here in prison. it was hard. i read third grade level. it's took me eight months to get my g.e.d. normally it takes somebody a month. but i got it. it's good knowing it's the last time i'm going to be locked up. but it's sad knowing i was ever in it. >> like jessica, some of the women at this north carolina prison feel a sense of shame and regret for the crimes they committed and the time they've had to serve. >> i don't know. it's like every day, every night you go back, if only i could go back and not do it. but you can't. you can never go back. >> cynthia was convicted of first degree murder and sentenced to life without parole. what makes her situation unique is that prior to killing her husband, she worked as a prison correction officer. >> a lot of people will look at a woman in prison.
