They are feeling like the democrats are completely out of touch with them. How can you not applaud that the economy is booming. They are getting all kinds of benefits. It really makes him look like theyre out of touch. You applaud things that are good for the American People and that you agree with. Its policybased. Then you dont clap but if he says Something Like the economy is doing well more americans are getting paychecks that something everybody can do. More than half of this is showmanship. If you look at the poll from cbs news that they did. 75 percent of viewers of the speech have a favorable view of the speech. The overwhelming numbers. There is a major disconnect. We would have to write responses what did we say. And a lot of times that response is the president said a lot of good things tonight. We would agree a lot with the rhetoric but challenge on policy. The polls show that the American People watching that speech leslie said we agree with the progress the president has made. We might have some policy differences. And yet there members of congress and leadership dismiss the whole first part of it. After she publicly said this is crumbs. This is little bits of cheese. I thought it was even more it was about stagecraft. It was about the incredibly powerful individual stories of triumph and selfsacrifice of putting someone elses life ahead of your own in the suffering of these families killed in the family sitting up in the galley. The sacred duty of every elected official in this chamber is to defend americans to protect their safety and their families and the communities and their right to the American Dream americans are dreamers too. I think the democrats and the notion of resisting and not working together as one that is just not resonating with the American People. People want to get things done. Do not change your opinion on that given the impact that we have seen from the tax plan i think its negatively as easy as a lot of people would like you to believe. When you see this you see that theyre really there really supporting republicans more than democrats. The reverence for those who have served our nation reminds us of why we salute our flag and why we put our hands on her heart for the pledge of allegiance and why we proudly stand for the national anthem.
