military specialities of combat operations, that young men and women can see their future, access to education and quite frankly an elevator to the middle class. Maria really fascinating. Well be watching. We want to see that new campaign coming out. Secretary, thank you so much for your Wonderful Service to our great country and all of your colleague as well. Youre welcome. Thanks for having me on. Maria come back soon, sir. Headlines across america this morning. The Houston Chronicle reports abbott deploys texas d. O. T. In austins homeless crisis for cleanups at sites that austin already cleans. State workers are cleaning homeless camps. They could be cleaned up to five times a month. This comes amid escalating frustration over a controversial june policy which allows people to camp out in most Public Places including sidewalks. The new york t post says nearly 900 city inmates may have been freed before bail reform law takes effect. At least one critic is charging new yorks mayor with rewarding criminals guilty of offenses like aggravated assault on a child under 11 and selling drugs on or near a school ground. The law goes into effect januar. It will be retroactive. The Los Angeles Times write as wildfires burn across california, President Trump lashes out at the state on twitter. The president again blaming state leaders for wildfire disasters. Experts say its not the case. President trump tweeted governor gavin ne newsom and adam schiff failed to properly manage the states forests. The whirs ar wildfires are saide under control. I want to the see what happens to new york over the next year given the fact that inmates have been released. Three quarters of inmates at Rikers Island will be released. This is the beginning with the 900 inmates being released in new york. You have to wonder what this means. They havent admitted this. This is a report. As mine has been a report. Theyre not admitting this. You have to expect this will have an impact. No question about it. Its the small crimes are on the rise in new york and other big cities, sort of broken windows crimes, this wont help the equation when you let more quote, unquote criminals out of incarceration. Maria if dagen were here, she would say police are not responding. Theyre getting water and milk thrown on their heads. Theyre not responding to the socalled petty crimes. What happens when the inmates are released into the population. Coming up, recovering from yesterdays new York City Marathon, how runners are recuperating the day after. And one startup right here in manhattan that we visited is going to help you today recover. The world of professional sports is tough on the bodies of athletes. A startup has the answer, technology. If youre constantly breaking your body around system down, youre not reaping all the benefits. So the gains arent made on the training floor or on the track. The gains are made when you recover from that exposure to the stress. The worlds First Comprehensive recovery studio, recover provides treatmentses backed by Research Conducted by harvard and nasa. I gave all of it a try. First, i tried the infrared sauna, a special sauna designed to repair the body from the inside, out, using heat conducted by infrared lights to, well, heal your muscles. 15 o150 farenheit, its mores comfortsable than a traditional sauna. New calm using meditation to provide your body with the equivalent of two to three hours of sleep in 30 minutes. My favorite, the air compression boost removes met woul met metae from the muscles. It is not just for athletes. Walking the streets of new york, your legs get beat up. So some people use it for athletic recovery. Some people its just my legs feel tired all the time. Finally, its time to heal my blood in the pressure chamber. Its called the cvac. It targets the cells in my bodies. These treatments are priced for anyone. You can spend 45 for the infrared sauna, 35 for new calm, 30 for the air compression massage and 50 to spend time in the cvac pod. All these treatments will have you up and running in no time. Cheryl so maria, anything for you. I will jump into something, i will but the recovery stuff is interesting because a lot of these professional athletes, tennis players, they swear by the cvac. The new calm, all the overnight producers wanted to hear about that. Youre in it for 30 minutes but your body thinks you got two hours of sleep. I went through all of this for fox business. Maria thats fantastic. Where is that . Looks like a spa. Cheryl its the first of its kind recovery center. Heres the marathon. Huge shoutout to nypd, new yorks finest, so many of them on the streets being so supportive, highfiving everybody and theres one of my best friends that ran it. Its the first of its kind studio, its here in new york with the recovery devices that you can run off. Usually they have them in physical theyre offices. The boots, a lot of my friends that go out and run are buying those, just as a recovery device to have at hole. It compresses your legs, it lets your legs loose and it moves all the blood around into your legs and that heals the muscles. You can have muscle pain for any reason, riding your bike, i mean maria right, right. Great stuff. Cheryl by the way, mitch and you were talking about this. Maria in third hour a market that is on fire, our top story this hour however is under armour under fire sliding after company disclosed officials look on the ground into Accounting Practices a spoke person said this, the Company Began responding to in july 2017, to requests for documents and information, relating primarily to Accounting Practices, the company firmly believers its accounting practitioners you disclosures appropriately better than expected on top and bob mueller earnings per share above estimates cutting expectations for the rest of the year judge Andrew Napolitano to take a look at this. Surprising that this criminal investigation, doj does going on 2 1 2 years, as the report just said that you read. I know nobody new about it. So the wall street journal broke the story, last night over or this morning, so what would doj be looking for . The doj would be looking for the inappropriately reporting of earnings, before the money is actually in. Before the money is even actually due in order to give an artificial picture of worth accounting fraud if anybody lost any money as a result of it then it rises to the level of a crime. You know, accountants are given a certain amount of leeway according do the general accounting principles. As to how they are going to record income could you to the company but if recording is done did he sdereceptionist people rely to detriment there is a crime i am surprised going on this among two ways to read this one no there there he they would have been found something looking at it 2 1 2 years the other is wow going deep into this company if still after 2 1 2 years, i dont know enough of the facts to predict when way it is going to go. A couple months ago the ceo was criticized for a friendship with a reporter, on msnbc i dont know if that has anything to do with sort of the negativity around this, but he had to explain why they were so close. I doubt the Justice Department is interested in that. And i dont know what explanations the report i dont know who person is probe somebody we know i dont know what person reported. Their Pr Department can say almost whatever they want the doj doesnt care about that. Maria this stock is falling out of bed. Now it is i know if because of the report this morning it may very well be. Nobody knew about investigation until yeah, they have an obligation, and to er report what they apparently did not make which is why we are startled to learn this goes back to july of 2017. If the feds come knocking at your door you are publicly traded to have you tell shareholders. Investigators questioned people in baltimore as recently as last week one of the people said in this the wall street journal report. Heating up, you know that means, maria, that feds have been looking at documents for two half years they have found enough in they documents to start asking people questions. Now they asked questions in two ways, if you when fbi comes calling if you agree to sxaek to them they will talk to you two fbi agents one witness sometimes the witnesses lawyer and fbi office. If you dont want to talk to them they will serve with you a grand jury subpoena, then federal prosecutors will interrogate you in secret in front of a grand jury, this sounds as though it is voluntary. This sounds as though witnesses have agreed to go in, means management knows about it and approved of it. They are is one of the questions, when examining what are known as revenue recognition practices, authorities generally focus on where the companys record revenue before it is actually earned. There you go. Before earned or defer dating of expenses to make earnings appear stronger you are recording that in books before earned our expectations that you are going to generate that. Some is lawful, if you are certain that it is coming in and you know when coming in you report that, some of it is not lawful if it is done to give an artificial view of the income or profit in a given quarter. Hmm. Sounds like looking at. Fuzzy math. What they are looking at is 2 1 2 years a long time for Something Like this. Yes. Unusual . Yes, very long time very unusual, if the risk of changing the conversation thank you Mueller Investigation was vent that long this is a very, very long unusual. Very long time to be looking at one company and now theyve started to interview people so i cant i cant put my finger on it doesnt look good. A situation where you dont know the end, you sell first and figure it out later what investors are doing this morning. Stock down 13 , thank you, judge andrew nba napolitano shares of mcdonalds as welcome that stock is lower after the firing of a ceo, jackie deanning a list on the floor of new york this morning with stories, the markets going to open big premarket down about 2 right now, that is going to shave some off dow would be higher, than where futures are pointing take a look at this mcdonalds removing ceo steve easter brooke he resigned after consensual relationship with employee was covered mcdonalds said that he that they conducted a thorough investigation, they being acted about quickly this was right thing to do at this point they didnt provide any other details about what kind of relationship this was, or what else happened. But when a we do know that the american president ial Chris Kempczinski 105 yea kempczins kempczinskik, 51 years old is taking over shares have almost doubled he was responsible for putting in a lot of programs, revising the business, the companies were recommend struggling one thing he did was implement the all kah Day Breakfast popular with consumers out there can when future of mcdonalds will be seems mr. Kempczinski is a very capable person would likely be able to lead but when you are a shareholder you look at Something Like that a Management Change especially when some won has been very successful never really positive but usually tends to work out we will ranch mcdonalds closely down here tie. Elizabeth warren releasing details of 5milliondollar medicare for all plan says 25. 5 trillion dollars new spending warren spoke about it in down hall in iowa yesterday watch. 2020 is our time in history. Our time to win the fight. For medicare for all save our people, our time to win the fight for a two cent wealth tax invest in an entire generation 2020 is our time. To dream big, to fight hard, and to win. Joining me right now Medicare Medicaid Services Administrator thanks for joining us. My pleasure thanks for having me. Elizabeth warrens medicare for all plan said to cost 52 trillion dollars. I know you cant really comment on Elizabeth Warrens plans but can you explain to us why medicare is so expensive. I think what we are hearing about these proposals that they are very expensive and going to increase taxes and that is going to have a downstream impact on jobs. The other thing that theyve been talking about with proposals in terms of financing them is cutting reimbursement to providers hospitals doctors going to have impact on access to care. Maria so what drives up the cost so much . Weve got medicare on the verge of going broke within next 12, to 15 years same thing with Social Security. You know, another thing, is right now, 180 Million People get their get their insurance from the private sector, Elizabeth Warren wants to do away with that 180 Million People like their insurance but she is going to do away to create medicare for all Government Program why so expensive . And what is your take on doing away with 180 Million Peoples health care. One of the reasons why i think health care has become so expensive is because of the role of government, in health care, a lot of policies government put in place is actually contributing to increased costs. If we look at primary care shortages look at drug spending, a lot of that is rooted in government policy, that is why i am so concerned as head of programs, i see the problems day in, day out created by government, that are actually increasing costs, and to have a complete government takeover, where washington is making decisions about our health care, is very concerning. Washington and Government Policies have not delivered look at obama care that was a government takeover of the individual market resulted in premiums going up by over 100 , so tell me what that looks like when government is in charge of making decisions, i mean you he run these programs, what does that look like in a practical basis for a person who needs an mri needs Cancer Treatment whatever it is, the government is going to make that decision . Well that is exactly some of the issues. One of the impacts that we know with governmentrun health care is the impact on he innovation, there are just a lot of of services that are not available in Medicare Program that are available in private sector. You know one area is diabetic the Medicare Program struggled providing latest technology to people in about Medicare Program the president medicare executive order is trying to reverse categorize on this, but the bottom line is the government has been very slow to keep up with the pace of innovation. And so if we are putting our entire Health Care System through government run program, he i think this is going to impact americas access to the latest, innovation in technology, lifesaving curious and treatment. Maria so this week kicks off with four of the medicare open enrollment, lasted until december 7 i know president signed an executive director to protect improve medicare for seniors where are we assess the situation, and when is the insolvency worry will the program go bankrupt. President very focused you saufdz protecting securing the Medicare Program because of his great leadership we have a wonderful story to tell on medicare, and Medicare Advantage it is open enrollment, and our seniors are seeing a 28 reduction in premiums since President Trump came into office, and in the Part D Program because of policies around drug pricing we are seeing 11 increase in some areas of the country, theyve been 15 drop, 25 drop in just one year. This is because of the president s commitment to the Medicare Program. Maria there are also new payment policies, that build on president s cut Red Tape Initiative tell me about that. That is right, as president has been focused on deregulating across the board cms we have patients over paperwork the speaks to our efforts to try to legislator the cost of health care, we are focused on solving the problems in the Health Care System not throwing more money to the government, to solve the problems. So we are focusing on decreasing regulatory burdens on doctors keeping them from spending time with patients, also focused on drug pricing focused on price transparency, we are focusing on measures that are going to power patients put them in charge of health care not the government. Maria i mean what do people need to know as we enter this week in terms of open enrollment we have new fox news polls show health care is top issue for voters going into 2020. Beating out the economy by just one point that is serious issue, for our viewers what can you tell them as we are vested in them to make sure they understand all issues around this during the open enrollment period. Open enrollment is a great opportunity to shop around for best because of the president prices lower, there are more choices of plans, and weve added more Supplemental Benefits so plans are offering new benefits going to help people stay healthy, in their homes, maybe they just need a ride to the doctors office, or ramp in their home to help go up and download stairs but the president has created policies, that provide more flexibility for health plans, so people are going to see during open enrollment more choices, legislator costs, and more benefits a great opportunity to shop around. Maria so why is Elizabeth Warren want to go release this plan that is going to cost 52 trillion dollars . What would 52 trilliondollar plan mean for the plans existence. I think what were talking about is a complete government takeover, getting rid of private Health Insurance, stripping 180 million americans of private Health Insurance, but the bigger issue is just an outsized role for government omnipotent unlimited role of government we want government to have a humble roam have patients doctors in control of making decisions about their health care. Yeah in other words, what usual saying if you have a decision to make, whether you need you know a test an mri, a cat scan whatever it is you have to get the approval of the government bureaucratic before getting that done. Takes so long to keep up with pace of innovation so putting health care in the hands of government, is going to have a major impact, on innovation, it is going to increase taxes, that is less jobs, and it is going to low hour rurment for provide rurm for front line decrease in access across the board. I glad you mentioned it the job situation other day, somebody asked list list what are you going to do with all jobs eliminated when you eliminate privateions, she said they wont work in that area but they can work in other areas of insurance, they can work in auto insurance, Car Insurance, Life Insurance that is what she said what do you think about that. Well i think all the economists know increasing taxes is going to have an impact on jobs, focus needs to be so having health care, not tlolg more government mon at problem we need to focus lowering the cost of health care whether addressing driving spending whether it is providing more transportation in prooigz to lower cost of health care so more people can have access we will leave it there thanks very much accord insights on this, coming up spotlight on swing statesa live to battleground state pennsylvania where economy could be deciding factor in 2020 we are one year away from the president ial race almost to the day, then trouble for tik tok u. They called these states pence where we are today michigan where we are going tomorrow wisconsin we will be wednesday. Swing states, for a reason, there is new polling out new york times, this morning, that shows how close things are a year out, from next years election, as you look at numbers keep that in mind the latest foxes poll former Vice President biden up 12points nationally on President Trump in pennsylvania, biden lead to 3 Bernie Sanders is up against President Trump by just a single point, and Elizabeth Warren and president are deadeven, now i want to make points about the economy in this important state number one there is concerns developing some areas where President Trump pennsylvania has been most particular so far you look at numbers, are more than 9,000 manufacturing jobs have been lost statewide, some wonder whether that will have impact next time arorn polling very close where we are, in the suburbs outside fill avenue different story we talk to a lot of people in he Chester County over weekend all of them every one said the economy booming things are great where disagreement is when you ask what that means for the election whether the president deserves another four years, then you have a split take a listen. In middle i am not too sure when direction i am going at this point. I dont support his beliefs i think fueled by money and personal gains rather than looking at the actual people. I see this town booming, economically, i think should judge him on the job he is doing. Instead of the personality. There is key point personality versus performance we will talk about it throughout the day after the bell in fact live from a local business specializes in robotics a different perspective from Business Leaders talk to political leaders more voters, to get idea what they are considering in a state looks to be well just about as close as last tiement one year before next election. All right. Thank you so much connell in pennsylvania i think connell made a really good point something we talk about a lot on this program personality, versus progress, or are personality versus performance that personality versus policy, a lot of people are on the democratic side dont like President Trumps personality, but when you look at policies hard to argue, especially when you look at economy, look at fox news polls, the economy is right in line with health care, as top issues extremely important to voters, ahead of the 2020 race does that mean, that if the economy is doing well President Trump gets reelected. I think it means very difficult for anyone to beat him if economy continues to do well i think the Health Care Issue though is one can hurt him democrats exploited this mid terms why they won so republicans, and president really better be well suited to have a plan in place and talk about it not just saying that democrats are not going to work but what is he going to do in next term i think very, very important to American People. Maria chairman former a regular economic adviser art laffer on this question thanks so much for being here characterize the economy for us how important is Strong Economy for it president s reelection . Well, i think really, really, really important for the president , and our economy doing really well this latest gdp number, 1. 9 , is over a 1. 1 above eurozone we have been tracking eurozone twoplus years we just way outgrown the world, we are about a trillion dollars higher gdp today than we would have had we grown at rate of eurozone, so miles are working continuing to increase our advantage over the rest of the world if you look at that employment much you couldnt love more than that number was it was great, i think there are more types of numbers coming because of household numbers are so different from the establishment numbers, i think weve got a long way to catch up so i am very excited about the economy, and i think will inure enormously to his benefit. 128,000. Stock market of course the stock market. Maria it was a blowout number in terms of jobs friday even when you when you measure in the upset of the gm strike boeing production line being offline it was still incredibly strong do you agree with that. Absolutely, what can go wrong here we have low rates, great jobs, and, of course, low redaction rates, supplyside kniceconomics what does it mean look to go 2020. I dont think much could go wrong out to 2020 to be honesty what could go wrong impeachment nonsense disrupts thoughts takes us off a track their trying to take all Business Decisions away from Business Leaders, and put them in the hands of pelosi and schumer this is exactly what Elizabeth Warren is running on, they are trying to move away from a voluntary society where people voluntaryly likely pay taxes to Police Enforcement irs agents it is a completely two different world views, and the one i consider very, very dangerous the one by zuckerman, the advisers to Elizabeth Warren, and that is where the real crux comes that split we will see how it works out. Art good morning Mitch Roschelle clearly consumer driving economy gdp print, all about the consumer not all about business, in order to keep the consumer going what stimuli do they teed we are not getting a tax cut we have gotten three rate cuts anything else fed or congress can do to continue to keep consumer sometime ladistimulate what theyve done deregulation tax cuts a longlasting effect long lags in this the tax cut is still working overtime, on creating higher gdp, higher economic growth. And i expect it to continue to work longer, i mean, the tax cut not just one sugar high then back to where it was a before, not true. Our growth rates quarter in, quarter out exceeding the rest of the world by substantial amounts because of the tax cuts because of deregulation i expect that will be working well into 2020, and we will real keep us going on Strong Economy. Maria of you said in the past if a china deal that is gravy you expect markets to take off. Thats huge, if we get a good china deal i mean as i said not just guessing by the way, businesseling in the wind i think 4,000, 5,000 on dow good china detail would do for usa phenomenal economy 2020 i hope expect it will be true. Art great to see you thanks so much. Hey great to see you guys thank you very much. Art laffer. Maria a deed shooting at one rental houses now forcing airbnb to make changes joining us to host of Varney Company substitute to weigh in. Major Disruptive Companies have to come to terms with future regulation, regulation coming down the pike disrupt theors have to yet used to it halloween, there was a house party, in an airbnb rental unity three people killed, in a shootout it was in orinda, california now airbnb trying to clean itself uppis no more party houses a Rapid Response team to rapidly responded to situations this have kind trying to i think the regulations will try to rein in disruption of you dont want it insofar they are no longer a Disruptive Company no longer introducing something new i think same goes for uber and lyft, airbnb, of course, wants to go public probably next year they have got to clean themselves up, a balancing act maria, and i think we see eyetoeye on this in that nobody wants to stop innovation but, at the same time, you got to have some rules imposed some not being treated fairly. Regulation is coming i think, one of those issues both sides of the aisle agree on. I think it is regulations actually is needed, i never said that maria i hope not on videotape but i do believe that. It is true increasingly you see conservatives saying i want small government i dont want you know, i want low taxes, but when it comes to technical, butt, butt, butt. Bigger than expected. I am glad you think i am a conservative that is good. I did not say that i said some conservatives, you know there you go. Stuart thank you see you top of the hour Varney Company 9 a. M. Of course they do. Here, i got more to show you. Keep up, now. A little hustle. Maria welcome back u. S. Reportedly opening National Security investigation into the owner every tik tok, beijing technology onebilliondollar acquisition of the social media app music lee joining us fox news headline 247 morning anchor brett larson. O do i have to translate any names of apps we talked about these are all these are all social media apps for younger people, teenagers into the early 20s, tik tok, has 26 1 2 million users, 60 are from the United States, the company is owned by app objected by china, so there is obviously, some concern there, because if you are if you are a company that is owned by china then obviously, Chinese Government has a say in your daytoday operations i think that is safe to assume. So delis concern so there is a National Security review of the tik tok app because, rightly our government wants to know are they censoring what is being said are they putting things into your news feed that maybe shoem some chinaed propaganda. A little concerning, i am out of the demographics for tik tok much older than 24 years old but numbers o flip numbers around i like at app what is this nonsense looks like stream cartoon characterization but has become very particular obviously, a concern to government, for parents, i would say if your children are using it just brief conversation with them about, what are you sharing on here who are you friends with friends with people owed of your physical Social Circle to make sure they are not gaining access to nonsensical propaganda would end up in there china has so much money he they go and buy Silicon Valley companies right off the bat with acquisition, of you know by Chinese Company you are Technology Gets transferred, to Chinese Company and so they have got and they it is a National Security risk. Right you dont know most Technology Companies as i often like to say you know their secret as you say so to speak their formula to make cocacola is what china is buying they are buying the intellectual property, and a lot of that stuff we dont get to see, case that is what makes their company tick gm is not telling you how we make Combustion Engine at this point most could figure that out facebook goal not telling you how algorithm works that is their bread and butter if china buys it they know how it will works now in this stance with tik tok it may seem like basic technology, we are sharing stuff on phones, that is everybody can do that we were able to do that with my space, sort of but this is there is definitely algorithm audience that they have access to. Which is very troubling. Quick are there ads on tik tok, i believe so targeted toward younger draw of. Concerns me as well. Advertising, now a concern because advertising revenue or concern because i dont know who is going to have access to that population what are they selling them. Right. Is this advertising they have data can session beyond app bigger issue right. Right. We are all slowly getting a grip on, is it is not just you know when you are on facebook not just that you are sharing photos you are sharing, what you ate for lunch you are sharing your location you are sharing where you have gone throughout the day you are sharing all of your Contact Information your personal information so much of your life, what you are doing, how you navigate your day is now part of a data structure that can be used to target you for specific things i mean the whole point they want to hyper target advertising. Is this a privacy issue. Also that there is also the privacy issue if you are doing business in u. S. But your Company Located owed uoutside u. S. What if tik tok is hacked by neerdowells in china facebook older demographic this clearly the settings of opting in opting out knowing whether or not you are sharing information may not be known by 16yearold they may not care. That is a problem. This is definitely a problem that we are having, Going Forward a lot of applications are targeted towards younger folks you can put up walls you can say hey your parents have to sign off, i have seen both google and apple on platforms do really good job making it like nope your parents have to literally put in password for you to download this app, you know kids know Technology Better than [laughter] a way around all this.
