and i think it's very unfortunate. >> sandra: mike emanuel is live from capitol hill this morning with more. mike, good morning. >> good morning. senate republicans are saying they're hopeful there will be movement today. it is not clear if it will be on a short term government funding extension or longer term through next september. president trump is tweeting on the topic this morning saying illegal immigration costs the united states more than $200 billion a year. how is this allowed to happen? a key senate republican says he does not see any benefit to a partial government shutdown. >> i just don't see mrs. pelosi is running the show. i don't think chuck is. i don't think she is going to agree to a single solitaire dime. if we shut down government she'll wait until january 3 and when she is running the show in the house and then send us a budget without a penny for the wall.
