The former band director at Chilton County High School accused of having a sexual relationship with a student has pleaded guilty to a reduced charge.
Ashlee Elizabeth Steinman, 29, issued her guilty plea Tuesday. She was initially charged with the felony crimes of school employee engaging in a sex act with a student and using her official position to gain access to the student and carryout the illegal relationship.
Steinman was arrested Feb 9. The investigation began when Clanton police received a report of the possible relationship between Steinman and the 18-year-old student, said CJ Robinson, chief deputy district attorney of the 19th Judicial Circuit which includes Chilton County.
