a team of federal safety officials has been called in to investigate this weekend's crash of a staten island ferry in new york city. dozens of passengers were hurt after it slammed into a pier yesterday morning. glenn zimmerman is live on staten island for us. glenn, with a good morning to you, do we have a cause yet? >> reporter: it appears as if there's a preliminary cause. of course it's going to take the national transportation safety board quite a bit of time it to come up with a final conclusion but the preliminary cause has to do with the propulsion system of the boat itself. the boat has been moved. there it is right there "the andrew j. barberi." what officials were saying yesterday when the captain went to basically move the boat, the throttle from the full front position to the reverse position, didn't work. the end result was it crashed into the dock at approximately five knots which in conversion is almost six miles an hour. of course big, big impact onboard. crew members were able to alert passengers and pushed them from the front section to the back
