COPELAND Council is helping residents secure a new home with the launch of a new discounted sale scheme.
Eligible people can register their interest in a discounted sale property that can be sold for up to 80 per cent of its open market value.
Those on the register will be told when discounted sale properties are awarded planning permission, so that they can apply for plots.
Residents who cannot afford to buy on the open market, who have a local connection to the parish or town and meet other qualifying criteria, will be prioritised initially.
The number of discounted sale properties provided is secured through the planning process and, in most cases, the discount applies to any subsequent sales of the property.
