FAMU Way ribbon cutting scheduled for Friday in Tallahassee
The FAMU Way project has been more than a decade in the making. Tallahassee leaders will host a ribbon cutting ceremony Friday at 10 a.m. at Lake Bradford Road to officially open the road to traffic.
Residents are invited to attend the celebration, and masks are required. The event will also be streamed live on the City of Tallahassee Facebook page.
Community meetings began in 2010 to address the need for an additional east-west corridor that would enhance traffic flow. The project extended FAMU Way from Wahnish Way to Lake Bradford Road. It created three roundabouts, wide sidewalks, and a multi-use trail connecting to the St. Marks Trail. A community gathering place is now available at Lake Anita, along with a playground.
