So of course hes happy. And markets are still way up from what it was from the elections. The economy is doing well. What is hanging over the economy, is the Federal Reserve trying to slow the economy, saying it is overheating . Are we getting a trade war . I dont think we will but you have that possibility out there. So there are uncertainties out there. I think that weighs on the market. They always try to anticipate the future. Lauren yeah, we hear from jay powell head of the fed next week for the first time. Well get a sense if the fed strategy will be welltelegraphed and slow and steady. Jeff, that brings me to the my next point, most of 2017 as equities rise precipitously we had 10year yield hovering around 2. 4 all year. Now were seeing almost 3 . Is that what really changed in 2018 that made it a volatile market or Something Else . Its a big change that has stock investors thinking because as bond yields get higher they compete for investor affection against stocks, however, the starting point matters, and the starting point is so low for bond. If this was a normal universe right now that 10year treasury would be yielding over 5 . It doesnt really begin, i think to become a headwind for the stock market until we see a number well above 3 , maybe approach are 4 , even higher. Then stocks might turn around. It appears the special counsel is doing everything he can to get to donald trump and his inner circle, am i right . David, i think youre absolutely right. The problem with this, these developments, it is very, very bad news for Paul Manafort and not very bad news necessarily for donald trump. The charges involved here that rick scott, gates is pleaded guilty to have absolutely nothing to do with President Trump himself or the white house. It has more to do with his dealings with Paul Manafort and their business dealings together as well as statements he made to the fbi and to agents, muellers incents in the months, in early months of this investigation. David well, it also shows, i mean the degree to which the swamp was just everywhere in washington. It wasnt only manafort and gates if these indictments are, criminal proceedings are to be believed. There are also democrats involved. People like the podesta brothers, tony podesta in particular who was involved in the same kind of pr stuff dealing with the ukraine around the same time. When will they indict a democrat . Well i think youre exactly it really does peel back the layers and expose the swamp for all of its swampiness. Just astonishing. You really do, start to get the sense that washington isnt even divided by party lines so much. David no. It is divided by avenues of money running into peoples pockets. They dont care about left or right. They want to make a whole lot of money. David this is an International Group of bureaucrats, people that play off the bureaucrats. We saw the russia indictment. We spend anywhere three to five days simply on the range. It is weapons safety. It is weapons familiarization. We move up to not only shooting at pieces of paper, paper targets, but getting into more tactical scenarios. In the final exam, if you want to call it that, is what we call force and force scenarios, where we have our trainers in the building with these armed Staff Members, they use dye marking cartridges. Kind of like paint ball even more effective, were not only shooting at people, but these people, these Staff Members are being shot at. So they know what it is like to be in a shooting situation. And that is where we can really determine if these people are fit for doing the job bus, go ahead. Lauren 10 seconds here. This action targets the deceptive shipping practices that enables the kim regime to fund its dangerous weapons programs. Lauren that was the president and treasury secretary Steve Mnuchin announcing a new round of sanctions against north korea, aiming to strangle the regimes finances and their ability to push forward with their nuclear program. So todays announcement is on one hand, on the other hand. They are the longest list of sanctions weve done on north korea. Were not going after chinese banks and Financial Institutions which are really helping the north korean regime maintain its nuclear and missile program. There are things we are still not doing but should be if we want maximum pressure. Lauren you heard what the president said today, our relations with china have negative been better. Do you the president to insist for more help from china and russia as well . There are things we can do we need chinese assistance. Getting a better u. N. Resolution, maybe after the next north korean provocation. We can do things using our own laws, we dont need beijing or moscows permission. We havent been doing so. Chinese entity facilitating north korean behavior has to go through the u. S. System. Weve been pulling our punches against the chinese entities.
