one a day men's. welcome back to msnbc. i'm contessa brewer. as the nuclear crisis looms in japan, humanitarian efforts continue. helicopters from the "uss reagan" strike group and the carrier "air wing 5" delivered five ton of food and water today. so far, relief flights have dli delivered about a total of 40 tons of aid, but some of that aid is not reaching the people who need it most. more than 450,000 survivors of the quake and tsunami are still living in shelters nearly a week after the disaster struck. and many are north of the power plant. radiation fears there are keeping aid workers away. one evacuation center reportedly is now limiting food to one bowl of rice per day, per person. in the devastated areas, the search and rescue mission continues, but, of course, the radiation fears are hampering that as well as bitter cold and snow.
