offensive to a lot of americans, the building of this mosque so close to ground zero, especially since new york city officials have been dragging their feet for a decade and still don't have a memorial up to those fallen victims. but, at the same time, the united states of america does not bar private institutions from building religious structures on private property. that would be a direct violation of the first amendment. >> absolutely. also have to make a clear distinction between islam and the terrorists who were abusing their religion. that is fundamental. if there is ever going to be an end to terrorism around the world, we have to bring moderate moslems, those who have nothing to do with the extremists together for those the extremists are attacking. that is central to any hope for peace.
